While you have a Void Super equipped, rapid Shotgun final blows or defeating a powerful combatant with a Shotgun will grant a Void overshield and start health regeneration. While you have a Void overshield, Shotguns deal additional damage, and Shotgun final blows refresh the overshield. Provides a moderate benefit to Shotgun airborne effectiveness and reload speed.

How It Works

This build combines the exotic shotgun/pulse rifle Lord of Wolves with the exotic gauntlets No Backup Plans to give both immense survivability and crazy weapon damage.

The backbone of the build is really simple - get an Overshield, use Lord of Wolves. We've got plenty of ways to get and keep an Overshield online through the following:

  • picking up an Orb of Power (Facet of Purpose)
  • hitting targets with Shield Throw
  • using Unbreakable
  • killing 2 red-bar enemies or one major with Lord of Wolves

As soon as we get an Overshield, Lord of Wolves receives a 35% damage buff as well as gaining 70% damage resistance until it depletes, which is rare given how easy it is to get and keep Overshield up.

Lord of Wolves is by far the best shotgun in the game currently and deals a ridiculous amount of damage and Scorchwhen hip-fired. When ADS'd, the gun turns into more of a pulse rifle and gains a pseudo-Incandescent perk on kills. This makes it perfect for both ad clear and single target damage, letting it get the most out of our exotic slot. Facet of Ruin also buffs the area of ignitions, which will be created on sustained damage from Lord of Wolves in hip-fire mode, if the enemy doesn't die first.

Twilight Arsenal is a prerequisite to get No Backup Plans working fully but is by no means a dissapointing super, with great damage, free Weaken and an easy free damage buff of 30% when used whilst having an Overshield thanks to Limit Break in the artifact.

I've taken Suppressor Grenade in the grenade slot, as its intrinsic Overload stunning capabilities are really helpful in endgame content when needed. However, most of the time our grenade energy will be going into Unbreakable. Shield Throw is the chosen melee as it provides free Overshield and will also grant Radiant on hit thanks to Facet of Dawn.

Unbreakable is a very slept on aspect. When blocking, you receive a massive 95% DR, as well as disorienting any enemies you walk into and gaining an Overshield over time. When you release Unbreakable, you send out a damaging Void shockwave that deals incredible damage if you manage to block a decent amount of damage first, capping out at roughly 2500 damage with a range of 11 metres. For perspective, a fully charged Thunderclap deals 1555 damage.

For the second aspect, we take Diamond Lance. Being able to spawn in a Diamond Lance every time we get a Stasis, ability or Shatter kill (with a 7 second cooldown) is incredibly useful. Also, the damage of all of our Shatters is buffed by Facet of Ruin. Unbreakable will net us plenty of ability kills, whilst our chosen primary Fair Judgment can grab Stasis kills on demand. Any Stasis primary is good here, I like FG for its roll of Rimestealer / Headstone for access to Frost Armor for more DR and Stasis crystals for more CC and anti-Champ capabilities. Although a Stasis weapon isn't 100% necessary, feel free to use whatever Darkness weapon here instead, as you will need a reliable way of getting Darkness Transcendence energy with this build.

For the heavy slot I chose Speleologist as boss damage wasn't necessary thanks to Lord of Wolves and I wanted to take advantage of the Solar siphon, reserves, scavenger and surge mods on my armour. A craftable roll of Envious Assasin / Incandescent allows for our heavy to become our panic button, mowing down enemies with a 900rpm ~200 bullet magazine that sets off a mini nuke on every kill. Being a Machine Gun, Speleologist can also benefit from the Hold the Line and Heavy Ordnance Regeneration artifact mods to provide Cure on kill when surrounded as well as a 25% DR buff and an 85% grenade and melee regen buff after landing only 8 hits with an MG. Works very nicely.

Ammo isn't a problem for this build either. We aren't running double special (although feel free to go for it if you fancy it), we have a copy of Solar scavenger and Solar reserves equipped AND the two ammo perks in column 4 of the artifact (Gold from Lead and Dreadful Finisher). No need for Special Finisher allows us to use a surge mod instead for a 10% damage buff for Lord of Wolves and Speleologist.

Ability regen is great on this build thanks to Facet of Balance giving melee and grenade energy from Light and Darkness damage respectively. 100 Discipline is easily enough to keep Unbreakable online frequently, but this can be buffed up by running a gun with Demolitionist. Facet of Awakening allows for rapid elemental kills to spawn in corresponding elemental pickups. For this build, we can get 3 different pickups. Any Stasis multikills from Fair Judgment or Diamond Lance will spawn a Stasis shard for 10% melee energy. Multikills from Lord of Wolves or Speleologist will spawn a Firesprite, granting 12.5% grenade energy. Multikills from Suppressor Grenade, Shield Throw, Unbreakable or Twilight Arsenal will spawn a Void Breach for 12.5% class ability energy.

Transcendence comes pretty easily as well, with the build having a good split between Light and Dark damage, just make sure to rotate your sources of damage to get there fast.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

This build should be absolutely nuclear in the Edge of Fate DLC with the new artifact focusing around Solar and Stasis.
