(+) At 100 strength, most melees have a 0:15 second cooldown. Shiver Strike will have a 0:19 cooldown, and Frenzied Blade will have a cooldown of 0:22 on the first charge, 0:19 on the second, and 0:15 on the third.

(+) At 100 discipline, all but Shackle Grenade will have a 0:20 cooldown, with the latter having a 0:25 cooldown.

These paired with a cooldown of 0:21 on thruster at 100 resilience mean you can weave your abilities together, and create powerful moments in combat at regular intervals, without having to worry about wasting a grenade at an inopportune moment; every engagement is worth using your abilities in.

All of this is before the seasonal artifact; with Shieldcrush, these cooldowns are reduced beyond their already incredible limits.

While the build does specify Thermite Grenade and Shield Toss, the choice of ability is completely up to you. With that in mind, a few points of warning;

1) Glacier Grenades are not currently being broken by Consecration. Wave Frame Heavy GLs do the job great though.

2) Shackle Grenade does offer a means of applying a darkness debuff if you can't run a slice or chill clip weapon, but it reduces your overall effectiveness to use your grenade and not get a void overshield.

3) Thermite is currently subject to a bug that causes Unbreakable to do full charge damage regardless of duration. This means you activate Unbreakable, hold it only as necessary for defense, then release for massive numbers. For comparison, 0% charge deals ~17k damage to red bars in patrol, while 100% charge deals ~72k damage.

4) In encounters where enemies are constantly flying at a distance, Pulse or Shackle grenades are a much better option.

5) Suppressor grenade is purely for the additional overload utility; it's not enough to chain stun a champion at higher difficulties, and it's usually better to tank a melee with Unbreakable and follow up with a weapon stun.

6) For melees, the temptation with every build is to equip Frenzied Blade; this is a trap. Frenzied Blade's cooldown penalty is a massive issue for the flow of this build. For comparison, if you spam all three of your melee abilities, you'll be waiting 0:56 seconds for your melees to return, and benefiting from Shield Crush a single time. Using Shield Toss as an example, you'll get to use three Consecrations over 0:45, be able to weave Unbreakable in between each usage, and benefit from Shield Crush three times.

7) Hammer Strike and Shiver Strike are both great movement abilities, which can be used more freely due to the limited cooldown; Hammer Strike can be used like its pre-nerf form for quick directional changes and extensions, while Shiver Strike can be used for more complicated in-air movements. In 9/10 cases, use Hammer Strike for movement.

8) Thunderclap becomes the awkward middle child of the melee options, because it basically allows you to use Consecration without sliding. It does serve as a reasonable means of getting Amplified in our kit, if you want the damage reduction before entering the fray with Unbreakable. If you decide you want to swap Consecration out for another element like Drengr's Lash or Diamond Lance when using this, go for it. Just be aware the ignition from Consecration is a source of Unstoppable, which we don't get back without requiring a kill for Diamond Lance.

9) This build excels in content without locked gear because of the speed at which your abilities return after swapping them. Nothing feels more like unlocking the full prismatic kit like being able to swap to whatever melee or grenade ability you'd like to use on the fly.

10) Both Barricade abilities are valid to use in this build, but will lessen the use of Reaper for orbs, as Hallowfire Heart doesn't affect the regen of your class ability.

Stop That

Knockout is a poor excuse for an aspect, in comparison to the power of our other options. Especially in higher end content, it's much preferable to be able to survive an enemy's attacks while that enemy is alive, rather than after you've killed the enemy. We can also heal after kills using our Orbs of Power generation, and we benefit from other builds that generate Orbs.

You might ask then, when is Knockout supposed to be used? What if my will is unbreakable and I must use the arc punchy aspect? Well, here are the reasons you would specifically want to use this aspect, and why they're negated by choices in this build;

1) You want increased melee damage and range: This is the most valid argument for running Knockout, but we often will end up giving a major component up to make this happen. Shield Toss is mainly used for emergency health, both Strike options are not really for hitting the enemy, while Frenzied Blade and Thunderclap do not benefit from the increased range. This means we're running this aspect to buff our uncharged melee, which in PvE is generally a bad choice.

2) You want to become Amplified (for Galvanic Armor): This may come as a surprise to some, but getting damage resistance as a reward for running into melee range of an enemy, or group of enemies, is not a very lucrative. This is compounded by the fact that Knockout is not required to get Amplified via arc kills. Amplified can be gained via arc multi kills, as long as you run at least one element of the Arc subclass (Thruster not included). This means for our build, run Thunderclap and an arc weapon, and any instance of "rapid defeats via Arc" will give you amplified. (Pulse grenade is an alternate option, once the Thermite damage bug gets patched)

3) You want healing from your melee kills: We get this same result from Heavy Handed in the build, and it also allows us to get safer melee kills by using a transcendence-friendly melee like Shield Toss.

One fair argument that I will acknowledge is that we are significantly more vulnerable while in transcendence if we're trying to spam damage, because we lose access to Unbreakable. To that, I say Bungie this is the part where you let us charge grenades during transcendence, it's really cringe and I don't like losing my aspect because fist smash.

This build can work with a multitude of weapons and classes of weapons. Often times, you can even overlook the need for slice or chill clip, and just take advantage of the extra damage during transcendence due to our suspend grenade. Here are a few recommendations I regularly run;

Final Warning: This thing is a beast in more ways then one; with a catalyst that has no sense being as cracked as it is, this sidearm can one-man most champions before they have a chance to respond. You can easily stun and kill an Unstoppable champ in Master raids in a single mag.

Wicked Implement: This one is a little more for flavor than power, but the stasis shard generation is also for letting us generate armor charges, which can be used for a plethora of defensive uses. Resist the urge to use Kickstart mods though, as they don't support Consecration or Unbreakable.

Wish-Keeper: For the incredibly paranoid, this gives you a step 0 in your room breaching loop that ensures not only your safety, but also the easy Courage trigger.

Revision Zero: This pairs surprisingly well with the build, as the sniper mode can be charged and primed, and ready to deal with any Barrier champions that refuse to be flinched by our abilities.

Deep Stone Crypt/Brave Arsenal: All legendary weapons from these kits support our build, with DSC weapons being a little easier to roll into; the Indomitability origin perk on Brave weapons increase the uptime on our Unbreakable on kills, while the Bray Inheritance origin perk on Deep Stone Crypt weapons increases the uptime on all abilities on hits. Bray Inheritance is also one of the few ways to consistently boost our Thruster usage.

Guardian Games/Classy Contender: Also supports the build with class ability on kills, but not nearly as impactful as the above two options. Hullabaloo is very fun to run though, especially if you elect to slap on a Glacier Grenade.

Dawning Surprise: More useful on lower end content, but as we're attempting to use all of our abilities in quick succession, getting a 10% cooldown reduction every 6 kills (or 2 majors) is useful; adding in the free health regen on pickup makes these a strong contender.

One interaction that you should be aware of, that will change your ability choices and play style: Song of Flame. Specifically, the ability text below...

... While Song of Flame is active, you and nearby allies regenerate abilities more quickly, are more resistant to incoming damage, and your Solar and Kinetic weapons scorch targets.

This shared regen stacks on top of our already incredibly high uptime, to create a Psuedo-Song ability state, I like to call Song of Void. Pick up Shield Toss, and when you friend pops their Song of Flame and rushes into combat, dive right behind them and activate your Unbreakable and Shield Toss on cool down. If you release Unbreakable nearly instantly, you should be able to swing back and forth between your abilities as long as you're in the Song's aura.

As someone with more hours on Titan that the majority of players have on this game, I've heard a lot of content creators talk about class identity, and how the Titan is missing or losing their identity. I wanted to touch briefly on the true identity of Titans, and what it means to be the wall upon which the darkness breaks;

Each class has an identity, that at its core can be summarized in a single word or phase. For Warlocks: Hold/Presence. For Hunters: Dance/Weave. For Titans: Push/Breach.

Nothing screams Titan fantasy more than breaking through an enemy line, and pulling your allies back out to safety. The objective can be done in a different way, whether through invisibility or holding a rez with a rift, but the Titan Identity is the epitome of the Phalanx, pushing into combat and making enemies deal with you on your terms. Hunters and Warlocks get to borrow from this fantasy, but Titan is unmatched in the potential to see it played out.

For me, this build has brought that fantasy back for me; Hammer Strike into combat, Consecration to clear the breach, Unbreakable to create a wall to rescue allies, blasting enemies away and pushing further into combat. When pressure gets too high, Unbreakable is available again to sound the retreat to safer spaces.

In all, I love this build for its fantasy, its simplicity, and the ability to recommend it to anyone regardless of playstyle or skill level, and watch them enjoy the titan kit to the fullest.
