How It Works

In the latest update, Roaming Supers received a significant boost to their regeneration rate and effectiveness against various enemy types. This change has greatly enhanced many builds and exotics that leverage Roaming Supers.

One such exotic is the Stormdancer's Brace, which has long been undervalued. However, with these recent changes, it has become a highly viable option, even for endgame content.

The Stormdancer's Brace comes with the Ascending Amplitude intrinsic trait, which increases Stormtrance's damage output as you defeat enemies. For each enemy defeated, you gain a 10% damage bonus, stacking up to 100% at 10 stacks. Additionally, Stormtrance received bonus damage resistance in a previous update, making it more durable and allowing for improved uptime. With these combined changes, Stormtrance has finally become a strong choice in Destiny again.

Another benefit of this exotic is that after Stormtrance ends, you’ll receive bonus super energy based on the number of enemies you defeated while in Stormtrance. To gain the maximum 50% bonus energy, you’ll need to defeat around 10 red-bar enemies.

These two powerful benefits position Stormtrance to be a solid option for activities like Legendary Onslaught, Grandmaster Nightfalls, and dungeons. While this build may not outshine the Getaway Artist build or deliver the high damage of the Apotheosis Stareater combo, it offers a fresh approach to the Prismatic class, excelling in crowd control and survivability.

Stormdancer's Brace synergizes well with both Arc and Prismatic subclasses. Using it with the Arc subclass provides strong synergy with Jolt and Blind effects, while with the Prismatic subclass, you'll benefit from Devour and Radiance, boosting weapon damage and expanding your arsenal of abilities, including Transcendence, which can be used before, during, or after Stormtrance.

Let’s now look at how we can build around the Stormdancer’s Brace.

We’ll use the combination of Feed the Void and Bleakwather as our Prismatic aspects. Feed the Void activates Devour when defeating enemies affected by any of your abilities. When Devour is active, it grants health regeneration and grenade energy on final blows, allowing for a continuous supply of grenades to create Bleakwathers. Bleakwathers are crucial for dealing sustained damage by keeping enemies frozen or slowed.

We also use Coldsnap grenades for an additional method of freezing enemies if Bleakwather isn’t available. To maximize grenade cooldown, Healing Grenades would be a solid option. Penumbral Blast provides a third method to instantly freeze enemies, and when Transcendence is active, we’ll have a combo grenade that both freezes and suppresses enemies with Void energy.

For fragments, we’ll equip Facet of Dawn, which grants Radiance when hitting enemies with Penumbral Blast, even during Transcendence. Radiance boosts weapon damage by 25% and allows non-champion weapons to pierce Barrier shields. We can take advantage of Facet of Courage for a 10% bonus damage to Light-based abilities when freezing enemies.

Additionally, Facet of Protection will provide 15% damage resistance when surrounded, which increases to 32% during Transcendence and 90% during Stormtrance, ensuring high durability in close combat. Facet of Balance will boost energy regeneration, giving us faster access to both melee and grenade abilities.

Facet of Aweakening creates Elemental pickups, which will generate more ability energy. These pickups, such as Ionic Traces, Stasis Shards, and Void Breaches, further fuel our abilities, allowing us to quickly regenerate both Transcendence and Stormtrance.

Now, let’s talk about the artifact mods that complement this build.

We’ll use Concussive Reload to trigger a 15% weakening debuff on high-value targets when we hit them with a grenade launcher, boosting the damage dealt by Stormtrance. Trace Evidence will increase Ionic Traces generated after defeating Jolted or Blinded enemies, further enhancing our ability regeneration. With the Arc Compounding mod, we’ll deal 15% bonus Arc damage against Blinded targets, which synergizes with our build’s ability to apply Jolt and Blind effects.

Retinal Burn is an interesting choice, as it makes precision Arc weapons trigger Blinding effects. This could interfere with Armor Charges used for Weapon Surge mods, but with mods like Thick of It or Curative Orbs, this can be balanced effectively. The Ex Diris grenade launcher also releases Moths that blind targets, triggering Concussive Reload and amplifying damage.

For weapon choices, we’ll want weapons with Jolting Feedback and Voltshot for additional Arc damage, as well as Chill Clip, Headstone, or Coldsteel for more opportunities to freeze enemies. Weapons like the Bad Juju exotic can increase super uptime by generating more energy, while the Centrifuse can trigger Blinding effects on enemies.

Beyond these specific options, the build allows flexibility with various weapons since you’ll likely be using your abilities more than your weapons during combat.

In terms of armor, we want to prioritize Resilience to reduce incoming damage by 30%. Discipline will also be key to reducing grenade cooldowns, ensuring a steady supply of Bleakwathers. Our armor mods will focus on generating Orbs to fuel Armor Charges for Weapon Surge and Retinal Burn. With two Weapon Surge mods active, we’ll gain 17% bonus damage, which stacks with Radiance for a substantial damage increase.

To support survivability, we’ll use a Recuperation mod to recover health upon collecting Orbs. Devour ensures constant health recovery on final blows, but this mod will provide an additional source of healing.

This build isn’t designed for maximum DPS, but it offers powerful abilities, high survivability, and exceptional crowd control, making it ideal for tackling some of the game’s toughest challenges.
