Rat King Is the First Hero in the City Never Sleeps Update

Rat King is among the six new Deadlock heroes that are joining the roster with the City Never Sleeps Update.

He was the first of the new heroes to be voted in on October 2nd, 2026.

Out of the sewers and into the streets, the rightful King of the Rats is here at last. Rodent-hating citizens of Manhattan won't be prepared to see his Scrap Grenade bouncing down Broadway, nor for his Swarm of Rats biting at their heels. By donning his Royal Pestments, the Rat King shakes off incoming damage, allowing him to bravely lead the charge into battle. His loyal subjects will feel awed and inspired when they see the great Banner of Rattania waving in the middle of combat, and those who oppose him will rue the day they ever thought they could overthrow the king. - "Oh the rats are taking over, baby!"

You can explore the other new heroes below:

How to Counter Rat King

  • Rat King's can squeeze through the tunnels that are usually reserved for Rem, Calico, and Mo And Krill, be sure to communicate when he goes MIA to limit his gank potential
  • His ultimate, Rule, Ratannia! is a potent win teamfight button. Be sure to track its downtime and capitalize as he isn't that impactful without it.
  • Rat King lacks verticality so he has trouble dealing with flyers and other characters that can maintain high ground against him.
