DeadlockDeadlock Lady Geist Guide and Overview
In this Deadlock Lady Geist guide, you’ll learn the fundamentals of her abilities, unique play styles, and fundamental tips.
Deadlock Lady Geist Overview
Lady Geist is essentially Deadlock’s vampire or Warlock character, with a theme that includes using her own Health to cast her abilities and being able to drain the life of her opponents.
Her signature Soul Exchange ultimate makes her a massive 1v1 threat as she can swap Health level with her target, turning an otherwise sticky situation into her favor.
Deadlock Lady Geist Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
One of the best duelists, making her a great split pusher.
Can make major reversal plays in clutch moments.
Low cooldowns on spammable poke abilities.
Weaknesses
Slow rate of fire on primary weapon, so you need to make your shots count.
Can struggle in big teamfights as her ult is easier to play around.
Since your skillshot abilities cost health, mobile matchups can be difficult.

Essence Bomb (1) | ||
---|---|---|
Sacrifice some of your health to launch a bomb that deals damage after a brief arm time. Self damage type is Spirit and can be mitigated. | ||
7m Radius | 100 Damage | 10.5s Cooldown |
0.5s Arming Duration | 30 Self Damage |
Essence Bomb Upgrades | ||
---|---|---|
1 AP | 2 AP | 5 AP |
+2m Radius | +60 Damage | Bombs leave a toxic mess on the ground, dealing 26% of the original damage per second, for 6s. |
Maxing Essence Bomb emphasizes Lady Geist's AoE capabilities, giving her bombs a larger radius, more damage, and even a DoT toxic pool.
Tips for Essence Bomb
Essence Bomb can stick to walls and ceilings and will explode around it to anything in its visualized circle before you cast.
You can often hit enemies behind cover if the circle wraps around it.
Life Drain (2) | ||
---|---|---|
Causes a tether that drains enemy health over time and heals you. Target must be in line of sight and within max range to drain. You can shoot and use other abilities during the drain, but your movement speed is reduced by half. Press [2] to cancel. | ||
20m Range | 2s Duration | 30s Cooldown |
30m Max Tether Range | 35 Damage per Second |
Life Drain Upgrades | ||
---|---|---|
1 AP | 2 AP | 5 AP |
+20 Damage Per Second | +2s Duration | Enemy is Silenced while being Life Drained (requires line of sight) |
Maxing Life Drain gives Lady Geist more durability and is a solid choice into close range and melee matchups. Its upgrades include more DPS, longer duration, and even a SIlence.
Tips for Life Drain
Life Drain does decrease your walking speed but you can make up for it with the usual universal movement options like Dashes, Dash Jumps, and Slides. Make sure you’re well-practiced with those techniques to keep your tethers connected.
Malice (3) | ||
---|---|---|
Sacrifice some of your health to launch blood shards that apply a stack of Malice. Each stack slows the victim and increases the damage they take from you. The slow effect decreases over time. | ||
3 Blood Shards | 5 Max Stacks | 6s Cooldown |
9s Debuff Duration | 32 Health to Damage | 4s Slow Duration |
8% Damage Amp per Stack | 15% Move Slow |
Malice Upgrades | ||
---|---|---|
1 AP | 2 AP | 5 AP |
-3s Cooldown | +40 Health to Damage; increases damage amp by 7% | +6 Blood Shards |
Maxing Malice lets you spam it more often, increases its potency, and increases the number of shards in its fan projectile.
Tips for Malice
In a situation where you want to decrease your health to set up for a Soul Exchange, this is the fastest method to do so.
Soul Exchange (4) | ||
---|---|---|
Swaps health levels with an enemy target. There is a minimum health percentage that enemies can be brought down to and a minimum amount of health received based on victims current health. | ||
7m Range | 0.2s Cast Time | 170s |
30% Enemy Min Health | 30% Min Health Received |
Soul Exchange Upgrades | ||
---|---|---|
1 AP | 2 AP | 5 AP |
-40s Cooldown | On cast +40% Fire Rate for 8s | Ability becomes charged and grants +1 Charge |
Maxing Soul Exchange lets you cast it more often, makes the swap more potent in terms of Enemy Minimum Health, and even grants you buffs to Fire Rate and Spirit Resist on the final level up.
Tips for Soul Exchange
If you’re having trouble getting in close enough range to land Soul Exchange, master the art of the Dash Jump and consider buying items like Warp Stone.

How to Counter Lady Geist
Lady Geist's signature ultimate has short range, go into the Sandbox to get a feel for how close she needs to be to you.
Once she builds items that help her close a gap and ult more reliably, be careful engaging her 1v1.
She makes a good split pusher because of her dueling capability, but she's slower than other split pushers when it comes to actually killing objectives due to the nature of her left-click gun.
