PLEASE NOTE: This is a theory-crafted build.

Starting with Headshot Booster, Drifter has a very easy time to land headshots due to how large his claw hitbox is.
Then obtain Melee Lifesteal, Rend will proc the use, so look for constant poke.
Backstabber and Cold Front is great for chasing down isolated enemies.

Healbane is a perfect item for Drifter, giving some early sustain and a bit of healing reduction.
Hunter's Aura is also a natural fit for Drifter, as both Drifter and Hunter's Aura get large bonuses for hunting isolated targets.

Vampiric Burst is a great combat item as Drifter does large amounts of damage and helps Drifter to survive larger teamfights.
Blood Tribute is great as well, as it gives a huge amount of Debuff Resistance with some Fire Rate.
Then tank up with items such as Spellbreaker and Juggernaut.
