Apollo is a unique, high-mobility character who excels at stylish single-target assassinations. He is strong at all stages of the game and can outplay every character when played well, especially through effective use of his parry. Apollo's unique ability to stall in the air enables a very distinctive and flashy playstyle.

Early Game

Headshot Booster has zero fall-off with Apollo's gun, making it excellent for early harassment.
Healing Rite is our recovery item of choice.
Begin scaling Apollo's damage with items such as Mystic Burst, Extra Spirit, and Cold Front.
Reactive Barrier is the preferred utility item, as Apollo is very susceptible to crowd control. However, Healbane or Enduring Speed are strong alternatives. Buy Healbane if early healing reduction is needed, or Enduring Speed if the enemy team has many slows, such as Slowing Hex or Slowing Bullets.

Mid Game

Torment Pulse and Tankbuster significantly boost Apollo’s damage.
Focus Lens has great synergy, as Apollo benefits heavily from an early silence in addition to another damage increase.
Dispel Magic is a safe option to deal with Slowing Hex, Silence Wave, and targeted stuns such as Graves' Grasping Hands or Seven's Static Charge.
Alternatively, Warp Stone is excellent for additional aerial mobility, and Counterspell is a strong option for extra protection against high-impact abilities like Lash's Death Slam.

For even more survivability, pick up Ethereal Shift. If you want extra damage instead, consider Arctic Blast or Lightning Scroll.
