TFT Vanguard Security Requirement

TFT will Require Vanguard Anticheat

Riot Vanguard

In Riot’s 2024 Roadmap, they announced that their anticheat software, Vanguard, will become a requirement to play League of Legends. This will also apply to TFT players as it is played through the League of Legends Client. You can find additional details in their Support Article.

It’s expected that this change will be a requirement starting with Patch 14.2 (January 24, 2024) or Patch 14.3  (February 7, 2024).

What is Riot Vanguard

As mentioned, Riot Vanguard is an anticheat software used by Riot for games like Valorant. Beginning soon, this requirement will also come to League of Legends, and TFT by extension.

Riot Vanguard is a separate client that will run in the background to ensure anticheat. There may be concerns about data privacy, but Riot has worked to ensure Vanguard complies with data privacy laws.

Another thing to mention is that Riot Vanguard is an on-boot application. If you exit Riot Vanguard at any time, you will need to restart your computer to open the League Client.

Will Riot Vanguard Affect TFT Players?

For the most part, Riot Vanguard shouldn’t affect TFT players. TFT isn’t a game that has many issues with cheating, and as such, it will simply be there in the background as you play. If you already play Valorant, the change will affect even less as you already will have Riot Vanguard installed.

Overall, having Riot Vanguard installed will help keep cheaters away from games like Valorant and League of Legends. If you play only TFT, Vanguard may be annoying, but you can rest assured that Vanguard won’t affect your PC performance. The software isn’t process heavy, and likely won’t affect your game. TFT also isn’t a very demanding game compared to others, so it shouldn’t be an issue.

Riot Vanguard and Linux

One concern that may come up is that Riot Vanguard currently does not work with Linux. This means if you play TFT on Linux, you might be locked out when the requirement is in place. There are still more details to be shared regarding this, so keep a lookout for any further announcements.

Summary

Overall, nothing too much will be changing for a majority of players. TFT players will simply need to have Riot Vanguard running in order to play the game.

While there haven’t been any issues in TFT regarding cheats, it could potentially become an issue in the future, and Riot Vanguard will help against it.

Rest assured that the Mobalytics Overlay will still work with Riot Vanguard, so you won’t need to worry about that.
