TFT Set 13 Releases New 6-Cost Champions

TFT just made a huge announcement in their latest Dev Drop video; 6-Cost Champions will be coming to TFT. These 6-Cost Champions will be characters from Season 2 of Arcane.

Furthermore, these 6-Cost Champions will be rare/hard to find in game. As such, these champions are quite overtuned and will spike the power of your board should you find one.

If you haven’t watched Arcane yet, be sure to do so to avoid spoilers about the upcoming Champions. But since you’re already here, let’s cover who the new Champions are, what they do, and when they’re coming to TFT.

TFT 6-Cost Champions Release Date

The new 6-Cost Champions should be coming to TFT with Patch 14.24. This is only 1 week away, and they’re likely to appear on PBE servers very soon. (Today or tomorrow)

Mel 6-Cost Banished Mage

arcane mel

Mel is our first of three 6-Cost Champions, and she’s the only one of the three that doesn’t have a League of Legends counterpart. She has the Mage trait, meaning if you find her while playing a Mage team comp, you are eating good.

Mel will dash around, reduce the damage taken by allies, and unleash stored damage back at enemies. Furthermore, Mel will have a special “Last Stand” ability, which will save your Tactician from death. (Once)

Warwick 6-Cost Blood Hunter Experiment

arcane warwick

Warwick is our next 6-Cost Champion, and while Mel is a ranged caster, Warwick is all about going in fast and upfront. He will have the ability to jump around and execute enemy champions under 20% Health. (likely his Blood Hunter trait)

Once enough enemies are executed, Warwick will enter a frenzy, dealing more damage and gaining Omnivamp.

Just like with Mel, if you happen to find Warwick while playing an Experiment team comp, he’ll slot right in as he is also Experiment. However, as with all three 6-Costs, they’ll be strong enough to power up your board regardless of what team comp you’re playing.

Viktor 6-Cost Machine Herald

arcane viktor

Last but not least, we have Viktor. Viktor’s traits were shown as Machine and Herald, meaning he likely won’t share any traits with any other units. Even still, Viktor certainly has enough to warrant a board slot.

Instead of auto attacking, Viktor will fire his laser. (Likely dealing magic damage)

For his ability, Viktor will stun the entire board. While we don’t know the exact duration of the stun, stunning the entire board is an extremely powerful ability. You can build Attack Speed and Mana generation to quickly fire your laser and constantly stun enemies.

6-Cost Rarity and Strength

In the Dev Drop video, 1-Star 6-Cost champions were compared to 2-star 4-Costs in terms of strength. This is certainly a very big power spike, as you get what is essentially a 12 Gold champion (2-star 4-cost) for half the price.

Furthermore, if you’re lucky enough to 2-Star your 6-Cost, then you might just win the game on the spot.

In terms of rarity, they weren’t completely clear on it, but they mentioned that “you might see one 6-cost champion every game or 2.” (It’s unclear if this is in regards to every player, or across all 8 players)

On one hand, it’s very exciting to find a 6-cost Champion and obliterate enemy boards with them. On the other hand, it would feel very bad to have a game go well only to be ruined because your opponent lucked into a 6-Cost.

In the end, TFT will always have RNG aspects, 6-Costs are simply adding another layer. Maybe you’ll be able to defeat a 6-Cost and feel more proud of your game as well.

Thanks for Reading! Be sure to check out our Champions Page, as we’ll be sure to add these 6-Costs and their abilities once their information is available on the PBE Server.
