Day 1 of Guardians of the Ancient Reveals
In a trailer released by Riot for the next expansion 3 champions were teased! Irelia for Ionia, Zilean for Targon, and Malphite for Shurima.
An interesting thing to point out is that in lore, Malphite is from Ixtal, which some players have wanted to be the final region in Legends of Runeterra.
Maybe this means that Void will be the final region instead?
The new Guardians of the Ancients cards will be revealed every morning at Mobalytics so be sure to keep up with the latest cards!
With the tease of the new champions, 3 cards were revealed, one from each region that we are getting in this expansion.
- Blade (Follower)
- Chip (Follower)
- Clockwork Curator (Follower)
You can theorycraft new decks with these cards right now by heading to the Deck Builder.

- Blade
- 1 mana 1|1 follower
- Text: Obliterate me when I leave combat
Blade is an Ionian card that is a 1 mana 1|1 which reads “Obliterate me when I leave combat”.
It does not have a gem on it which means that it is a token most likely from Irelia. It is hard to say its synergy when we don’t know what Irelia does yet.
- Chip
- 1 mana 1|1 follower
- Text: Once you’ve summoned a landmark this game, grant me +2|+2
Chip is a 1 mana 1|1 from Targon. It reads: “Once you’ve summoned a landmark this game, grant me +2|+2”.
Targon used to have the powerhouse of Veiled Temple, but since its nerf Targon doesn’t play many landmarks.
To see how strong this card is, we will have to see if Targon gets additional landmarks in this expansion!
- Clockwork Curator
- 2 mana 2|2 follower
- Text: Play: Advance an allied landmark 2 rounds.
Clockwork Curator is a 2 mana 2|2 from Shurima. It reads, “Play: Advance an allied landmark 2 rounds”.
It obviously helps Buried Sun Disc level up quicker which could help mono Shurima decks a bit.
It’s hard to say where else the card might fit as it is likely this expansion will have more landmarks that this card will work with.
Conclusions
It’s hard to say how these cards will play in the game without seeing additional cards and their champions.
Come back tomorrow to see which cards are revealed!
