Magic Misadventures LoR Spoilers Day 5

Hey guys NicMakesPlays here.

We’ve got a brand new reveal day for you with more cards from Targon.

Day 5 brings us the latest Targon champion Pantheon and his supporting cards.

To see the other past and future reveals for Magic Misadventures, check them out here.

Here are the card’s from Day 5 of Magic Misadventures Reveals:

  • Pantheon (Targon champion)
  • Shield Vault (Targon spell and Pantheon’s champion spell)
  • Camphor, The Doubt (Targon follower)
  • Freed Colossus (Targon follower)
  • Against The Odds (Targon spell)

Pantheon

Pantheon Level 1 (lor card)

  • Pantheon (level 1)
    • 4 mana 4|2 champion
    • Overwhelm, Barrier, Fated
    • Level Up – You’ve targeted allies in 5 different rounds.

Pantheon level 2 (lor card)

  • Pantheon (level 2)
    • 4 mana 5|3 champion
    • Overwhelm, Barrier, Fated
    • Text – When I’m summoned or level up, grant me a random keyword for each round you’ve targeted this game.

Pantheon has potential to be really strong since he boasts the Overwhelm, Barrier, and Fated keywords. He comes down as a 4/2 with Barrier, and if you give him even one gem he becomes a 6/3 immediately. This allows you to put on huge pressure on turn 4 that is hard to deal with due to Barrier.

He continues to grow stronger during his level up quest and then eventually becomes a win-con. Overall, Pantheon is a solid champion with many different ways to build around him.

Shield Vault

Pantheon's Shield Vault (lor card)

  • Shield Vault
    • 2 mana Slow spell
    • Text – Grant an ally +1|+1 and Stun an enemy.

Shield Vault allows Pantheon decks to have interaction while utilizing the Fated keyword and leveling Pantheon. This is good because it can shut down opposing pressure such as Aggro, Elusives and Challengers while beefing up your units.

You can also set up combat where you stun one of their key units while buffing yours to be stronger than the rest of their board, effectively shutting off their whole attack.

Not many cards have this role making it a solid cheap spell.

Camphor, The Doubt

Camphor, The Doubt (lor card)

  • Camphor, The Doubt
    • 6 mana 5|4 follower
    • Text – When I’m summoned, if you’ve targeted allies 6+ times this game, grant me Spellshield, Overwhelm, and Challenger.

Camphor, The Doubt can be a finisher in the Pantheon decks. Spellshield makes Camphor hard to stop, while Overwhelm + Challenger allow you to pick your blockert to apply huge damage.

Pantheon decks should be packed with buff spells by default to level Pantheon, so these can also be used to buff Camphor and push for more damage.

Freed Colossus

Freed Colossus (lor card)

  • Freed Colossus
    • 5 mana 4|5 follower
    • Text – When I’m summoned or Attack: Create a Gem in hand.

Freed Colossus is an amazing card to get gems for Pantheon’s level up. Boasting a solid 4/5 stat line and giving a gem immediately, Freed Colossus gives value right when he comes into play.

Gems are one of the cheapest ways to help level Pantheon each turn and are native to Targon.

This card gives you an influx of gems throughout the mid-game to help level Pantheon and end the game.

Against The Odds

Against the Odds (lor card)

  • Against The Odds
    •  3 mana Focus spell
    • Text – If your opponent has more units than you, grant an ally +1|+1 for each extra unit they have.

Against the Odds can be a good spell for decks that like to go all-in on one unit. Decks that utilize Fiora could use this card to help buff her and achieve her win condition.

Overall, this card is a bit expensive and can be situational in a lot of spots. If your opponent isn’t wider than you then it doesn’t get much value, and if they are too wide then you would want something to alleviate the pressure.

I could see this card being teched in specific decks like Fiora or against certain go wide metas.

Bonus Deck: Pantheon Taric

Nicmakesplays's pantheon taric (lor deck 12-3)

Deck code: CECQGAIABEFR2BADBERTAOS4AEBQADQBAQAAEAIFBEBQEAYBAABQ2FICAMERYKIA

[See Pantheon Taric deck details]

Our theorycrafted deck for today’s reveals features two Targon champs, Pantheon and Taric.

The two are a great pair because they both utilize gems, targeting allies and combat tricks.

This deck can utilize buffing your own units and then going for game with a leveled Pantheon/Taric + Rally.
