How to Play Zed Hecarim (Worldwalker)
Hey everyone NicMakesPlays here.
Today I’m going to go over my Hecarim Zed Aggro deck.
This deck can output insane amounts of damage and makes great use of Hecarim’s buff.
Deck Code: CECAQAIFAMDQUDAVC4VC6AIEAIHAEAICBEVAEBQCAMEQAAIBAEBA2
Goal of Deck and Mulligans
The goal of this deck is to output as much damage as possible with Ephemeral Units. Attacking with Ephemerals revives Shark Chariot attacking and helps level Hecarim. The game ends around turns 6-7 with a leveled Hecarim or Dragons Ambush.
In this deck, you want to mulligan hard for Shark Chariot. Shark Chariot makes all of your Ephemeral attacks more potent because it revives itself when Ephemerals attack. This also makes your Dragon Ambushs threaten lethal much easier. Alongside Shark Chariot. You want to mulligan for one drop such as Sparring Student and Oblivious Islander.
Sparring Student / Shadow Apprentice
Sparring Student and Shadow Apprentice are your 1 drops of the deck. These cards help apply immense early game pressure because of their ability to raise their stats.
Sparring Student gains +1|+1 whenever you summon a unit, while Shadow Apprentice gains +1/0 whenever you summon an Ephemeral.
Both of these cards combine well with Haunted Relic to reach massive attack stats for the early game.
These effects are also not once per round so that you can activate them multiple times with cards such as Shark Chariot.
Oblivious Islander / Shark Chariot
Shark Chariot is the centerpiece of the deck and Oblivious Islander makes him that much better. Shark Chariot revives itself attacking whenever Ephemerals attack.
Since this deck is an Ephemeral deck, Ephemerals will likely be attacking every turn. You can get multiple Shark Chariots in grave to snowball the pressure they create every turn.
Shark Chariot also combines well with Dragons Ambush to apply huge pressure on turns that you don’t have the attack token.
Oblivious Islander allows you to discount a unit by 1 and give it Ephemeral.
This is particularly strong on units that are already Ephemeral because then they are just discounted by 1 for free. You can use this on Shark Chariot in the early game to output pressure and set up your Shark Chariots in grave.
Zed / Hecarim
Zed and Hecarim are your Champions of the deck. Zed plays a simple yet effective role in this deck. He outputs 6 damage on turn 3, and summons an Ephemeral.
This helps produce damage output for the aggro gameplan, revives Shark Chariot, and buffs Sparring Student/Shadow Apprentice. Hecarim is the star of the show in this deck due to his new buff. When Hecarim is leveled, he makes all Ephemerals gain +3|0 for the rest of the game even if he leaves the field.
You can easily level Hecarim in this deck via Shark Chariots and Haunted Relic. Once you have leveled Hecarim, for the rest of the game you can create immense damage output with your Ephemerals that your opponent can’t keep up with.
Haunted Relic / Onslaught of Shadows
Haunted Relic and Onslaught of Shadows allow you to use spell mana to summon multiple Ephemerals. You can combine these cards with Sparring Student and Shadow Apprentice to swarm the board and deal a lot of damage.
These cards also help level Hecarim easily, while reviving Shark Chariot. These spells also work well with Soul Shepherd to summon a board of buffed Ephemerals.
Dragon Ambush / The Harrowing
Dragon Ambush and The Harrowing are two of the main ways you go for game alongside Hecarim. Dragon Ambush summons two Dragonlings attacking, which also revives Shark Chariot attacking. This play is phenomenal to keep applying pressure when you don’t have the attack token.
The healing the Dragonling provides also can keep you alive for your final swing next turn. The Harrowing is a huge bomb in this deck that usually finishes the game. The Harrowing revives your 6 strongest dead allies as Ephemerals. If this card reborns Hecarim then you will be swinging with a full board of +3|0 units.
This deck is amazing against midrange strategies since they can’t keep up with your pressure and have to block down their units to stay alive.
In these matchups, you want to mulligan for a 1 drop, and Shark Chariot. Zed is also a good card to mulligan for if you already have these, and you can draw them into your power cards later. You can start the game off by creating pressure through huge damage output so the tempo is in your favor.
Your opponent will have to start blocking your Ephemerals with their real units to stay alive. Then you can finish the game with a well-timed Dragons Ambush, Harrowing, or Hecarim.
This deck is weak against decks with tons of removal and board clears such as SI Frejlord. They can use their pings such as Vile Feast and Withering Wail to stop your damage output.
To help in these matchups you want to mulligan for Soul Shepherd. Soul Shepherd buffs all your Ephemerals +1|+1 so they are out of range of 1 damage pings. Cards like Hecarim and The Harrowing are also great in these matchups because your opponent needs much more removal to answer them.
This deck can cut copies of Shadow Fiend and Soul Shepherd
This card is a cheap Ephemeral summon that allows you to use spell mana effectively and clear blockers.
This card is a great way to refuel and convert your Ephemerals into new cards.
This card is another great way to refuel and can help you dig for key cards such as Shark Chariot.
