Call of the Mountain Card Spoilers: Ionia (Tasty Faefolk, Swole Squirrel, and More)

Our Thoughts on the First Revealed Cards for Ionia (Call of the Mountain)

The latest card reveals for the upcoming Call of the Mountain set are five new cards from Ionia:

  • Flower Child
  • Young Witch
  • Tasty Faefolk
  • Swole Squirrel
  • Fuzzy Caretaker

Overall, this package adds more options to the ever-growing Support theme for the expansion and some new furry friends for the region.

In this article, our Glimpse Beyond experts give their thoughts and break down every card!

Flower Child

flower child reveal

  • Flower Child
    • 1 mana 1|1
    • Text – When I’m supported, grant me +2|0

Precipic: This card is a core 1-drop for the Support archetype. A key thing about it is that it gains permanent attack buffs which means if you are able to keep Flower Child alive it can become a massive threat. Decks this could see play in would be a Demacia + Ionia aggro/midrange deck where you combo Flower Child with War Chefs to create a very aggressive opener.

Young Witch

young witch reveal

  • Young Witch
    • 2 mana 1|1
    • Elusive
    • Text – Support: Give my supported ally Quick Attack and +1|0 this round.

Precipic: This card is a decent 2-drop for Support decks and elusive decks. Support plus Elusive is quite powerful because it means that you will be able to get multiple Supports off without your creature dying

Silverfuse: I feel like Young Witch has potential because it is an Elusive creature that will fit outside of the Support archetype.

Tasty Faefolk

tasty faefolk reveal

  • Tasty Faefolk
    • 3 mana 4|2
    • Lifesteal

Precipic: This card is very comparable to Deadbloom Wanderer. It loses the Toss synergy for an extra point of attack. I would expect this card to be a delicious tool from Ionia against aggressive decks.

Rattling Bones: This card is fantastic against 4 Health threats and it can evolve that way.

Silverfuse: Yes, Ionia has healing but not quite on a body like that. I think we will see it pretty often

Swole Squirrel

swole squirrel reveal

  • Swole Squirrel
    • 4 mana 3|4
    • Text – Double my Power.

Precipic: This is a really fun meme card. It combos incredibly well with things like Single Combat and Judgment to give it massive amounts of attack. It also works really well with stuff like Whirling Death and Dragon’s Rage to push through a bunch of damage. Make sure that when you play with this, you have ways of dealing damage through blockers with cards like Might, Kato, Dragon’s Rage, or Atrocity.

Fuzzy Caretaker

fuzzy caretaker reveal

  • Fuzzy Caretaker
    • 4 mana 3|3
    • Text – Support: Give my supported ally +3|0 this round.

Precipic: Fuzzy Caretaker is a potential 4-drop in the Support archetype. This card has the potential to get +3/+3 in stats on an attack so if you are able to curve something like Flower Child into Tyari the Traveler and play a Fuzzy Caretaker on 4 that is a pretty large board you have developed.

Rattling Bones: This card plus the 5 mana card from Targon, Mountain Sojourners, feels pretty nice…perma buffs on crack. It might be memes but we’ll have to test and see. It could be the premier 4-drop for Support decks, akin to Bannerman from Demacia.
