Dr. Ratio: Guide Skills, Builds, Teams & More

Dr. Ratio is an Imaginary Hunt DPS with a focus on follow-up attack and debuff. While his role in the current day is heavily contested by more modern Damage Dealers such as Feixiao or Archer, Dr. Ratio still has a well-rounded kit with high single-target damage output, enough to carry many players through endgame content.

HSR Dr. Ratio Release Date

Dr. Ratio was given for free to all players active during the Patch 1.6 period. Currently, we have no estimate when his banner might be available.

Dr. Ratio HSR Kit Overview (Trace Level 10)

Talents & Ultimate

The majority of Dr. Ratio’s damage comes from his follow-up attacks, which talent. Whenever Dr. Ratio uses his skill, he has a 40% chance to launch a follow-up attack onto the target, dealing Imaginary Damage. This chance can be improved further with each debuff on the target, up to a maximum of 100% with 3 debuffs. If the target dies before Dr. Ratio launches this follow-up attack, it will automatically be launched at another random target.

His Ultimate is a single-target attack that also inflicts a unique debuff called “Wiseman’s Folly”. While the enemy has this debuff, every time an allied unit that is not Dr. Ratio attacks it, Dr. Ratio will automatically launch a follow-up attack, similar to the one from his Talent. This follow-up attack can trigger up to two times per Ultimate use, so a good Dr. Ratio rotation would involve weaving his follow-up attacks in between Ultimate to maximize his damage.

Skill & Basic Attack

Both of Dr.Ratio’s Skill and Basic Attack are unassuming abilities, with his Basic doing 100% of his Attack to a single enemy, while his skill deals 150% instead. Granted, Dr. Ratio will want to use his Skill practically all the time for the follow-up attack trigger from his talent.

Traces

Dr. Ratio’s first major trace is a rather simple stats boost. It gives him 2.5% Crit Rate and 5% Crit Damage for every debuff on his target when he attacks, capping at 15% Crit Rate and 30% Crit Damage, further emphasizing his synergy with debuffers.

His second trace inflicts a debuff that reduces an enemy’s Effect RES by 10% for 2 turns when he uses his Skill on them. This trace’s main purpose is mostly to fulfill his debuff count requirement, but it can also help his debuffer partner to land their debuff more easily.

His last major trace increases his Damage by 10% per debuff when attacking an enemy with 3 or more debuffs.

Technique

Upon using his technique, Dr. Ratio will create a Statue with a zone around it that taunts nearby enemies. When entering battle against enemies in this dimension, he will inflict a 15% Speed debuff to all of them for 2 turns, which can help him stack up debuffs at the start of the battle.

Overall

Dr. Ratio’s kit is quite simple to understand and operate in practice. The more debuffs on an enemy target, the more consistent his follow-up attacks and damage output will be. The player will want to stack up debuffs onto his main target so that he can repeatedly launch numerous follow-up attacks from his skills and Ultimates. Generally, Dr. Ratio only needs 3 debuffs to become competent enough. Being a generic Crit-scaling DPS, Dr. Ratio is also highly flexible and synergizes with many common amplifiers and turn advancers such as Robin or Sunday.

Dr. Ratio HSR Core Skills

Basic Attack – Mind is Might: Deals Imaginary DMG equal to 100% of Dr. Ratio’s ATK to a single target enemy.

Skill – Intellectual Midwifery: Deals Imaginary DMG equal to 150% of Dr. Ratio’s ATK to a single target enemy.

Ultimate – Syllogistic Paradox: Deals Imaginary DMG equal to 240% of Dr. Ratio’s ATK to a single target enemy and applies Wiseman’s Folly. When Dr. Ratio’s teammates attack a target afflicted with Wiseman’s Folly, Dr. Ratio launches 1 instance of his Talent’s Follow-up ATK against this target.

Wiseman’s Folly can be triggered for up to 2 times and only affects the most recent target of Dr. Ratio’s Ultimate. This trigger count resets after Dr. Ratio’s Ultimate is used.

Talent – Cogito, Ergo Sum: When using his Skill, Dr. Ratio has a 40% fixed chance of launching a Follow-up ATK against his target for 1 time, dealing Imaginary DMG equal to 270% of Dr. Ratio’s ATK. For each debuff the target enemy has, the fixed chance of launching Follow-up ATK increases by 20%. If the target enemy is defeated before the Follow-up ATK triggers, the Follow-up ATK will be directed at a single random enemy instead.

Technique – Mold of Idolatry: After using Technique, creates a Special Dimension that Taunts nearby enemies, lasting for 10 second(s). After entering battle with enemies in this Special Dimension, there is a 100% base chance to reduce each single enemy target’s SPD by 15% for 2 turn(s). Only 1 Dimension Effect created by allies can exist at the same time.

Dr. Ratio HSR Traces

Summation: When Dr. Ratio uses his Skill, for every debuff on the target, his CRIT Rate increases by 2.5% and CRIT DMG by 5%. This effect can stack up to 6 time(s).

Inference: When Skill is used to attack an enemy target, there is a 100% base chance to reduce the attacked enemy target’s Effect RES by 10% for 2 turn(s).

Deduction: When dealing DMG to a target that has 3 or more debuff(s), for each debuff the target has, the DMG dealt by Dr. Ratio to this target increases by 10%, up to a maximum increase of 50%.

Dr. Ratio HSR Eidolons

  1. Pride Comes Before a Fall: The maximum stackable count for the Trace “Summation” increases by 4. When a battle begins, immediately obtains 4 stacks of Summation. Needs to unlock Summation first.
  2. The Divine Is in the Details: When his Talent’s Follow-up ATK hits a target, for every debuff the target has, deals Imaginary Additional DMG equal to 20% of Dr. Ratio’s ATK. This effect can be triggered for a maximum of 4 time(s) during each Follow-up ATK.
  3. Know Thyself: Ultimate Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Basic ATK Lv. +1, up to a maximum of Lv. 10.
  4. Ignorance Is Blight: When triggering the Talent, additionally regenerates 15 Energy for Dr. Ratio.
  5. Sic Itur Ad Astra: Skill Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Talent Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15.
  6. Vincit Omnia Veritas: Additionally increases the trigger count for “Wiseman’s Folly” by 1. The DMG dealt by the Talent’s Follow-up ATK increases by 50%.

Eidolon Priority

Dr. Ratio has a pretty good set of Eidolon with no particularly weak Eidolon. While his first Eidolon is only a modest boost to his stats, his other major Eidolons are all quite potent at improving his performance and operation. However, investing in Dr. Ratio’s Eidolon at this stage of the game is a massive commitment since he is not on the same level as newer Damage Dealers, both in terms of base power and scalability.

  • Eidolon 1: Medium
  • Eidolon 2: High
  • Eidolon 4: High
  • Eidolon 6: Very High

Premium Options

Baptism of Pure Thought

Baptism of Pure Thought: Increases the wearer’s Crit DMG by 20.0% / 23.0% / 26.0% / 29.0% / 32.0%. For every debuff on the enemy target, the wearer’s Crit DMG dealt against this target additionally increases by 8.0% / 9.0% / 10.0% / 11.0% / 12.0%, stacking up to 3.0 times. When using Ultimate to attack the enemy target, the wearer receives the Disputation effect, which increases DMG dealt by 36.0% / 42.0% / 48.0% / 54.0% / 60.0% and enables their follow-up attacks to ignore 24.0% / 28.0% / 32.0% / 36.0% / 40.0% of the target’s DEF. This effect lasts for 2.0 turns.

Dr. Ratio’s Signature Light Cone is not only the best Light Cone for himself, but it is also a quite flexible Light Cone that many follow-up attackers can utilize, such as Topaz, Feixiao, or Moze. While this Light Cone is phenomenal for Dr. Ratio, he also has a lot of good & cheap options.

Swordplay: For each time the wearer hits the same target, DMG dealt increases by 8.0% / 10.0% / 12.0% / 14.0% / 16.0%, stacking up to 5.0 times (s). This effect will be dispelled when the wearer changes targets.

Swordplay has always been one of the best 4-Star Hunt Light Cones for most Hunt units, particularly at Superimposition 5. This Light Cone suits Ratio’s playstyle as he wants to focus down one enemy at a time, so stacking the bonus should not be a problem.

Only Silence Remain: Increases the wearer’s Attack by 16.0% / 20.0% / 24.0% / 28.0% / 32.0%. If there are 2 or fewer enemies on the field, increase the wearer’s Crit Rate by 12.0% / 15.0% / 18.0% / 21.0% / 24.0%.

In a one or two enemies scenario, this Light Cone provides a lot of of raw stats that Dr. Ratio appreciates.

F2P Options

Cruising in the Stellar Sea

Cruising In The Stellar Sea: Increases the wearer’s Crit rate by 8.0% / 10.0% / 12.0% / 14.0% / 16.0%, and increases their Crit rate against enemies with HP percentage less than or equal to 50.0% by an extra 8.0% / 10.0% / 12.0% / 14.0% / 16.0% . When the wearer defeats an enemy, their Attack is increased by 20.0% / 25.0% / 30.0% / 35.0% / 40.0% for 2.0 turn(s).

Cruising is a fantastic F2P option for the Hunt units, providing good Crit Rate and high base stats.

HSR Dr. Ratio Main Stats

  • Body: Crit Rate / Crit Damage
  • Feet: Speed / Attack
  • Orb: Attack% / Imaginary Damage%
  • Rope: Attack%

HSR Dr. Ratio Sub Stats

  • Crit Rate / Crit Damage
  • Attack
  • Speed

As a Crit-scaling DPS, Dr. Ratio’s gear options are straightforward. He will want Crit Rate / Crit Damage on his armor, Attack% or Imaginary Attack% on his Planar, and Attack% on his rope. His boot choice depends on the team setup. If paired with someone like Sparkle, who can act as a Speed boot for him, then he should go Attack% boot. If used with someone like Sunday, who can double his turn, then going for Speed boot with a few Speed subs is a good idea.

Main Stats Goal & Speedtuning:

  • Goal: 134+ if going for Speed boot.

When paired with units like Sunday or Bronya, players will want Dr. Ratio to have at least one Speed point higher than them so that they can pull him after he has already moved. 134 Speed is often cited as a good breakpoint since it is highly achievable by most players and also provides 2 turns instead of one in the first cycle in Memory of Chaos or 150 Action Value in Apocalyptic Shadow / Pure Fiction.

HSR Dr. Ratio Relics

Option A

Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters

Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters

  • 2-Pc: Increases DMG dealt to enemies with debuffs by 12%.
  • 4-Pc: Increases CRIT Rate by 4%. The wearer deals 8%/12% increased CRIT DMG to enemies with at least 2/3 debuffs. After the wearer inflicts a debuff on enemy targets, the aforementioned effects increase by 100%, lasting for 1 turn(s).

With Dr. Ratio wanting debuffs on his target all the time, the Diver set should always max out on its bonus and provide the biggest amount of raw stats to him.

Option B

Wastelander of Banditry Desert

Wastelander of Banditry Desert

  • 2-Pc: Increases Imaginary DMG by 10%.
  • 4-Pc: When dealing DMG to debuffed enemy targets, the wearer has their CRIT Rate increased by 10%. And when they deal DMG to Imprisoned enemy targets, their CRIT DMG increases by 20%.

This set is a decent alternatives as it will always give Dr. Ratio 10% Imaginary Damage and 10% Crit Rate.

Option C

The Ashblazing Grand Duke

The Ashblazing Grand Duke

  • 2-Pc: Increases the DMG dealt by Follow-up ATK by 20%.
  • 4-Pc: When the wearer uses a Follow-up ATK, increases the wearer’s ATK by 6% for every time the Follow-up ATK deals DMG. This effect can stack up to 8 time(s) and lasts for 3 turn(s). This effect is removed the next time the wearer uses a Follow-up ATK.

Dr. Ratio cannot make good use of the 4 pieces bonus effect from this set since each of his attacks only has 1 instance of damage, but the 20% bonus damage from the 2 pieces bonus is still quite significant to make this a good placeholder set.

HSR Dr. Ratio Planar Sets

Duran, Dynasty of Running Wolves:

  • 2-Pc: When an ally uses follow-up attack, the wearer gains 1 stack of Merit, stacking up to 5 time(s). Each stack of Merit increases the Damage dealt by the wearer’s follow-up attacks by 5%. When there are 5 stacks, additionally increases the wearer’s Crit Damage by 25%.

Dr. Ratio’s best in slot set as he can stack this up easily and it also provides massive bonus compared to any other options.

Inert Salsotto

Inert Salsotto:

  • 2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s Crit Rate by 8%. When the wearer’s current Crit Rate reaches 50% or higher, the Damage dealt by the wearer’s Ultimate and follow-up attacks increases by 15%.

This set boosts the primary form of Dr. Ratio’s damage, which is hit follow-attacks and Ultimates, while also providing a nice 8% Crit Rate.

Izumo Gensei and Takama Divine Realm

Izumo Gensei and Takama Divine Realm:

  • 2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s Attack by 12%. When entering battle, if at least one other ally follows the same Path as the wearer, then the wearer’s Crit Rate increases by 12%.

This set has a good bonus, but only usable when used alongside another Hunt unit like Topaz, Moze, or March 7th.

HSR Dr. Ratio Teammates

Harmony/Nihility

Robin: Robin is THE support for follow-up unit, providing massive damage boost, teamwide advance, and additional damage that scales with the team attack frequency, something that Dr. Ratio team will have in abundance.

sunday

Silver Wolf / Pela: Both units are great debuffers that can provide the necessary debuffs for Dr. Ratio to trigger his talent, and also improve his damage output.

sunday

Sunday: Of the harmonies that provide action advance, Sunday is easily Dr. Ratio’s option as he is SP positive, which lets Dr. Ratio spam his Skill frequently, and also provides Energy at the same time, something Dr. Ratio enjoys as he wants to have as high uptime on his Ultimate as possible

Remembrance Trailblazer, Sparkle, and Tingyun are all good alternatives for amplifiers. Remembrance Trailblazer provides Action Advance and True Damage, which does not dilute with other buff types. Sparkle lets Dr. Ratio run Attack boost thanks to her 50% Action Advance. Tingyun can give a large burst of Energy for Dr. Ratio frequently, and can utilize the Dance Dance Dance Light Cone to support the whole team.

Sub DPS:

Cipher: Cipher provides several debuffs on her own, which make her a great teammate for Dr. Ratio by default. Her ability to record damage and spread it out also helps Dr. Ratio massively in any content that has more than 1 enemy.

HSR Portrait Topaz

Topaz: On her own, Topaz provides two debuffs on her own and can amplify Dr. Ratio’s follow-up damage with her massive 50% Follow-up Attack Vulnerability.

Sustain:

aventurine

Aventurine: Aventurine is the de facto sustain for the follow-up team. With his Light Cone, he can provide two debuffs that freeze up the amplifier spot for Dr. Ratio so he can run options like Sunday and Robin more effectively.

Hyacine: Hyacine can provide a debuff with her Light Cone, which helps improve the team’s damage. Hyacine also moves frequently due to her high Speed, meaning she can quickly trigger Dr. Ratio’s follow-up attacks while dealing respectable damage of her own.

HSR Dr. Ratio Teams

Dr. Ratio can be played as both the focal point of a hypercarry team and in a dual-dps team. Either way, players should pay attention to the amount of debuffs the team can provide for him to make him as consistent as possible

Dr. Ratio Hypercarry Team:

Generic Dr. Ratio Hypercarry team. Robin should almost always be best in slot for Dr. Ratio, as her buffs are highly synergistic with his kit. The secondary amplifiers depend on how many debuffs the sustain can provide, so with Aventurine and his Signature Light Cone, players can use other amplifiers like Sunday. Silver Wolf, however, does give massive single-target damage amplifier, which Dr. Ratio highly appreciates.

Dr. Ratio Dual DPS Team:

Dual DPS team with a sub-DPS like Cipher or Topaz, both can take advantage of Robin buffs while also providing debuffs.

Dr. Ratio F2P Team:

Dr. Ratio is quite flexible with his support units, so even new or F2P players can craft a decent team for him.

HSR Dr. Ratio Pull Value and Conclusion

At this point in the game, it is ill-advised to pull for Dr. Ratio. Even though he can still help clear endgame content, he is outclassed by modern damage dealers who simply do more for the account. Players who got him for free during the 1.6 patch can consider pulling for his Light Cone since it is quite generic and many other DPS can make good use of it, but nonetheless, it is advisable to skip Dr. Ratio entirely.
