The Fastest Leveling Routes in Diablo Season 6

Leveling fast—we love to see it, but real talk: just one moment. If this is your first time playing Diablo 4, close this article and play it through once without a guide. You’ll be doing yourself a disservice and robbing yourself of the experience for which you spent good money.

Now, for the rest of you, if you’ve done it once, you’ve done it a million times, right? So, how do you blast your way to the max level in a matter of hours?

The good news is I will share with you the most optimal way to level in the upcoming Vessel of Hatred / Season 6 expansion. And who am I? My name is Dalkora, and I’ve been one of the fastest solo levelers in the game in multiple seasons. Now that I managed to slide in my obligatory flex/brag into the article let’s get started!

How to Start

The first step is an obvious one: You’re going to want to make your Character. There are no right answers here, but if you do want to look cool, go for the Soldier’s Crop haircut and the Roving Outlaw Beard! What is important is that you select to skip the campaign and start in difficulty “Hard.”

Character Creation D4

Once you’ve loaded in, you’ll be in Kyovoshad and ready to start the killing! The second step, then, is to get yourself over to the nearest Helltide and to start blasting! Now, depending on when you’re starting, you may or may not have people spawning in the Blood Maiden, which is that large event in the middle of the map. This grants a healthy amount of XP but, more importantly, a bunch of strong equipment, which is much harder to get right now.

D4 Character Creation skip

When no event is up, or you don’t have the hearts required to summon the blood maiden yourself, you want to keep busy killing demons and opening the mysterious chests around the hillside.

D4 Slay the Blood Maiden

These chests will grant you large amounts of XP as well as gear. To open one, you’ll need 75 cinders, which you get from killing enemies. You can use your map to see the location of all of these chests for the Helltide you’re in.

Remember that Helltides is split into two sections, North and South, and you cannot see the chests for the section you’re not in.

Tortured Gift of Mysteries

Your goal for this leveling segment is to get strong enough to move up to Expert difficulty. In an ideal world, this would be around level 20-30. However, it is somewhat dependent on your luck. If you get really great drops, a couple of legendaries perhaps, OR, if you’re fortunate, a unique, then you will move up earlier. However, if the game decides it’s coal for Christmas, you may be waiting a little longer. It happens.

Town, Gear, and Consumables

Ideally, as little as possible, leveling 1-30ish won’t net you that much equipment with the changes to drop rates in Vessal of Hatred so it shouldn’t be all that hard to wait for the five minutes of downtime between Helltides to jump back, salvage your junk, repair, make potions and get back to it!

Speaking of potions it is very much worthwhile to pick herbs while you’re in the Helltide, that way you’ll be able to create elixirs at the alchemist from level 10 that’ll give you a nice little boost to your character power and XP!

D4 Elixar of Advantage 2

Also as you come across Tempers, you’ll also want to make sure to throw these onto you gear when you get a chance at a Blacksmith as Tempers can offer a tremendous amount of power to your character, making leveling significantly easier. If you’re uncertain as to which tempers as best check out our leveling builds here on mobalytics.

Diablo 4 Shapesifting Endurance

Finally, a good rule of thumb to go by, especially in the earlier levels, is that “green arrow is good.” This means if an item has a higher Item power than the previous, it’s more than likely an upgrade, so you’re safe to slap it on. However, as you move into the 40s & 50s, you’ll want to take more care in selecting your gear, making sure it has the right stats for your build. If you don’t have a build, did I mention we have builds here on Mobalytics!

Strongholds at Level 35

Here’s where things oddly start to speed up! Around level 35, you’ll want to start targeting Strongholds, and that’s right! Strongholds that thing from season 1!

D4 Level 35 Strong hold

Strongholds are an insane source of XP, granting almost an entire level upon completion. So starting from one side of the map you want to start going through completing every single last one of these.

Focus primarily on finishing them as fast as possible, though the enemies grant XP I wouldn’t focus too much on clearing out all of them as it will take more time than it’s worth. Also, the XP payout does not scale with difficulty, this means whether you complete the Strongholds on Easy or Penitient it makes no difference to the reward you receive. To complete them quickly, you may want to lower the difficulty.

D4 Waypoints

While you’re doing these, remember to pick up Waypoints while you’re in the area. These will save you a lot of time in the future.

And all being well this will actually take you all the way to 60! I know insane right? But that’s just how strong Strongholds are for leveling at the moment.

Renown

Another buff to XP rewards was Renown, handing in renown now provides a significant amount of XP that seems to scale with your level, this means you’d be best served saving these until your later leveling, somewhere in the 50’s where handing them in can get you a couple of levels!

Diablo 4 Shapshifting Endurance

To hand Renown in, open the map and press “W.” You should see them there ready to be claimed. You can of course do this at any time, but right now, I strongly recommend saving them until the end.

That’s about all I have to teach you. Now get out there and blast! I’ll see you in the endgame. Thanks for reading.
