All 2XKO Fuses Explained (Easiest to Hardest)

What is a 2XKO Fuse?

In this 2XKO Fuse guide, we’ll break down every single Fuse and explain what each does, why you should choose them, and offer some use-case examples to get you started!

At the start of every match, immediately after selecting your two champions, you are prompted with, “Fuse Select.”

There are 5 fuses to choose from: Pulse, Fury, 2x Assist, Double Down, and Freestyle.

Every Fuse offers your team a unique power up that offer their own pros and cons.

Once a Fuse has been selected, neither team is able to change which Fuse they are using until a team wins two rounds and the match is over. When rematching an opponent, you can only choose a different Fuse by selecting, “Change Champs.”

Depending on which champs you use, whether you are playing 1v1 or 2v2, your skill and most importantly, your play style preference, this guide will help you choose the best Fuse for you.

Pulse (The Easiest)

  • A 10-hit combo with Ekko performed by mashing Medium rapidly. As you can see from the on-screen inputs, even though the user is only pressing M, Ekko auto performs Special attacks, and his S1 Super.

“Press attack buttons rapidly for devastating combos”

Similar to Assisted Combos when using Modern Controls in Street Fighter 6, choosing the Pulse Fuse allows players to simply press one button repeatedly, and their champion will perform an auto combo.

Additionally, each normal attack (L, M, H) has its own combo attached to it and will end with a different finisher. For most Champions, the L Pulse combo launches the enemy into the air and finishes with either S1 or S2. M Pulse combos end with a level 1 S1 or S2 Super, and H Pulse combos end with their level 2 Cutscene Ultimate.

When using the Pulse Fuse, players retain complete access to their full moveset and abilities. Each champion’s manual combos can still be performed the same as when using any other Fuse. Pulse does not limit the user in any way, other than missing out on the benefits the other Fuses offer.

Considering the other Fuses can greatly increase your duos power and synergy, Pulse has the least potential in high-level competitive play. For new players, Pulse showcases combo routes, and allows anybody to have fun playing 2XKO so we definitely recommend starting with Pulse when just starting out.

Below we have Darius showcasing his Heavy auto combo. Since he is inputting neutral Heavy, Darius begins the combo with his [5H] attack and automatically finishes the combo with his powerful 2 bar Ultimate ( ↓ , ↓+S1+S2).

TLDR

If you’re a brand-new beginner and just want to jump straight into playing, Pulse is a solid option. When you’re ready to switch to other 2XKO Fuses, you can keep in mind what the auto-combos were with Pulse and replicate the ones you like.

Fury (Easiest Non-Pulse)

Fury is the second easiest Fuse to use, and often a new player’s second choice after moving on from Pulse. Fury damage boost automatically activates for a champion as soon as their health drops below 40%.

The best use of the special dash cancel (we’ll call Fury Dash), is its ability to make any move safe on block which opens up offensive options that would otherwise not be possible. Remember, you can Fury Dash out of both normal and Special attacks.

A Fury symbol appears below the team’s Dynamic Save bar to indicate when the Fury buffs become active. Only the champion with sub 40% health and the Fury symbol gains the buffs, the second champion also has to be below 40% health to activate the Fuse.

Experiment with your specific Champion to discover new block string and combo routes by utilizing Fury Dash. During rounds where your team falls behind, having Fury as your Pulse can give you the edge needed to make huge comebacks!

Here are two examples showing a strong defensive option for using Fury Dash after being knocked down.

When Ekko’s Get Up Attack gets blocked, the opponent is free to unleash their counter attack.

Fury Dash Canceling out of Get Up Attack makes it safe on block and steals your turn back. The opponent is unable to punish or counter attack.

TLDR

Once you move on from Pulse, Fury is the next easiest Fuse to use as you get passive benefits from it. Making use of the Fury Dash offers a higher ceiling than you’d think, but it’s definitely less complex than other Fuse choices.

2x Assist (Medium Difficulty)

2x assist

  • Using 2x Assist to cover multiple wakeup options. Ahri jumps back defensively, while Braum assists offensively. The second Braum assist gives Ahri enough time to recover and land a meaty on their opponent’s next wakeup.

“Empower your partner with multiple assist actions!”

2x Assist allows your assist Champion to perform two assist actions back to back before exiting. Each Champion can either perform the same assist twice, or switch between their forward and back assist in any order. (One important caveat, however, is that some assists, such as Yasuo’s Windwall, are unable to be performed twice in a row).

Coming out with two assist actions can cover your point Champion’s offensive approach, defensive retreat, and creates some stylish combos juggling the enemy between your two champions.

When playing with a duo in 2v2 or 2v1, 2x Assist Fuse becomes even easier to use and get value from. Since the point player doesn’t have to worry about Assist inputs or timing, the point player awaiting their turn, needs to only focus on when to assist and which assist to choose. Some Assists like Bruam’s Battering Ram Assist, can easily be spammed due its massive hitbox and forward movement.

The double assist possesses equal power as a combo extender or as block chain pressure to let your team put the enemy in deadly mix-ups.

Try out 2x Assist if you haven’t already, and don’t forget to combine it with Handshake tags for even more style and side-switching mix-ups!

TLDR

Use 2X Assist if you love using Assist abilities. You’ll be able to use it more in neutral, for longer combo extensions, and more opportunities to swap out.

Double Down (Medium Difficulty)

  • Darius and Illaoi using Double Down to combine their Ults. Off of a simple Darius’ command grab tick throw mix-up, Double Down lets their team deal 80% damage!

“Combine your Ult with your partner’s!”

During any LVl 1 Super (S1 or S2), you can call in your assist Champion to perform any of their Ultimates with Double Down! After the Point Champion has activated their Ult, the Assist Champion can activate theirs by inputting S1, S2, or their level 2 cutscene Ult.

The Point Champions cutscene Ult cannot be canceled with Double Down. Depending on the specific combo, the Assist Champion can cancel the Point Champion’s initial Ult at any time during its duration. As soon as the Assist Ult activates, the Point Ult ends and does not continue to deal damage if canceled before its last hit.

Some Duos benefit more than others from Double Down Fuse based on the synergy of their Ults. Just because you activate Double Down does not guarantee the assist ult will connect with the enemy in your combo.

Additionally, both Champions need to have at least one bar of Ult meter available to make use of Double Down. Be sure to experiment in training mode to find the best Double Down Ult combinations for your specific duo.

The final benefit of running Double Down Fuse is an extra feature not listed in its in-game description. If you first call in an assist, then use an Ult while your assist champ is still on the screen, you can actually Handshake Tag them as soon as the freeze frame from the Ult start up ends.

Tagging out during an Ult lets you safely Tag without having to spend any Ult meter from the assist champ. Moreover, a Handshake Tag during an Ult opens unique juggle combos to keep racking up the damage!

Double Down Fuse allows for some of the highest damage combos possible. If you enjoy dumping all your resources in one go to quickly end the match, Double Down is the Fuse for you!

TLDR

Double Down does a great job of helping you finish off opponents within lethal range with more consistency. However, you’ll need to make sure that your Supers synergize and combo into each other in Training mode beforehand.

Freestyle (Hardest)

Braum begins with a standard combo into Tag Launcher. Yasuo calls in Braum assist, Handshake Tags to let Braum attack with S2, then Handshake Tags back to Yasuo to finish off with his Ultimates.

“Handshake Tag twice in one sequence”

The aptly named Fuse, Freestyle, gives you endless possibilities on how and when to use the two Handshake Tags. Normally, you can call in your assist champ, Handshake Tag to swap to them as point champ, then they jump out of screen after a brief pause.

Freestyle allows the point champ to Tag their assist, attack with the assist champ, then tag back to continue to once again attack with the point champ. As shown above, this can be used to create combo extensions not possible with any other Fuse.

Being able to tag back and forth also lets you put the enemy in hard-to-follow block-string mix-ups. This can be extremely useful for opening up the opponents’ defense when you’re having a difficult time landing hits.

Not only does this enable you to sandwich your opponent for attacks on both sides, you can also mix in high/low and grab mixups. If you predict your opponent will try to use a reversal like Dynamic Save to escape the pressure, bait it out by pausing or using movement instead of an attack.

Using Freestyle’s Handshake Tags for block strings can also let you safely perform attacks that would normally be unsafe unblock. The extra time locking your opponent in blockstun when swapping heroes gives you enough space to pull out those slow hard hitting moves.  The use case scenarios for Freestyle really are limitless, so keep experimenting and finding unique ways for your team to use Handshake Tags.

Note: A regular assist or Handshake Tag has a 2-second cooldown. Freestyle Fuse’s double Handshake Tag puts your assist on a 6-second cooldown.

  • Braum begins his block string and calls in Yasuo assist. After a few attacks, Yasuo Freestyle Handshake Tags back to Braum who catches the opponent in a command throw mix-up.

TLDR

Freestyle has the highest ceiling and is a lab rat’s dream. If you love to craft the longest and most optimal combos possible, this is for you.
