Welt Novaflare: Guide, Skills, Builds, Teams & More
Welt is one of the seven Standard 5-star units in the game and is always available from all banners. With the release of Patch 4.2, Welt receives a Novaflare update, which reworked his kit almost entirely, making him a fantastic Free-to-play amplifier that works with many Damage Dealers, and can even function as a pseudo-sustain unit with his utility.
Welt (Novaflare) HSR Kit Overview (Trace Level 10)
Contrary to his original kit, which attempted to balance damage dealing with team support, Welt has a much clearer identity as a supportive unit post-Novaflare. He remains reliant on his Ultimate for most of his team support — an AoE attack with a 100% base chance to inflict Imprison on all enemies for 1 turn, delaying their actions by 12% and reducing their Speed by 10%. More importantly, this Ultimate places all enemies into the “Weightless” state for 2 turns, an incredibly powerful form of crowd control in which enemies have their actions delayed by 4% every time they are attacked, up to a maximum of 8 triggers per target per turn.
Welt’s Talent further compounds this by reducing the action progress of all Weightless enemies by a massive 40% and cutting their Speed by an additional 5%. His first major trace — Retribution — emphasizes his synergy with teammates that can strike Weightless enemies as frequently as possible, increasing their damage by 10% per hit against targets in this state, stacking up to 10 times and lasting 2 turns.
This trace also grants Welt 30 Energy at the start of battle, allowing him to set up his Ultimate quickly. His second major trace further supports this by regenerating an additional 5 Energy each time he uses his Ultimate.
At 120 max Energy level, Welt should be able to upkeep the Weightless state on all enemies consistently when built around it. Welt can also establish Imprison and Speed reduction right from the start of battle through his Technique — Gravitational Imprisonment — which creates a zone that Imprisons and Slows all enemies for 1 turn upon entering combat.
The remaining parts of Welt’s kit are still oriented toward dealing damage, though less prominently. His Skill is a bounce attack that hits 5 times, with a 75% base chance per hit to reduce the target’s Speed by 10% for 2 turns. If Welt hits an enemy that is already Slowed, he deals an additional instance of damage to that target. His third major trace — Judgement — grants him an additional damage instance whenever he uses his Basic Attack or Skill, meaning Welt will deal a high number of damage instances once his debuffs are established.
Finally, his third major trace also features a stat conversion effect, increasing his Attack by 20% for every 10% of Effect Hit Rate exceeding 40%, up to a maximum of 80% Attack at 80% Effect Hit Rate.
While Welt can still be played as a damage dealer, it is clear that his utilities and damage amplification should be the primary focus. An unconditional 40% Defense Shred is very powerful, especially when stacked with other sources of Defense Shred or Defense Ignore.
Furthermore, the delay effect from the Weightless state allows teammates with high hit counts to continuously push back enemy turns, effectively turning Welt into a pseudo-sustain unit that improves the team’s overall survivability. In content where a dedicated sustain is not critical to success, Welt can fill the fourth slot in a team instead, contributing more to overall damage output in the process.
His forms of damage amplification — Defense Shred and Damage% increase — are also quite universal, meaning Welt can slot into many teams and perform his role effectively. That said, he is particularly potent when paired with units that have high hit counts. Given how central the Weightless debuff is to his kit, Welt should be built to spam his Ultimate as frequently as possible in order to maintain the Weightless state on all enemies at all times.
Welt HSR Core Skills

Basic Attack – Gravity Suppression: Deals Imaginary DMG equal to 100% of Welt’s ATK to one designated enemy.

Skill – Edge of the Void: Deals Imaginary DMG equal to 72% of Welt’s ATK to one designated enemy and further deals DMG 4 extra times, with each time dealing Imaginary DMG equal to 72% of Welt’s ATK to one random enemy. On hit, there is a 75% base chance to reduce the enemy’s SPD by 10% for 2 turn(s).

Ultimate – Synthetic Black Hole: Deals Imaginary DMG equal to 150% of Welt’s ATK to all enemies. Has a 100% base chance to Imprison hit enemy targets for 1 turn.
While Imprisoned, enemy targets have their actions delayed by 12% and their SPD reduced by 10%.
After using his Ultimate, inflicts the “Weightless” state on all enemies. When targets in “Weightless” state are attacked, their actions are delayed by 4%. This effect can trigger up to 8 time(s) per target per turn. “Weightless” lasts for 2 turn(s).

Talent – Time Distortion: Enemy targets in the “Weightless” state have their DEF reduced by 40% and their SPD reduced by 5%. When Welt attacks an enemy that is already Slowed, he additionally deals Imaginary Additional DMG equal to 100% of his ATK to the enemy.

Technique – Gravitational Imprisonment: After using Welt’s Technique, create a Special Dimension that lasts for 15 second(s). Enemies in this Special Dimension have their movement speed reduced by 50%. After entering battle with enemies in the Special Dimension, there is a 100% base chance to Imprison the enemies for 1 turn.
Imprisoned enemies have their actions delayed by 20% and SPD reduced by 10%. Only 1 Dimension Effect created by allies can exist at the same time.
Welt HSR Traces

Retribution: When an ally targets attack targets under the “Weightless” state, their DMG dealt increases by 10%. This effect stacks up to 10 times and lasts for 2 turn(s). At the start of the battle, Welt regenerates 30 Energy.

Judgment: When Welt uses Basic ATK or Skill, it additionally deals 1 extra instance of Additional DMG to the enemy target. The Additional DMG dealt when using Basic ATK is equal to 80% of Basic ATK DMG multiplier. The Additional DMG dealt when using Skill is equal to 120% of Skill DMG multiplier.

Punishment: When Welt’s Effect Hit Rate is greater than 40%, for every 10% that exceeds this value, increases ATK by 20%, up to a maximum increase of 80%. When using Ultimate, it additionally restores 5 Energy.
Welt HSR Eidolons

- Legacy of Honor: After using a Skill or Ultimate to hit a target in the “Weightless” state, deals 1 additional instance of Imaginary Additional DMG equal to 40% of the Ultimate’s DMG multiplier. This effect can only be triggered once per target per attack.
- Conflux of Stars: When his Talent is triggered, Welt regenerates 3 Energy.
- Prayer of Peace: Skill Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Basic ATK Lv. +1, up to a maximum of Lv. 10.
- Appellation of Justice: Enemy targets in the “Weightless” state have their All-Type RES reduced by 30%.
- Power of Kindness: Ultimate Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Talent Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15.
- Prospect of Glory: When using a Skill or Ultimate to hit an enemy target in the Slow state, increases CRIT Rate by 30% and CRIT DMG by 60%.
Eidolon Priority
After his Novaflare update, Welt has two incredibly valuable Eidolons in his E2 and E4, while his E1 and E6 remain relatively tame by comparison. Players should at least include Welt in their Celestial Invitation lineup so that, in the event of a pity break, there is a chance of obtaining his Eidolons and pushing him toward E4.
As for the Golden Companion Spirit shop, some players may consider purchasing his Eidolons if they are close to E4 and only need one or two more copies — though this should be a luxury reserved for players with a well-developed roster who have no more pressing needs from the shop.
His E1 and E6 both offer relatively uninspiring personal damage increases, which are not particularly relevant when Welt is used as a support. His E2, however, grants him 3 Energy whenever his Talent triggers, greatly improving his ability to recover his Ultimate quickly and tighten his rotation.
His E4 is a massive boost to his damage amplification, shredding the Defense of all enemies in the Weightless state by 30%, and is by far his strongest and most valuable Eidolon.

Premium Options

Lies Dance on the Breeze: Increases the wearer’s SPD by 18%. After the wearer uses an attack, there is a 120% base chance to inflict the “Bamboozle” state on every enemy target. While under the “Bamboozle” state, enemy targets have their DEF decreased by 16% for 2 turn(s). If the wearer’s SPD is higher than or equal to 170, there is a 120% base chance to inflict the “Theft” state on every enemy target.
While under the “Theft” state, enemy targets have their DEF decreased by 8% for 2 turn(s). When “Bamboozle” or “Theft” is repeatedly inflicted, only the most recently inflicted instance takes effect.
Cipher’s Signature Light Cone is the best supportive Nihility Light Cone in the game at the time of Welt’s Novaflare update. It grants a highly valuable Speed boost, helping Welt generate more Energy and maintain his debuffs more consistently.
It also further reduces enemies’ Defense, which is particularly valuable given that Defense Shred scales much more effectively when stacked from multiple sources.

Incessant Rain: Increases the wearer’s Effect Hit Rate by 24%. When the wearer deals DMG to an enemy that currently has 3 or more debuffs, increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 12%. After the wearer uses their Basic ATK, Skill, or Ultimate, there is a 100% base chance to implant Aether Code on a random hit target that does not yet have it. Targets with Aether Code receive 12% increased DMG for 1 turn.
Incessant Rain fills a similar role to Cipher’s Signature Light Cone, granting Welt a valuable stat — in this case, Effect Hit Rate — while further enhancing his damage amplification through the Aether Code debuff. With Silver Wolf being added to the Celestial Invitation lineup, this Light Cone will also be considerably more accessible than Cipher’s Signature Light Cone.

Holiday Thermae Escapade: Increases the wearer’s DMG dealt by 16%. After the wearer attacks, there is a 100% base chance to inflict the attacked target with Vulnerability, increasing the DMG they receive by 10% for 2 turn(s). Effects of the same type cannot stack.
This Battlepass Light Cone is a highly valuable option for any Nihility support unit, thanks to its generic yet powerful debuff effect.

Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat: When the wearer hits an enemy and if the hit enemy is not already “Ensnared,” then there is a 60% base chance to “Ensnare” the hit enemy. “Ensnared” enemies’ DEF decreases by 12% for 1 turn(s).
This Light Cone further improves Welt’s ability to shred enemies’ Defense and is broadly useful across all situations.
F2P Options

Before the Tutorial Mission Starts: Increases the wearer’s Effect Hit Rate by 20%. When the wearer attacks DEF-reduced enemies, regenerates 4 Energy.
A free Light Cone that all players have access to. The Effect Hit Rate boost is valuable for hitting the 80% Effect Hit Rate threshold, and the extra Energy Regeneration goes a long way in supporting Welt’s Ultimate rotation.
HSR Welt Main Stats
- Body: Effect Hit Rate % / Crit Rate%
- Feet: Speed
- Orb: Imaginary Damage% / Attack% / HP%
- Rope: Energy Regeneration Rate% >> Attack%
Following the Novaflare update, Welt is most effectively utilized as a Support unit to capitalize on his teamwide damage amplification, especially if you have him at E4. The primary goal for this build is to maximize the uptime of the debuffs from his Ultimate. Consequently, Speed Boots and an Energy Regeneration Rate% Rope are the best choices to ensure he acts frequently and recharges his Ultimate as quickly as possible.
For his body piece, Effect Hit Rate is the ideal choice for maximizing his utility and ensuring he consistently lands debuffs from both his kit and Light Cones like Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat. If you want to lean into a full support role, an HP% Orb is a great way to increase his durability in tougher fights.
Alternatively, Welt can still run offensive stats like a Crit Rate% chest and an Imaginary Damage or ATK% Orb, though this “Hybrid” path requires significant investment in Critical sub-stats to be truly effective. Without high-end gear, the support-focused build generally provides more consistent value to the team.
HSR Welt Sub Stats
- Speed
- Effect Hit Rate%
- Crit Damage% / Crit Rate%
Speed is the most critical sub-stat for Welt, as he needs to act as frequently as possible to generate Energy and maintain his Ultimate uptime. After securing enough Speed, prioritize Effect Hit Rate sub-stats if you are still struggling to land his debuffs consistently. Finally, any additional investment can go toward Critical stats to help boost his personal damage output.
HSR Welt Relics
Option A

Eagle of Twilight Line
- 2-Pc: Increases Wind DMG by 10%.
- 4-Pc: After the wearer uses their Ultimate, their action is Advanced Forward by 25%.
Because his Ultimate is so spammable, Welt leverages this set effectively to take more actions and further delay enemies. This synergy allows him to cycle through his turns faster, ensuring he maintains constant pressure on the enemy’s speed and turn order.
Option B

2+2 Pieces With Speed & Attack Bonus: Players can also go for any 2+2 combinations of set that gives Speed bonus as placeholders until they can transition to a full set.
HSR Welt Planar Set

Lushaka, the Sunken Seas
- 2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s Energy Regeneration Rate by 5%. If the wearer is not the first character in the team lineup, then increases the ATK of the first character in the team lineup by 12%.
Lushaka is the premier option for a support-focused Welt build. It provides a crucial boost to his Energy Regeneration Rate, which helps maintain his Ultimate uptime, while also granting a significant Attack buff to the hypercarry in the first team slot. This makes it an incredibly efficient choice for maximizing both Welt’s utility and your main damage dealer’s performance.

Sprightly Vonwacq
- 2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s Energy Regeneration Rate by 5%. When the wearer’s SPD reaches 120 or higher, the wearer’s action is Advanced Forward by 40% immediately upon entering battle.
The Vonwacq set’s advance effect allows Welt to set up his Ultimate immediately before the rest of the team moves, while also providing a valuable boost to his Energy Regeneration Rate. This ensures he can apply his debuffs at the very start of the battle, giving your other units an immediate advantage in the turn order.
HSR Welt Teammates
Welt performs best when paired with units that attack frequently, as they can more consistently trigger the delays provided by his Weightless state. Additionally, he synergizes well with debuff-reliant damage dealers and allies that offer Defense Shred, which allows for more effective stacking and significantly higher team damage.
In general, since his damage amplification is so generic, players can find a spot for him in a lot of teams, especially when he is used as a pseudo-sustain unit.
Damage Dealers

Ashveil / Feixiao / Archer: These damage dealers are fantastic partners for Welt, as their high attack frequency allows them to consistently push enemies further back in the turn order. Furthermore, the Defense Ignore built into their kits or Light Cones synergizes perfectly with Welt’s Defense Shred aura, enabling the team to bypass enemy defenses much more effectively.

Acheron / Dr. Ratio: Both these units benefit from constant debuff applications to the enemies, a role which Welt can fulfill.

Cerydra / Tribbie / Remembrance Trailblazer: These amplifiers feature a high attack frequency, making it easy to trigger the delays from Welt’s Weightless State. They also align naturally with the same damage dealers that Welt prefers, ensuring a highly cohesive team synergy.

Cipher / Silver Wolf: Nihility debuffers with a high attack frequency are excellent partners for Welt, especially those who feature Defense Shred in their kits. This synergy allows the team to consistently delay enemies while layering multiple defensive debuffs, resulting in significantly higher damage output.
HSR Welt Teams

As a versatile amplifier with good utility, Welt fits easily into most traditional hypercarry or dual-carry compositions. While he is broadly flexible, the following examples highlight the specific team structures where his abilities are most effective.
HSR Welt Value and Conclusion
Welt is the first Standard Unit to receive a Novaflare, and it is hard to overstate how transformative this update has been. Once viewed as one of the game’s weakest 5-stars, he has evolved into a fantastic, accessible support who excels at various stages of the game. He fits seamlessly into several endgame compositions—even those running without a sustain unit—and remains easy to build thanks to his strong free-to-play Light Cone options. For players lacking viable endgame supports, Welt is a high-priority project; those looking for even more utility should consider using the Golden Companion Spirit to reach E4, making him a truly competitive alternative to limited units.
