Luocha: Guide, Skills, Builds, Teams & More

Luocha was the first limited Abundance unit released in HSR, back in 1.1. Old players can’t forget the cathartic feeling switching from Natasha/Bailu to Luocha. The auto-healing and cleanse, as well as buff removal against those annoying Mara-struck enemies to prevent them from reviving.

Nowadays, with many more sustains released, Luocha sits at the back end as he only provides healing, while other sustains do much more than just keep the team alive. He can still do his job, it’s just that others can do it better, but we must not forget where it all started.

HSR Luocha Release Date

Luocha is free to claim for all players starting from Version 3.2 until the end of Version 3.4!

Luocha HSR Kit Overview (Trace Level 10)

Luocha’s kit is very straightforward. Luocha’s Skill heals an ally for 60% of his ATK plus 800 as well as cleansing one debuff due to his A2 trace. His Skill auto-casts when an ally goes below 50% HP and does not consume a Skill Point if triggered this way. The auto-cast Skill has a cooldown of 2 turns after it’s used. Luocha’s Ultimate is an AoE attack that removes one debuff on all enemies, as well as doing 200% of his ATK. Luocha gains a stack of Abyss Flower whenever he uses his Skill or Ultimate.

At 2 stacks of Abyss Flower, Luocha deploys a healing field called “Cycle of Life” (Talent) for 2 turns. Cycle of Life heals allies whenever they attack the enemy. The ally that is doing the damage heals for 18% of Luocha’s ATK plus 240, while the rest heal for a bit less: 7% of Luocha’s ATK plus 93, thanks to his A4 trace. Luocha’s other trace, his A6, gives him 70% resistance to Crown Control debuffs, such as Kafka’s Dominated or Entanglement. Last but not least, Luocha’s technique lets him start with the field up at the start of the battle.

Luocha is a no-frills sustain with no fancy gimmicks, especially compared to what we see in sustains nowadays. Luocha’s field uptime is high as long as you manage it properly. Since you cannot overstack Abyss Flowers, when his field is about to run out, don’t waste Ultimate if you have it and instead wait till the field goes down, and quickly trigger/cast his Skill and Ultimate to regain the field immediately.

Luocha HSR Core Skills

Basic Attack - Thorns of the Abyss

Basic Attack – Thorns of the Abyss: Deals Imaginary DMG equal to 100% of Luocha’s ATK to a single enemy.

Skill – Prayer of Abyss Flower: After using his Skill, Luocha immediately restores the target ally’s HP equal to 60% of Luocha’s ATK plus 800. Meanwhile, Luocha gains 1 stack of Abyss Flower.

When any ally’s HP percentage drops to 50% or lower, an effect equivalent to Luocha’s Skill will immediately be triggered and applied to this ally for one time (without consuming Skill Points).

This effect can be triggered again after 2 turn(s).

Ultimate – Death Wish: Removes 1 buff(s) from all enemies and deals all enemies Imaginary DMG equal to 200% of Luocha’s ATK. At the same time, Luocha gains 1 stack of Abyss Flower.

Talent – Cycle of Life: When Abyss Flower reaches 2 stacks, Luocha consumes all stacks of Abyss Flower to deploy a Zone against the enemy.

When any enemy in the Zone is attacked by an ally, the attacking ally’s HP is immediately restored by an amount equal to 18% of Luocha’s ATK plus 240.

The Zone’s effect lasts for 2 turns. When Luocha is knocked down, the Zone will be dispelled.

Technique – Mercy of a Fool: After the Technique is used, the Talent will be immediately triggered at the start of the next battle.

Luocha HSR Traces

Cleansing Revival: When Skill’s effect is triggered, dispel 1 debuff(s) from one designated ally.

Sanctified: When any enemy in the Zone is attacked by an ally, all allies (except the attacker) restore HP equal to 7% of Luocha’s ATK plus 93.

Through the Valley

Through the Valley: Increases the chance to resist Crowd Control debuffs by 70%.

Luocha HSR Eidolons

Luocha HSR Eidolons

  1. Absolution of the Quick: While the Zone is active, ATK of all allies increase by 20%.
  2. Bestowal from the Pure: When his Skill is triggered, if the target ally’s HP percentage is lower than 50%, Luocha’s Outgoing Healing increases by 30%. If the target ally’s HP percentage is at 50% or higher, the ally receives a Shield that can absorb DMG equal to 18% of Luocha’s ATK plus 240, lasting for 2 turns.
  3. Surveyal by the Fool: Skill Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Basic ATK Lv. +1, up to a maximum of Lv. 10.
  4. Heavy Lies the Crown: When Luocha’s Zone is active, enemies become Weakened and deal 12% less DMG.
  5. Cicatrix ‘Neath the Pain: Ultimate Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Talent +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15.
  6. Reunion With the Dust: When Ultimate is used, there is a 100% fixed chance to reduce all enemies’ All-Type RES by 20% for 2 turn(s).

Eidolon Priority

All of Luocha’s Eidolons are low value, and not worth grabbing. 20% ATK for an E1 is a laughable damage increase, when there are stuff like E1 Robin/Tribbie that give conservatively 25% DMG increase to the whole party. E2 is pretty disappointing too, since Luocha does not need more healing, and the shield is an anti-synergy for characters that benefit most from Luocha, who are DPS that want to lose HP such as Mydei and Blade. E4 is not worth mentioning as usual, since 12% less DMG from enemies is not going to save a squishy target from getting killed. E6 is the only “good” Eidolon, but it’s so expensive for how many pulls it takes, and 20% RES-PEN is such a low prize pool when you have to deal with all the other terrible Eidolons before it.

Luocha’s vertical options are very poor, but that was a good thing for F2P players back in 1.1, since you get all the performance from just getting him at E0!

HSR Luocha Light Cones

Premium Options

Echoes of the Coffin: Increases the wearer’s ATK by 24% / 28% / 32% / 36% / 40%. After the wearer uses an attack, for each different enemy target the wearer hits, regenerates 3 / 3.5 / 4 / 4.5 / 5 Energy. Each attack can regenerate Energy up to 3 time(s) this way. After the wearer uses their Ultimate, all allies gain 12 / 14 / 16 / 18 / 20 SPD for 1 turn.

This LC is not worth pulling for Luocha, and instead has found a better owner: DPS Lingsha. Luocha’s Energy gen is not that impressive on this cone, considering his only full AoE move is his Ultimate, compared to Lingsha where all her moves are AoE. The increased ATK and Speed bonus is nice, but nowhere near valuable enough to be considered worth pulling.

Perfect Timing

Perfect Timing: Increases the wearer’s Effect RES by 16% / 20% / 24% / 28% / 32% and increases Outgoing Healing by an amount that is equal to 33% / 36% / 39% / 42% / 45% of Effect RES.

Outgoing Healing can be increased this way by up to 15% / 18% / 21% / 24% / 27%.

Combined with Luocha’s 70% resistance to Crowd Control, with a bit more substats in Effect RES and Keel, Luocha becomes very hard to CC.

Honkai Star Rail Post-Op Conversation

Post-Op Conversation: Increases the wearer’s Energy Regeneration Rate by 8% / 10% / 12% / 14% / 16% and increases Outgoing Healing when they use their Ultimate by 12% / 15% / 18% / 21% / 24%.

Pretty good for Luocha, as most of his healing happens when his field is up, which usually happens right after you Ultimate to get the second Abyss Flower. The extra Energy Regen is also nice.

F2P Options

Honkai Star Rail Quid Pro Quo

Quid Pro Quo: At the start of the wearer’s turn, regenerates 8 / 10 / 12 / 14 / 16 Energy for a randomly chosen ally (excluding the wearer) whose current Energy is lower than 50%.

Luocha isn’t the best user of Quid Pro Quo, but as a free MoC Light Cone, its ability to grant 16 Energy to a teammate despite the RNG, makes it one of the best Abundance Light Cones.

Multiplication: After the wearer uses their Basic ATK, their next action will be Advanced Forward by 12%.

This 3 star Light Cone other than the low base stats is very good for him since Luocha spends 90% of the time just using Basic ATK. This Light Cone with a high speed Luocha will give him more turns due to the Action Advance, generating more SP and letting him reset his auto-Skill cooldown faster if it’s triggered. The cost is that it makes Luocha feel like paper, which is a real problem as newer enemies hit much harder.

HSR Luocha Main Stats

  • Body: Outgoing Healing Boost
  • Feet: Speed
  • Orb: ATK/HP%
  • Rope: Energy Regeneration Rope

HSR Luocha Sub Stats

  • ATK%
  • Effect RES
  • HP%
  • DEF%

Main Stats Goal & Speedtuning:

There is nothing out of the ordinary when building Luocha. Luocha’s healing scales with ATK, but his base healing is enough that you don’t need significant investment to make him work as a sustain. Luocha’s Body should be Outgoing Healing Boost, Boots are always Speed since Luocha wants to generate as much SP for the team. For the rope Energy Regeneration Rope is a no-brainer for a supportive role. Lastly for the Orb either ATK% or HP% is fine, depending on whether you want more healing for the team or a tankier Luocha.

One of Luocha’s downsides is that he scales with ATK, making him squishier than HP based healers such as Huohuo or Gallagher. Luocha’s damage contribution asymptotes to zero (he’s no Lingsha), so focus on bulk for his substats, such as HP/DEF and Effect RES.

HSR Luocha Relics

Honkai Star Rail Passerby of Wandering Cloud

Passerby of Wandering Cloud

  • 2-Pc: Increases Outgoing Healing by 10%.
  • 4-Pc: At the start of the battle, immediately regenerates 1 Skill Point.

Luocha is already a great skill point generator, so starting with an extra Skill Point makes the SP economy much more plentiful from the beginning. Truthfully, the relic Luocha equips doesn’t matter for his performance, and this is the only healer-centric relic set released so far.

Luocha Relics

2 Pc Spd/Spd or Spd/Healing

  • 2-Pc: Increases Speed by 6%.
  • 2-Pc: Increases Outgoing Healing by 10%.

Grabbing Speed has never been easier, with the addition of Sacerdos along with Messenger. There is no downside to a fast healer, with either two 2Pc Speed pieces, or if you want more healing, you can substitute with a 2Pc Cloud as well. Luocha’s relics shouldn’t be stressed, as rainbow pieces will do the job fine too.

HSR Luocha Planar Sets

Honkai Star Rail Broken Keel

Broken Keel

  • 2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s Effect RES by 10%. When the wearer’s Effect RES is at 30% or higher, all allies’ CRIT DMG increases by 10%
  • Luocha’s supportive role lends him to equip supportive planars. Any planar works, however Broken Keel along with his 70% CC Res trace pair well to become very resistant to any incoming CC.

Lushaka, the Sunken Seas

  • 2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s Energy Regeneration Rate by 5%. If the wearer is not the first character in the team lineup, then increases the ATK of the first character in the team lineup by 12%.
  • Lushaka is the strongest planar for an ATK based DPS when stacked with 3. However, any of the other supportive planars work too (Fleet, Penacony, Vonwacq) so just use the one you have.

HSR Luocha Teammates

Main DPS

Mydei and Blade

Mydei/Blade: Mydei and Blade are HP DPS that consume HP to deal damage, requiring a lot of healing, which is Luocha’s speciality.

jingliu

Jingliu: Jingliu doesn’t consume her own HP, but her teammates. Luocha’s chip healing mitigates Jingliu’s drain, preventing Jingliu from killing her teammates.

Dan Heng - Imbibitor Lunae, Qingque,Seele

Dan Heng – Imbibitor Lunae/Qingque/Seele: These units are notorious for being SP devourers. Since Luocha never uses SP unless in an Emergency, it gives SP intensive units free reign to use all the Skill Points they need.

Harmony/Nihility

Skill Point Intensive Supports

Skill Point Intensive Supports:

Luocha is very SP positive, spending the majority of the time autoing. This frees up the SP economy in teams, such as with Bronya who is known for being an SP blackhole or Robin, who doesn’t generate any SP while she’s singing.

HSR Luocha Teams

Standard Sustain: Luocha doesn’t provide any offensive buffs, but his healing is one of his best strengths. Luocha is great at keeping HP DPS like Mydei or Blade alive that cut through their HP like butter. Luocha also works well as an SP generator for units like Qingque who needs as much SP as she can to gamble them away.

HSR Luocha Pull Value and Conclusion

Luocha is pretty good at healing and keeping the team alive. So should you pull him? Absolutely not. In this era, just healing is not enough to be relevant. Due to power creep, Luocha is outclassed by most of the limited sustain roster. Luocha’s existence is also outshadowed by one unit: Gallagher. Gallagher is more SP positive, can break better, use Quid Pro Quo better, and heals more against AoE. Luocha is better at sustained healing, but both healers are weak to geting nuked by a strong attack.

Luocha’s one gimmick, buff removal on enemies, is also largely useless because Hoyo decided to make almost all buffs unremovable. Users with Luocha can still use him to clear endgame, but there is no reason to pull him when there exists a 4 star character that does almost everything better.

*Luocha and Ruan Mei are two choices gifted for free From Version 3.2-3.4. The choice is always Ruan Mei, as Luocha and his vertical options are not good compared to the sustain roster. Ruan Mei on the other hand is quintessential to Break teams, and her E1 is a solid DEF ignoring Eidolon.
