Overview

WoW Forever Level 30 PvP Overview

PvP has changed SIGNIFICANTLY in WoW Forever compated to Classic, and right now at the Level 30 cap, some classes are performing WAY better than you would probably expect if you're coming from Classic.

Blizzard has changed a MASSIVE amount of talents and abilities for basically every class, and when you combine that with only being Level 30, the entire PvP meta feels completely different. Some specs that were absolute monsters in Classic are struggling pretty badly right now, while others have become completely insane because they already have access to the talents and abilities that make their builds work.

The biggest thing to keep in mind is that Level 30 PvP is VERY different from what we're eventually going to see at Level 60. Some classes are still missing major abilities, talents, defensive tools and straight up really important parts of their kit. Meanwhile, other Classes already have almost everything they need, which gives them a pretty ridiculous advantage at this level.

This tier list is specifically focused on Level 30 1v1 Dueling, especially with the upcoming PvP tournament in mind. We're ranking every specialization based on how strong it is in a duel, looking at damage, survivability, defensive tools, CC, pressure, and most importantly, how well they actually perform across different matchups.

And obviously, this is still Beta. Blizzard is continuing to balance classes, so these rankings can and probably WILL change. Gear, consumables, Engineering, matchup knowledge, and individual player skill can also make a HUGE difference. A lower ranked spec can absolutely beat something above it if the player knows the matchup better.

At the end of the day, this is still meant to be fun, but the rankings aren't random either. They're based on a LOT of testing, dueling, Theorycrafting and experience with how these specs are actually performing right now.

If you're trying to get serious about dueling, preparing for the tournament, or you just want to know which specs are currently terrorizing everybody at Level 30, this should give you a pretty damn good idea of where everything stands. Note that is including the five legacy talent points from Talented.

S Tier Explained

S Tier: Warlock and Hunter

Warlock

Warlocks are looking incredibly strong at Level 30, especially with the amount of survivability and sustained pressure they can bring to a duel.

Demonology is one of the standout builds right now, particularly with Soul Link providing a massive 30% damage reduction giving them a huge boost to their survivability, as well as a little 3% damage buff. Summon Succubus / Summon Incubus had their damage buffed significantly and come with Seduction, which charms the enemy for 15 seconds, and when you pair them up with Demonic Brand adding ano additional 15-20% to the Demons damage, this makes not just Warlock deadly, but even just dealing with their Demon will be difficult.

Warlocks also have Summon Voidwalker which provides them with an absolutely massive absorb shield from Sacrifice and thanks to Master Summoner and Fel Domination Warlock have TWO cycles of pets you need to deal with. They have three main DoTs. Two of them ar fresh ranks, while Corruption is buffed in their talents. Between their DoTs, Fear, Demons, unmatched CC and ability to slowly wear opponents down and quickly swap to Draining the life out of them with Drain Life, Warlock an absolute NIGHTMARE to fight.

One of the biggest advantages Warlocks have is that they don't necessarily need to kill you quickly. They can keep applying pressure through their DoTs and pet damage while using Fear to control the fight. Soul Link, Demonic Embrace and your pet making you tankier than most players. And due to the extra 5 talents points from the Legacy tree, opening up the massive spell power buff from Demonic Knowledge, I think a skilled Warlock will wipe any class out.

They're not without weaknesses, though. Warlocks are still missing some important tools at Level 30, particularly a reliable spell interrupt, since Summon Felhunter doesn't learn Spell Lock until 36, however Summon Succubus's Seduction works as a fantastic pseudo interrupt. It's not the same thing, but it will interrupt until it DR's, giving you a few short interrupts.

Hunter

Hunter are looking REALLY strong at Level 30, and one of the biggest reasons is just how much damage they can put out while keeping their opponents at a distance, and of coure the MASSIVE amount of utility the new pet families bring. Marksmanship in particular has some incredible burst damage and Beast Mastery benefits massively from how powerful pets have become in WoW Forever. Pets now scale with your stats, which makes them significantly more dangerous than they were in Classic.

Hunters also have some fantastic tools for controlling fights. Between Concussive Shot, their traps, and their ability to constantly apply pressure with both ranged attacks and pet damage, while dealing semi decent melee dmg if they too, hey can be extremely difficult to deal with, especially for melee classes. One of the biggest advantages Hunters have is that their pets can continue putting out damage even when the Hunter is being pressured. This is particularly noticeable with Beast Mastery, where pets can be surprisingly difficult to kill while still dealing a TON of damage.

Overall, Hunter is one of the strongest classes in the game right now, with Marksmanship and Beast Mastery being particularly nasty in the current Beta.

A Tier Explained

A Tier: Shaman, Priest and Mage

A Tier classes are still EXTREMELY strong at this level and can absolutely compete with the best classes in the game, especaily if in the right hands. The biggest difference between these and S Tier is that they tend to have a few more unfavorable matchups or weaknesses that good players can easily take advantage of.

Shaman

Shaman is a bit of a weird one right now because Enhancementt is an absolute MONSTER when everything lines up, an it's a counter to one of the S Tier classes, Warlock, but the class as a whole has some pretty noticeable weaknesses.

The biggest thing going for Enhancement is its INSANE burst damage. Between Windfury Weapon and Stormstrike, Shamans are capable of absolutely deleting someone if they get a few good procs. Seriously, some of the damage Enhancementt can dish out at Level 30 is wildy ridiculous. They've also got some fantastic utility with Purge, their plethora of Totems, Ghost Wolf and more. One of the more interesting changes in WoW Forever is the ability to attack while in Ghost Wolf, which gives Enhancement another way to maintain pressure while staying mobile. And unlike a lot of other melee classes, Shaman can also heal themselves, which makes them surprisingly difficult to deal with when they get the opportunity to reset and recover.

However, Enhancement still has some weaknesses. Getting kited or controlled can be a MASSIVE problem, especially against classes that can consistently keep them at a distance. Their damage can also be pretty inconsistent depending on how often Windfury Weapon decides to cooperate. Elemental and Restoration aren't looking nearly as impressive at the moment either, with Elemental in particular struggling to put out competitive damage compared to Enhancement.

Shaman are absolutely capable of winning duels against classes ranked above them, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Enhancement climb higher as players continue experimenting with builds. But for now, their reliance on burst damage and some difficult matchups are enough to keep them in A Tier.

Priest

Priests rececntly got their Penance nerfed, which brings them down from S Tier to A Tier. They are still absolute MONSTERS in Level 30 PvP right now, with Discipline in particular being one of the strongest dueling builds in WoW Forever.

The biggest thing going for them right now is just how much they can do while being incredibly difficult to kill. Between Power Word: Shield, Penance, Psychic Scream, and their ability to dispel every buffs, means they've got an answer to almost everything. And the scary part is that they're not just sitting there healing themselves. Mind Blast can dish out massive damage, Penance provides an insane amount of value and damn ear full healing them, but also able to crank the damage when needed as well.

Their survivability, damage, and mana efficiency make them incredibly difficult to deal with, especially for classes that can't maintain enough pressure to break through their shields and healing.

Mage

Frost Mage is easily the strongest Mage specialization for Level 30 PvP right now, and it's not even close,

Between Frost Novaova, Frostbolt, Ice Lance and Shatter Frost Mages have an INSANE amount of control and can dish out some pretty nasty burst damage while keeping their opponents at a distance, esepcially if they some good RNG and Crit. The addition of Ice Lance in WoW Forever has made Frost even more threatening, especially when combined with Shatter and the ability to freeze targets.

On top of that, they've still got Polymorph for crowd control and Ice Block for when things get a little too spicy. Melee classes in particular can have an absolutely miserable time against a good Frost Mage. If they can't consistently close the gap, they're going to spend most of the duel getting slowed, rooted, and blasted from range.

However, Mage does have some difficult matchups, particularly against Priests, Warlock and certain Druid builds since they can't be sapped in form and they shift out of their Frost Nova and sloes. Fire and Arcane are both very bad at PvP and nowhere near as well as Frost is at the moment, so most of Mage's A Tier placement comes from just how strong Frost alone is.

B Tier Explained

B Tier: Druid and Rogue

B Tier classes are still VERY capable of winning duels, but they're a bit more matchup dependent than the classes above them. Both Druid and Rogue have some incredibly strong builds at Level 30, but they also have weaknesses that can make certain matchups an absolute nightmare.

Druid

Druid actually in a pretty crazy spot at Level 30, with both Feral Combat and Restoration showing some serious potential in 1v1 PvP.

One of the biggest strengths Druids have is all that versatility. Being able to swap between Cat Form, Bear Form, and their normal caster form gives them a TON of flexibility depending on what they're fighting. Feral Combat can dish out some pretty nasty damage, while Bear Form provides a massive survivability boost against physical damage dealers.

Restoration is also surprisingly strong right now, especially with access to Swiftmend. Having an instant heal available can make a MASSIVE difference in duels, particularly against classes that can interrupt your casts or put out consistent pressure.

Druid also have some fantastic matchups against classes like Rogue and Mage, thanks to their mobility, healing, and ability to remove slows and roots through shapeshifting. However, they've got some pretty rough matchups too. Priests in particular can be an absolute NIGHTMARE, and Hunter can cause serious problems with Scare Beast. Even an opposing Druid can be difficult because of Hibernate.

Another big issue is mana management. Constantly shifting forms, healing yourself, and trying to maintain pressure will absolutely burn through your mana surprisingly quickly. Overall, Druids are extremely versatile and can absolutely compete with some of the strongest classes in the game, but their matchup dependency and mana issues are what's keeping themin B Tier for now.

Rogue

Rogue always been one of the most dangerous classes in 1v1 PvP, and even with much of their toolkit missing at Level 30, they've still got a massive amount of tools to work with.

Their biggest strength is their ability to control how a fight plays out. Between Cheap Shot, Kidney Shot, Gouge and Vanish, a good Rogue can create opportunities to deal damage while preventing their opponents from fighting back. Subtlety in particular has some very strong talents tailoring for PvP that make this playstyle even more effective. However, Rogues aren't without their problems. Their damage isn't quite where you'd want it to be against some of the tankier classes, especially Priests and Warlocks. They can also struggle pretty badly when they can't maintain control of a fight or get forced into extended combat. And most imporantly, they don't have Blind.

Rogues are definitely one of the more skill dependent classes on this list. A good Rogue who knows how to manage their cooldowns, control their opponent, and reset fights can be incredibly dangerous, but they're going to have to work a LOT harder for some of their wins compared to the classes in S Tier.

C Tier Explained

C Tier: Paladin and Warrior

C Tier classes are having a pretty rough time in Level 30 PvP right now. That doesn't mean they're completely useless, because both Paladin and Warrior can absolutely win duels, but they're missing some important tools that make them so strong at higher levels. With the amount of damage, crowd control, and survivability that some of the other classes have access to, these two are going to have to work a LOT harder to come out on top.

Paladin

Paladins are in a pretty interesting spot at Level 30, but unfortunately, they're struggling to keep up with almost all of the stronger classes in the current PvP meta.

One of the biggest issues with Retribution is just how easily it can be kited. Against classes like Mage and Hunter, actually getting close enough to deal meaningful damage can be an absolute NIGHTMARE. Even with Blessing of Freedom and Hammer of Justice maintaining consistent pressure against good players can be pretty difficult. However, Paladins still have some incredible defensive tools. Between Divine Shield, Lay on Hands and their ability to heal themselves whenever they want, they can be extremely frustrating to kill. However, surviving a duel and actually winning it are two VERY different things.

Holy is actually showing some decent potential right now, especially with Shockadin builds utilizing Holy Shock to deal damage from range while still having access to insanely strong healing and utility. This gives Paladins another way to approach certain matchups without having to rely entirely on melee damage.

Overall, Paladin aren't necessarily terrible, and they've definitely got the tools to win some fights. But their lack of consistent offensive pressure, especially with Retribution, makes it difficult to justify putting them any higher than C Tier at the moment.

Warrior

Warrior is unfortunately having a REALLY rough time in Level 30 PvP, and a lot of that comes down to simply not having access to the tools they need to compete with some of the stronger classes.

One of the biggest problems is their inability to consistently stay on top of opponents. Between all the slows, roots, CC and mobility that other classes have access to, Warriors can spend a ridiculous amount of time just trying to reach their target. And even when they finally connect, their damage isn't dangeous enough right now. That's a pretty massive problem for a class that relies so heavily on maintaining melee uptime to generate Rage and put out pressure.

Consumables like Free Action Potion can make a HUGE difference in certain matchups, but relying on consumables just to have a reasonable chance of connecting with your opponent isn't exactly ideal. Protection is actually looking a little more promising than Arms or Fury in some situations, mainly because of its additional survivability. However, being harder to kill doesn't necessarily solve the problem of struggling to deal enough damage to finish off an opponent.

Warriors are one of those classes that I expect to improve significantly as we get closer to Level 60 and gain access to more of their toolkit. But at the current Level 30 cap, they're definitely struggling compared almost all of the other Classes
