Overview

Did you know that you can pull off a Burn build without the Ignition Core?

Due to its versatility, The Core allows you to do so! In this guide, we'll cover how Rarran did it.

The sections below will cover the build's core items and skills, but be sure to watch Rarran's full video to see every decision made.

Core Combos and Synergies

The Core + Immolating Spark

Your starting skill will usually help inform what direction you take your comp since it will always be of a Gold rarity. In this run's case, it was Immolating Spark.

Immolating Spark

So although Rarran's opening item was The Core instead of the Immolating Core, he still chose to go for a Burn build.

Since The Core has the effect of being Charged by what's on the left while Charging what's on its right, it can be versatile and adaptable in its build paths.

Regardless of the direction you take it, you'll want to synergize it with fast-casting and/or Multicast items.

The Rocket Launcher served as one of the build's main primary sources of Damage and Burn while acting as a Charge activator to the left of The Core with its Multicast.

It was also set to the left of the Duct Tape to also provide defensive value with Duct Tape's adjacent Shielding effect. Throughout the run, Rarran would look for ways to decrease its casting time, such as with Feathers from Loot.

While all other items Charged The Core, the Heavy Welding Helmet was the only item to the right of The Core.

Since Rarran was able to Enchant it with Heavy, it offered a ton of value being a source of offense, defense, and enemy disruption.

Alongside the Heavy Welding Helmet, additional Slows were provided by Cool LEDs and Heavy GPU. These items have a nice synergy as Cool LEDs automatically casts when the Core is used and the Heavy GPU Hastes The Core.

Last but not least among the active board items is First Aiden, which offers more Haste and adds a bit of Healing which can help against Poison matchups.

Supportive Items and Skills

Supportive Items

If you're strong enough to field him, having a Walter Cooler on your board throughout the early game (especially an upgraded one) can really boost your long term survivability.

Sometimes it might be worth using him in PvE encounters and then benching him for PvP fights if you're unsure how strong you are.

The Boilerroom Brawler PvE encounter is a great one to target in general for Dooley, but an item that you really want to drop is the Hammer.

Throughout his run, Rarran was constantly adjusting his Stash to target specific items to upgrade with the Hammer. Remember to always have at least 3 Tools and keep an eye on your XP before you level up!

Supportive Skills

Finding the Skills you want can be inconsistent, but here's an idea of the type of themes you'll want to consider for this build.

In general, look for ways to empower your Burn or ways to bolster your defenses to give your Burn more time to ramp up.

Conflagration (scales Burn)

conflagration skill

Creeping Chill (buys you time)

creeping chill skill

Defensive Stance (scales your defenses and is good with fast casts/Multicasts)

defensive stance skill

Improvised Protection (scales with Crit damage)
