Overview

Many builds in The Bazaar are multi-facet contraptions with a ton of moving pieces. When you do X, do Y. When Y triggers, apply Z. You get the idea.

Crazy powerful combos are what the game’s all about. We’re always trying to find creative ways to beat our opponents in the coolest fashion possible.

So how about with just one weapon?

Kripp turns Flagship into a one weapon machine! Utilizing his superior game knowledge he created a stellar combo that will truly make his enemies bow before him!

Core Combos and Synergies

Arming the Boat for Destruction

All Flagship builds are centered around enabling its Multicast. The maximum number you can reach is +5, but due to Flagship’s Large size (and requiring a Property), it can sometimes be tricky to fulfill it entirely.

With that said, Kripp’s build is a prime example that you can still have a powerful ship with four Multicast. What’s more important is the synergies.

When creating a build that relies on a single weapon, there’s a few things that are very important to keep in mind.

  1. Haste
    • In order to rely on a single item, it needs to be activated as often as possible. You’ll want to find a way to have permanent uptime on Haste. Otherwise it’s really hard to keep up against boards with multiple active threats.
  2. Cooldown Reduction
    • Similar to Haste, Cooldown reduction means more uses more often. It can sometimes be challenging to scale this effectively, but certain supporting items can make a big difference on their own.
  3. Crit Chance
    • If you only have one weapon, you’re going to want it to be dealing double damage. Crit Chance is also a key way to help scale or proc additional skill effects (see Supportive Items and Skills below).
    • So long as your core build can support these traits, it should all be smooth sailing.
    • While you can’t always rely on getting a specific enchant, one you should very much look out for is the Radiant enchant. This is extremely important because it prevents your one weapon from getting locked down by the opponent. Without it, you’re super vulnerable to Slows, Freeze, or even item destruction.

As mentioned above, Cooldown reduction is a top priority. So much so that Silencer is a key item despite its lack of a tag. It doesn’t even contribute any Multicast.

Being an item with no tag other than its size makes it a challenging one to find and upgrade. So when given the chance to upgrade any item of choice, you may want to prioritize Silencer over other items.

Kripp managed to apply a Deadly enchant to the Silencer, giving it an unbelievably strong bonus. Crit Chance often comes at the cost of more board space, or through multiple skills, so adding this to Silencer is a huge power spike.

Crow’s Nest is available very early and is super easy to find. You can find it at Bronze, making a Large vendor on Day One a likely possibility.

It’s a great source of Crit Chance early on, and while it does take a lot of space, it pulls its weight thanks to its Lifesteal passive. That, and it fulfills the Property tag for Flagship’s Multicast.

There is however still room for improvement here. It’s possible to obtain other sources of Crit Chance, and even the Lifesteal passive can be acquired with the right skill (Quality over Quantity).

Kripp mentioned that he would’ve replaced it with a better Property had he found one (and got the right skills), but despite that Crow’s Nest is still a solid choice.

The final main piece of the puzzle is the Captain’s Wheel. This was Kripp’s source of permanent Haste to help keep the boat running at all times.

Again, he also would’ve preferred to pick up more Haste skills (like Crashing Waves) so that he could drop the Captain’s Wheel in favor of better items. This would allow more space to fit a Small Ammo item alongside a Small Tool and reach +5 Multicast.

However, at the very least the Captain’s Wheel did a fantastic job at scaling the Catfish!

Supportive Items and Skills

The Catfish's most notable factor is actually the Friend tag, more so than its effect itself. Though having some fast scaling Poison damage is nothing to scoff at!

Skills are a huge part of what makes a one weapon build function. Here are some great ones that are worth hunting down.

One of, if not the best skill for this build is Improvised Weaponry. Since reaching high Crit Chance is a big priority, Improvised Weaponry offers some much needed Damage scaling!

Knife Tricks is another phenomenal pickup. Every individual cast procs the Cooldown reduction, so even if you were unable to upgrade to a higher tier Silencer, you’ll still be able to reach an incredibly low Cooldown with just a few attacks!

Flagship relies mostly on its fast repetitive damage with Lifesteal to keep it going. Where it lacks is disruption. Temporal Strike covers that weakness nicely by applying enough Slow to keep the opposing board at snail speed indefinitely!

While it may not be a permanent Haste uptime, on-start skills are very useful to make sure you either get the jump on, or keep up with your opponent.

The final skill isn’t relevant for every Flagship build, but it sure puts in work alongside Catfish. Scaling one Poison per hit adds up fast and gives an alternative win condition against the big Shield builds.
