Overview

For this perfect 10-0 run, Kripparrian opened with an Ambergris and the Left-Handed skill (grants leftmost Weapon +24 damage).

He immediately decided that he's going to try to do a one-weapon build - so if you've ever wondered how to pull it off, this is a textbook beginning-to-end example!

Make sure to check out Kripp's video guide to the right to see the context of all his decisions.

Core Combos and Synergies

Flagship (the one Weapon)

flagship

The Flagship makes for one of the best build-arounds if you're going for a one-weapon Vanessa. Its main challenge is finding a Tool, Ammo, Property, and Friend to hit its 5x Multicast threshold.

By building around this, you can create a massive burst engine that will dominate most early matchups and put you on track for a Day 10 win.

You can find it somewhat easily by looking for the Pol vendor, which sells Large items. While you're there, you can also look for your next core item, the Crow's Nest.

Crow's Nest (Property Activator)

crow's nest

The Crow's Nest qualifies as your Property activator while giving your Flagship a huge boost in Crit, along with Lifesteal, which is your main source of survivability.

Harpoon (Tool + Ammo Activator)

harpoon

The Harpoon is one of Vanessa's best items in general - it having BOTH your Tool and Ammo tags essentially makes it a must-have in this build.

You can increase its Ammo capacity at Curio, from Loot (you get a +2 bonus for having a Friend), and the following PvE encounters:

  • Level 5 - Preening Duelist (700 HP)
  • Level 5 - Scount Trooper (750 HP)
  • Level 6 - Hakurvian Rocket Trooper (1000HP)

Pesky Pete (Friend Activator)

Vanessa usually has a lot of Friends to choose from, but with the Oceanic Rush Skill, Kripp wanted to make sure that it only hit either the Flagship or Harpoon (Crow's Nest doesn't count since it doesn't cast).

Oceanic Rush

Because of this, he had to find a Small Friend that didn't have the Aquatic tag.

The one he found was Pesky Pete, which can drop from the Bloodreef Captain PvE encounter, but any Small non-Aquatic Friend will do.

Pete fits particularly well however since he can be positioned next to the Crow's Nest for its adjacent activation.

Supportive Items and Skills

Damage Scaling

Once your 5x Multicast is taken care of, your goal should be to support your engine with Damage scaling from your remaining item slot and Skills.

For the last Small item slot, Kripp used Silencer for most of his run but couldn't find an upgrade so opted or a Gold-rarity Honing Steel instead.

Regarding Skills, try to maximize your Crit-chance and Skills that synergize with the Large-size tag. You should be able to find some good ones at Day 7-8 and onward.

Stash Value

With any successful run, you're going to want to make use of your Stash space. In this particular run, Kripp used the Tropical Island to boost his survivability with Coconuts and Citrus.
