One of the two main benefits of leveling up your character in Windrose is access to new Talent Points. These points provide significant bonuses to your character playstyle, and while there are over 30 nodes to put your points, you only have a maximum of 12 points to dish out.
Note: these 12 points are because of the current level 15 cap in the Early Access
Where do you put your points? There's lots to choose from, but here is the "God Build" - the absolute best all-rounder choice for your points.
God Spec
The God Build focuses on stamina and survival.
Stamina is extremely useful in combat to keep you dodging and swinging your weapon. It's also extremely valuable outside of combat for traversing the map and harvesting resources.
Survival is key because, well, dying sucks. Sure you don't lose all your loot but you -do- lose your food and rested buffs and waste a lot of time.
Here is the overall build:
The key nodes for the God Build are Agile, Marathon Runner, Just a Flesh Wound, and Too Angry to Die.
Agile
Agile reduces the stamina cost of your dash and jump actions. Dash = dodge, so reducing this stamina cost by almost half is incredibly valuable for keeping yourself alive.
Marathon Runner
Marathon Runner is simply a boost to your overall stamina. 50 points is significant, and allows you to dodge and attack more often before running out of juice.
There are big out of combat benefits to this talent as well when it comes to time spent sprinting around islands and gathering resources.
Just a Flesh Wound
Just a Flesh Wound is probably the least convincing of all the talents in this build. Damage reduction is nice, but as % reduction this is most noticeable against big hits which you really want to avoid anyway. Of course it still goes ways to keeping you alive, and most damage you take is melee, so there's plenty of reason to take this.
Too Angry to Die
The last talent for this build is Too Angry to Die. At a time where you would die, this would instead keep you alive.
The long cooldown may put some players off, but unless you are chain dying you should still see the benefit of this talent digging you out of a sticky situation. You only really need one point in this talent too as you shouldn't find yourself needing it every 10 minutes instead of 16 - if you do, then perhaps you need to adjust your strategy! This is especially true in boss fights.
Summary
You can respec your points at any time in Windrose, so don't worry about experimenting with your playstyle and choosing different options. The God Build is an incredibly valuable all-rounder build, but you may find you prefer something else for your specific pirate!
