Overview

This guide will go over my go-to Palworld base setup to optimize the amount of space while reducing the chance of Pal AI breaking. This works whether you have 20 pals or 50. All that changes is how many workstations you can operate at once. We'll begin at the Foundations and guide you all the way through, step-by-step.

If you're wondering where to start your base, check out our list of the best base locations for Palworld 1.0.

Foundation

Place the box in the middle of a 2x2 foundation.

Go out 7 on each side (not counting the 2x2).

At the end go 6 across (2 extra on each side).

Connect all sides in a circle like pattern.

Put triangle foundations on the edges to round out.

Fill the rest in.

Walls

For walls you can use any material but glass helps bring in natural light.

You will want to go up 3 to 5 walls high. The higher you go the less likely it is for Pals to get stuck on steps and other things in your base. Use basic and diagonal walls.

Fill the rest in.

Stairs

For the stairs you will want to place it in the corner with 2 out on each side (ignoring the triangle). This will give plenty of space for pals to move.

You will go up with the walls. This will also leave a 2x2 space just like on the start of the stairs.

Ceiling

Fill in the ceiling with the opening for the stairs.

After this you will repeat the steps of walls and stairs for 6 levels (at most).

Stairs 2

When going to place stairs for the next level make sure to set up temp platforms (shown with wood).

Then remove the platform afterwards.

Final Palbox Placement

To optimize the amount of space in each base you will want to remove and replace your palbox and put it on the middle floor (4th platform as shown here.

You can also place some stuff close to your Palbox like Guild Chest, Item Retrieval Machine, and whatever else you want.

Open "Elevator"

For easy access to the different floors you can open up a small part to use as an elevator when using a flying pal.

Storage Room

On the bottom floor is where I would suggest putting your storage. Block this off with a door as to not let Pals get in.

Place as many chests as you can.

This is all for mass storage but you do not want Pals going to the chests all the time and increasing their travel time. We will put chests nearby work stations for pals to put stuff in. You will just manually move stuff when you need to.

You will also eventually place Item Retrieval Machines throughout your base so organization is not that needed

Workstation Placements

These are not 1 for 1 placements and the space will depend on the size of different structures throughout the tiers.

Pal Beds & Hot Springs

Place the Pal Beds around the edge with a couple Hot Springs in a half circle in the middle. The amount you need will depend on the amount of pals you have. If you need to you may want a 2nd floor dedicated to these as well.

Workstations

Place your crafting workstations in the middle. Place chests at the end. Then your furnaces, kitchens, quarries, plantations, and ranches on the outer rings.

High Pressure Crude Oil Extractor

If you do not have space below your base you can open up some of your floor (carefully) to be able to place 1 to 3 Crude Oil extractors. You will want to place pillars on the edge and then remove a small amount of foundation.
