Diablo 4 Barbarian BuildWhirlwind Summoner

Season 8

Build Summary

Important Use Bac Rune for open world and dungeons. Use Igni for Pit Runs. The main damage source from this build is Call of the Ancients. Whirlwind does not do damage at all. It is actually very weak by itself. Using this Rune combination we are able to spawn Earthquakes as we go. You do not have to spam Whirlwind, or maintain much resources, simply running next to the monsters and dropping Earthquakes will clear all content for you. If you run out of Fury, continue to run next to monsters until you gain Fury back.

How It Works

Whirlwind / Summoner Damage

This build will be running on a Dual Wield set up in order to take advantage of your Skill Points. The reason we run a Dual Wield is Furious Whirlwind applies Bleed when it hits. Rage of Harrogath has a chance to reduce our cooldowns every time that Bleed is applied. We can take advantage of Wallop to gain extra damage is we run a One-handed Mace, while still gaining the effect of Furious Whirlwind by using an One-handed Sword. If we were to use a Polearmor or a Two-handed Sword to apply Bleed we would miss out on Wallop

Rupture Summoner Damage

This build will be running on a Polearm set up in order to take advantage of Heavy Handed. The reason we run a Polarm is Furious Whirlwind applies Bleed when it hits while using a Slashing. Rage of Harrogath has a chance to reduce our cooldowns every time that Bleed is applied. The Polearm will need to be paired with the Executioner's Glyph in order to maximize damage, so leveling this will be priority. Other viable options would be a Two-handed Axe combined with the Cleaver Glyph. This will give you the same benefits, but you'll gain 10% increased Critical Strike Chance against Vulnerable enemies.

Fury Management

DO NOT SPAM WHIRLWIND UNLESS THERE ARE MONSTERS AROUND

To maintain Fury you'll need to have your Call of the Ancients cooldown at 9.5 seconds. That can be done with either a Greater Affix on Arreat's Bearing on the Call of the Ancients Cooldown Reduction (See planner). If you do not have a Greater Affix you can temper Call of the Ancient Cooldown Reduction on your rings. The reason this is so important Korlic generates 10 Fury each time he does damage. The more Ancients you have up, the more Fury you get back.

Using Bold Chieftain will allow you to keep Rallying Cry running 100% of the time. This will give you 30% increased Fury generation. If you're still running out of Fury Yen's Blessings is a great way to add more Fury Generation. You can also drop Ire or Executioner for Wrath to help with Fury Management.

Offense

  • Earthquakes will be your main source of damage with this build, but your most powerful Earthquakes will come from Call of the Ancients.
  • Aspect of Earthquakes increased your damage while standing in an Earthquake and for 4 seconds after you leave it. On top of that, it also increases your Earthquake damage as well.
  • Executioner's Aspect spawns an Earthquake whenever you Overpower, this can only occur once every 4 seconds. Your Earthquake damage is increased by 5% for everyone 100 Strength you have.
  • Aspect of Incendiary Fissues simply increases the damage of your Earthquakes.
  • Vehement Brawler Aspect gives you damage whenever you Cast your ultimate skill.
  • Call of the Ancients will be your main source of damage. When you use this Ultimate it will spawn an Earthquake. This Earthquake will be your strongest version. We will be stacking Summon Damage, along with Ultimate Damage which directly affects your Earthquake spawned by Call of the Ancients. That Earthquake also is run through every other Earthquake modifier you have i.e. Aspect of Earthquakes. This results in massive damage!
  • Aspect of Ancestral Charge gives us increased damage to Summons even though we don't use Charge it still gives us a big increase to damage.
  • Aspect of Ancestral Echoes gives you more Summon damage as well as a chance on Lucky Hit to summon more Ancients that will perform Whirlwind. Aspect of Apogeic Furor** will give us stacking Ultimate damage, which will increase the Earthquakes* summoned by our Call of the Ancients

Uniques

Key Build Piece

  • Rage of Harrogath is the key to making this build work. Because we are running our Furious Whirldwind in our Skill Tree, Whirlwind will apply Bleed** to enemies it hits. Anytime we apply Bleed to an enemy while wearing Rage of Harrogath we have up to a 60% chance to reduce the cooldown of all of our skills by 1 second each time Bleed* is applied. With this combination we can reset the cooldown of Call of the Ancients almost instantly if we have a big pack of monsters and ocntinue to Whirlwind
  • The Ugly Bastard Helmet takes any direct damage you do (no damage over time like Bleeds) and converts it to Fire Damage then it takes that Fire Damage and multiplies it by up to 100%. This is big big damage.
  • Arreat's Bearing is 100% necessary for this build. It will bring the cooldown of your Call of the Ancients down to the lowest it can go. Skills can only gain a total of 75% cooldown reduction and this one piece will give you that. This combined with Rage of Harrogath gives allows you to spam your Ultimate.

Mythic Uniques

*I have not gotten to test Ring of Starless Skies and I would highly suggest not using any other Mythics for this build Ring of Starless Skies adds damage to all of your abilities after you spend primary resources.
