Build Details

How It Works
Summary

The Storm Lord Druid Build is BACK! It's now improved & a lot more fun to play. Call forth the power of storms as you rapidly Claw away at your foes. Storm Lord 4.0 is a Melee Basic Attack Druid with a focus on Claw & Petrify. It squeezes the Paragons for a good balance of survivability & dps. The playstyle is: charge at enemies, Stone & pull them in (Godslayer) & evading trough them to lower the Ult cooldown (Flickerstep) while spamming basic attacks to trigger many procs + 1 to 2 extra basic attacks per hit. The DPS is not META but it's reasonable, so around A tier.

NOTE: This is the Regular Version of the build!!! Check my profile for a new version with the NEW Tears of Blood Unique Glyph if interested. Season 2 is Ongoing & after extensive testing I bring you a Melee Basic Attack Druid with a Spammy DPS & Stuns Synergy for the archetype. The build's easy to gear up & get things going but requires 2 non-codex aspects. 4 out of 5 Uniques are Duriel drops too. As usual, I’ll evolve & keep my builds updated. This is one such build for the Druid Class called Storm Lord 4.0

VAMPIRIC POWERS:

  1. Metamorphosis = Evading making us unstoppable is great! This helps triggering Tibault's Will's unique special/effect. Also causes Vampiric Curse (read below why it's needed)
  2. Prey on the Weak = it's good bit of extra dps but also good synergy with Flickerstep build so we don't require Accursed Touch as evading through enemies will keep the curse on them (due to Metamorphosis).
  3. Anticipation = -20% cooldown time for our Petrify is great!
  4. Moonrise = TOP synergy for this builds. Why? Well each basic attack is actually two, BUT it can also end up being 3 due to our Key Passive so the bonus DMG to basic attacks really adds up.
  5. Sanguine Brace = a very good fit for classes that can keep the fortify up (like a Druid) for that extra +8% crit chance is great here. Alternative: Hemomancy = this one helps with trash mobs clear and also heals us a bit every 4 seconds. Very good on Overworld content like Helltide or Blood Harvest.

Good Aspects to use before you get all Uniques:

  • Overcharged Aspect (Ring 2)
  • Ghostwalker Aspect (Boots)
  • Aspect of Might/Vigorous Aspect (Pants) some may prefer using Legendary Pants for higher tier NMDs and only swap to Tibault's Will for Bosses or for easier content for the Spirit generation.
  • Aspect of The Protector/Exploiter's Aspect/Stormshifter Aspect (Helm)
  • Conceited Aspect OR Edgemaster's Aspect (for 2h weapon) OR Conceited + Edgemaster's (if using a 1h+off-hand combo)

In-Depth Explanation

Paragon Boards & Glyphs Order of lvlup

In what order to unlock the boards?

You want do it this way:

  • Board 2 is Heightened Malice
  • Board 3 is Thunderstruck
  • Board 4 is Constricting Tendrils
  • Board 5 is Ancestral Guidance

I recommend this order so that you can slot in the more important Glyphs (Spirit & Territorial) early as well as to make sure the last board is the one that has the least amount of Yellow/Rare nodes in it (in case you lack core stats). We're using 5 Boards go getting the Stats required for the Rare (Yellow) nodes on boards 4 and 5 may be a problem at first but with the uniques and the right gear rolls it will eventually be okay. You may also need to slightly modify HOW you reach from one cluster & board to another if you lack a specific stat.

Why pick those boards?

I've selected the boards based on two criteria: how much of the bonuses my glyphs require are within range of the socket (Wil, Int, Dex) and also what yellow & blue node clusters I can take from those boards. Since we're using 5 boards it meant we can not Invest heavily into the yellow & blue clusters in all 5 boards and sacrifices had to be made. There are amazing synergies in each of the 5 boards for both DPS and Survivability and I focused on patching up the Armor & Resistances above all else.

The Starting Board has 70 WIL near the socket making it a very good choice for our 1st WIL Glyph (Werewolf)

Heightened Malice has 49 DEX near the socket making it a very good choice for our 1st DEX Glyph (Spirit)

Thunderstruck has enough WIL near the socket to activate the bonus effect of our 2nd WIL Glyph (Electrocution). On top of that the Thunderstruck Legendary Node is an amazing synergy for this build + has a nice Crit dmg + Vulnerable dmg nodes cluster near it.

Constricting Tendrils is a perfect fit board for us as not only does it have plenty of DPS & Survivability blue and yellow node clusters (both near the socket & not too far from it), but it also has a solid 49 DEX near the socket for our Territorial Glyph's bonus dmg (which boosts the x% bonus dmg of Thunderstruck).

Ancestral Guidance has enough DEX near the socket to activate the bonus effect of our 3rd DEX Glyph (Outmatch). This board also has a Rare/Yellow +All Resistance node near the Socket, which outmatch can boost to a total of 13.5% + the 6.7% when we also meet the 25+ DEX required.

In what order to Level Up the Glyphs?

First, focus on getting all of the Glyphs to lvl 15, 1-by-1 and in this order: 1. Spirit 2. Territorial 3. Outmatch 4. Electrocution 5. Werewolf

Then, get all of the Glyphs to lvl 21, 1-by-1 and in this order: 1. Spirit 2. Territorial 3. Outmatch 4. Electrocution 5. Werewolf

Note about Gear: Godslayer Crown is what I picked for the Helm Slot BUT if you get uber lucky with some Uber Duriel kills and get a Shako/Harlequin's Crest it's going to be an obvious good pick as well. Hell, even Andariel's Visage will be worth trying if it drops, for High Tier mobbing especially so. I tried Harlequin Crest instead of Godslayer's Crown and the DPS was not that much worse for this build, so It was kind of worth it. Andariel's Visage was also pretty good synergy when i tried it even tho the cooldown on petrify went up by around 6-7 seconds

Gameplay Loop

The gameplay Loop is simple and easy to follow for this build.

  1. Approach a pack of mobs or a Boss
  2. Use Poison Creeper's Active Skill to Apply Poison + Immobilize as well as trigger Godslayer's Crown. It also increases our crit chance vs enemies affected by it.
  3. Use Petrify on the pack of mobs or the Boss for massive AoE Stun + Potential extra Godslayer Pull + to make the enemies take more crit dmg from us. As a UBER bonus you have a chance to also cast a free Cataclysm Ult each time you cast Petrify :)
  4. Spam the Claw Basic Attack and/or Evade through the pack of mobs or boss
  5. Use Earthen Bulwark as much as possible to keep your Barrier up, as well for its bonus of Unstoppable & Fortify.
  6. Reuse **Poison Creeper's A
  7. Keep doing steps 3, 4, and 5 till the fight is over then rinse/repeat from step 1 for the next fight

Key notes:

  • Each time you Evade you become Unstoppable and trigger the dmg buff of Tibault's Will as well as its Spirit generation.
  • And each time you Stun or Immobilize an Elite (or hit a boss), you'll trigger Godslayer's Crown to pull in any nearby & distant enemies.
  • Earthen Bulwark can also trigger Tibault's Will as it also make us Unstoppable.
  • X'Fal's Corroded Signet will trigger a lot thanks to its base lucky hit of 50% on top of the build getting extra Lucky hit from the unique ring & the gloves rolls (you may consider rolling lucky hit on the legendary ring too).
