Build Details

How It Works
Summary

Blood Lancer is an Overpower Necro with a focus on Blood Lance & attacking from a Distance. It squeezes the Paragons Dry for Overpower Dmg + multiplicative DMG bonus based on Consuming Corpses or picking up Blood Orbs as well as a lot of additive damage. The playstyle is all about using Blood Lance from afar, timing Corpse Tendrils & Corpse Explosion well, using Decrepify to debuff enemy damage & increase our dps to cursed enemies. S2 makes it even more synergistic to go Blood Lance for Overpower builds thanks to Banish Lord's Talisman & Blood Moon Breeches.

Season 2 is Ongoing & after extensive testing I bring you an Overpower Blood Lancer Necro with a Top Overpower Synergy for the archetype. The build's relatively easy to gear up & get things going but requires 3 non-codex aspects. 3 out of 5 Uniques are relatively easy to get from Uber Bosses too. As usual, I’ll evolve & keep my builds updated. This is one such build for the Necro Class called Blood Lancer

VAMPIRIC POWERS:

Metamorphosis = Evading making us unstoppable is great! Plus, using a Ghostwalker Aspect for movement speed while Unstoppable & 4 secs after is a must have on an already Slowbie Necro. Blood Boil = a MUST HAVE for any Overpower build Hemomancy = Helps clear Trash mobs while healing you Prey on the Weak = it's good bit of extra dps but also...read above^ Sanguine Brace = Reasonable source of Survivability for Blood Necros as it stacks nicely with other Fortify sources.

Good alternative Picks: Accursed Touch = 44% chance to curse enemies & when used with prey on the weak it means 44% to apply vulnerable (this i wanted to include instead of Sanguine Brace but having 3 Major Powers takes up 18 total out of 20 pacts and it's just better to use Metamorphosis for applying the Vampiric Curse if needed) Resilience = this one's also a solid alternative but i love having that extra Damage Reduction. For lower tier NMDs this won't be needed and neither will it be needed for Uber Bosses (except maybe for Uber Lilith but for her you need barriers and fast reflexes more than anything). Undying for the healing it provides.

In-Depth Explanation

Paragon Boards & Glyphs Order of lvlup

Tears of Blood Glyph is coming with the *Abattoir of Zir patch on the 5th of December**. Expect to make a massive rework of your Paragon Boards to be able to squeeze all the DPS that new Glyph can give you. You may need to remove 1 out of the 4 boards completely to have enough free Paragon Points. This may mean losing 2 of the current Glyphs but gaining eh following new one:

Tears of Blood (a new Glyph with a maximum level of 200) Radius Size Starts at 4 and grows to 5 at lvl 50, potentially grows to 6 somewhere between lvl 51 & 200 Bonus: For every 5 Core Stats purchased within range, you gain 2.0%[x] increased damage. Grants +50% bonus to all rare nodes within range. Bonus Increases by 10% every 10 levels.

As you could guess this will be a MASSIVE DPS BOOST and worth sacrificing any board and glyph for.

Now, until that patch here's some info regarding the boards and glyphs.

In what order to unlock the boards?

You want do it this way: Board 2 is Bloodbath, next Blood Begets Blood, then Flesh-eater.

I recommend this order because we get to the much needed +% Overpower nodes (from Boards 2 & 3) faster that way, as well as the Multiplicative 35%[x] Overpower Damage from Bloodbath

Why pick those boards?

I've selected the boards based on two criteria: how much of the bonuses my glyphs require are within range of the socket (Int, Wil, Dex) and also what yellow & blue node clusters I can take from those boards. Another Important criteria is IF there are any Legendary Paragon Nodes worth investing into (which for this build there are 2 +1, where the 1 will need to go away for next patch to save points).

Bloodbath has 49 DEX near the socket making it a good choice for our DEX Glyph (Essence). Overpower DMG, DMG while Fortified, DMG while Healthy, Maximum Life, & All Resistances are all good bonuses on that board worth investing into so the Board is a MAJOR source of dps for this build especially the Bloodbath Legendary Node.

Blood Begets Blood is also a perfect fit board for us. A total of 54 WIL can be taken around the Glyph Socket for the Dominate WIL Glyph. On top of that there is 3x22.5% Overpower blue nodes near the glyph socket as well as a blue & yellow Overpower nodes cluster that is a MUST HAVE. There are blue and yellow nodes for Blood Obs pickup synergies for DMG buffs and Healing that are okay to take on the way to the Overpower nodes too. The Blood Begets Blood Legendary Node is also worth taking until the Abattoire of Zir patch arrives.

And, since Flesh-eater is a perfect fit for any build using Black River, i chose the Sacrificial Glyph for it to boost the blue Dmg to Elites & All Resistance nodes, while gaining the x10% increased damage while 0 minions active. The board has other good things to pick on the way to the glyph socket & nearby it: a Crit Dmg & Dmg to Injured cluster on the way + also an *Attack Speed & Chance to Execute non-elites to spend the last few points left on (or alternatively Poison Resistance & Armor**).

Exhumation is a great fit for the Starting Board as it requires INT and that board has 70 INT near the socket.

In what order to Level Up the Glyphs?

First, focus on getting all of the Glyphs to lvl 15, 1-by-1 and in this order: 1. Dominate 2. Essence 3. Exhumation 4. Sacrificial

Then, get all of the Glyphs to lvl 21, 1-by-1 and in this order: 1. Dominate 2. Essence 3. Exhumation 4. Sacrificial

Note about Gear: Godslayer Crown is what I picked for the Helm Slot BUT if you get uber lucky with some Uber Duriel kills and get a Shako/Harlequin's Crest it's going to be an obvious good pick as well. Hell, even Andariel's Visage will be worth trying if it drops.

Gameplay Loop

Thew gameplay Loop is simple & easy to understand for this build.

We have Reap as a Basic Attack that can Generate 1 Corpse every 4 seconds if needed when 0 exist (also some Essence generation). But this skill will ideally never need to be used. Start the Rotation with Decrepify to make enemies do less damage and to trigger Blood Moon Breeches' x70% overpower Damage to Cursed enemies. Corpse Tendrils is ideally what you use 2nd in the rotation with. Pulls in Enemies, Stuns them and also 35% chance to spawn Blood Orbs. Then, Corpse Explosion so that you can activate the Flesh Eater x50% dmg + the Cadaverous x50% dmg buffs. Ideally 5 corpses will be consumed at once (the to Black River). Blood Lance is the major source of dps that we spam and it has amazing Overpower Synergies + the Gore Quills Aspect casts more Blood Lances out of nearby Blood Orbs. Blood Mist should be used for both escape/survivability mechanic as well as to generate a few corpses. Evade when possible every 4 seconds to keep procing the Unstoppable from Metamorphosis.

On boss fights you may wanna swap your pants. Why? Because each time you Evade you become Unstoppable and trigger the dmg buff of Tibault's Will + the item's Essence generation. So if you decide to use that instead of Blood Moon Breeches it only requires to swap the item before a boss fight (it will unequip Decrepify but you won't need it as much then anyways). And each time you Crowd Control an Elite, you'll trigger Godslayer's Crown to pull in any nearby enemies, which then can get rekt by our AoEs.
