Hydrakuna is a top-tier Hydra Sorcerer build for Season 9, dominating from leveling to endgame! With the Ophidian Iris amulet, this build merges your Hydras into three massive Hydras, enabling them to deal AoE damage.

This is the best all-around Hydra Sorcerer build of the season, assuming you have all the required Uniques and Mythic Uniques.

Variant Summary

Hydrakuna is the fastest and best build overall for this season. It's very good in any content. You have the Pit Pushing version if you want to push the Pit with this build.

  • Requirements for this build: Harlequin Crest, Shroud of False Death, and Ring of Starless Skies.
  • This version sacrifice a bit of damage to gain insane mobility. You replace Hail of Verglas with Harlequin Crest to gain toughness and cooldown reduction. We also use wand + focus instead of a Staff because the extra damage from Staff isn't worth the mobility that you lose. The damage on Hydra is more than enough and the damage difference isn't noticeable where the speed is.
  • If you're aiming for maximum damage, go with the "Pit Pushing" variant.

You can replace Lightning Spear with Flame Shield if your gear is strong enough to consistently maintain 10 stacks of Primordial Binding and 100% uptime on Unstable Currents. Reallocate points from Lightning Spear to Hoarfrost.

Masterworking (MW) enhances an item's stats. Each MW rank boosts all affixes by 5%, but Ranks 4, 8, and 12 give a 25% bonus to one random affix.

  • 1 MW: Rank 4 (blue), one affix gets a 25% bonus.
  • 2 MW: Rank 8 (yellow), two affixes get a 25% bonus.
  • 3 MW: Rank 12 (orange), three affixes get a 25% bonus.

Use the Masterworking menu at Blacksmiths with materials from The Pit. MW ranks can be reset if needed. In this very end game version you want to hit 3MW on everything to optimise as much as you can. Cooldown is very important to be able to use teleport enchant between each cast.

Gameplay Loop

Potion: Use Elixir of Resourcefulness for more damage or Attack Speed if you want to zoom through content faster.

Hydrakuna:

  1. Hold down Ball Lightning, it will auto-cast continuously.
  2. Activate Unstable Currents.
  3. Cast Ice Blades to increase your attack speed and Lightning Spear off cooldown to apply Vulnerable.
  4. Use Ice Armor to boost your survivability.
  5. Drop Hydra to kill elites packs and when needed, it’s your primary source of damage.

Speedfarm Pit:

  1. Hold down Ball Lightning, it will auto-cast continuously.
  2. Cast Ice Blades to increase your attack speed
  3. Use Ice Armor to boost your survivability.
  4. Use Evade Teleport for mobility, and cast Inferno to apply Vulnerable and group enemies together.
  5. Drop Hydra to kill elites packs, it’s your primary source of damage.
How It Works

  • Boots Implicit : Attacks Reduce Evade's Cooldown by 1,5 Seconds is mandatory on this build.
  • To achieve Perma TP, you'll need a high amount of cooldown reduction, along with the right boots, and evade cooldown reduction on both your boots. This setup allows you to teleport between each cast. With enough cooldown reduction, your Teleport enchantment cooldown will be around 1.7 seconds. So the sequence becomes: Teleport → cast a spell → cooldown resets → repeat.
  • Critical Strike Chance: 40% from Esu's Ferocity (key passive), 20% from Invoked Hydra, 10% dex and base, 15% searing heat & 15% from Conjurer if you use it. So it's very easy to reach 100% Critical Strike Chance!
  • Hail of Verglas is used for its unique effect: "You deal 2% increased damage for each time Ice Shards hits an enemy for 5 seconds, up to [100] stacks." Since there’s not much to do once your two Hydras are active, casting Ice Shards during downtime lets you stack this bonus, potentially doubling your damage!
  • 1H vs 2H : We use wand + focus instead of a Staff because the extra damage from Staff isn't worth the mobility that you lose. The damage on Hydra is more than enough and the damage difference isn't noticeable where the speed is. We use 2H in Pit Pushing setup because all we care about is damage.
  • Axial Conduit is used to gain more mana. This synergise with Aspect of Serpentine that greatly boost your damage.
