Blizzard Responds to Rising Frustration Over Mythic Drops

Since Patch 3.1.1 went live on Tuesday, July, 14, 2026, the Diablo 4 forums have been filled with players reporting that the Iconic Mythic drop rate is still extremely low, and even nonexistent. The patch notes stated that Blizzard had "increased the chance of naturally dropped Mythics being an Iconic Mythic.", the player-base has not felt this to be accurate. Community Manager Lyricana has now responded across multiple threads on the forums confirming that the team is currently investigating.

What Players are Reporting

There have been several threads on the Blizzard forums, and on Reddit with players stating that Iconic Mythics are still not dropping, even after the patch update. Players are pointing out that high-profile streamers have racked up plenty of Mythics, but zero Iconic Mythics. Some players have shared their own findings as well, one stating that they ran a collective of "299 Lair Keys across multiple Grigoire, Urivar and Varshan, 87 Greater Lair Keys between Andariel and the Butcher, 61 Superior Lair Keys on the Corrupted Reaper, and 5 on Belial". From their findings they had a total of 31 Mythics drop, but none of them were an Iconic Mythic.

Another player reported "300 runs in Torment 12 and no Iconic Mythics after Patch 3.1.1". This player also noted that the regular Mythic drop rate feels the same as before the patch, suggesting that the issue is only specifically affecting Iconic Mythics.

Players are urging for Blizzard to remove the "crafted" tag from Iconic Mythics at the Blacksmith, stating that they were nerfed in the latest Patch anyway.

Blizzard is Responding

Lyricana has replied to multiple threads on the Blizzard forums, stating that these issues "are being looked into, as well as other issues surrounding Mythics", or "investigating the drop rate, as well as Mythics more broadly". These statements do suggest that they are looking at Mythics beyond just Iconic Mythics. This could suggest that the team is looking into more feedback received about Mythics since the launch of Season 14, such as the crafted tag being removed on Mythics and how the "Upgrade to Mythic" targets items.

What Happens Next?

As of right now, there is no timeline for a new patch, as nothing has been announced yet. We do know that the team is aware, and is currently investigating the issues surrounding Mythics and Iconic Mythics. With the reports of zero drop rate on Iconic Mythics from the player base, it may be best to hold onto your Lair Keys in the meantime until Blizzard finishes their investigation. Stay tuned as we will update as soon as there is more news!
