Build Summary

The Ice Spike Blizzard Sorc has been a powerful build throughout the seasons, but it gains the most in Season 3 from powerful pet abilities and high scaling in this "Never Lucky" version that forgoes Lucky Hit stacking in favor of direct scaling

Build Notes

Gameplay Loop
  1. Cast and stand in your Blizzards
  2. Use any cooldowns, but especially Ice Blades to trigger the Ice Blades enchantment effect, and barriers from cooldown use. As of Season 3, Barrier Generation stat applies to barriers from cooldowns, which results in massive survivability benefits
How It Works

Nearly all damage comes from the Glacial Aspect dropping Ice Shards during Blizzards. This means that a high item level aspect is required in order to play this build, and you cannot really level with it. It is best to use a powerful leveling build like Firewall until you can obtain the required aspects. It also is why the damage on the weapon and offhand is not that important, why there is only one point in Blizzard, and why we are not interested in bonuses to skills.

The Season 3 pet will help cover important issues Sorcs typically face, such as vulnerable and burning uptime, resource generation, as well as aiding in single target damage. You will want to pick a ranged skill that has high coverage such as Lightning Bolt + Arcing to apply Burning and Breaking, and a fast skill like Slash to keep up Safeguard, Efficiency, and Resource.

The Blue Rose ring is not required for the build. In fact, it is best (but not so easy) if you can satisfy your mana hungry needs without it and use the new Aspect of Shredding Blades which will improve your Ice Blades and grant 25% more damage overall.
