This build revolves around casting as many Trap Skills as possible on top of enemies frozen by Frostbitten. We utilize Exposure to reset the cooldown of Poison Trap Death Trap and Scoundrel's Leather to cast those for free.

How it Plays
- Dash on top of an Elite to engage.
- Lay down your Death Trap in the middle of the enemies.
- Lay down your Poison Trap.
- Spam Twisting Blades.
- Cast Poison Trap on cooldown.
- Evade makes you Unstoppable due to Metamorphosis.
- Keep up Tibault's Will by becoming Unstoppable.
- Save Shadow Step to remove CC if Metamorphosis Unstoppable is not active.
How it Works
This build starts with Penitent Greaves, which chills targets and enables Frostbitten to freeze them when the Key Passive: Exposure procs and drops Stun Grenades. Stunning our enemies then enables Retribution Aspect and Glyph of Control, further increasing our damage.
Poison Trap and Death Trap are great tools to group up and crowd control enemies. This build constantly has its Trap Skills ready to use because each Exposure proc lowers their cooldown by 20%. The Season 2 addition of Scoundrel's Leather synergizes perfectly with this as it makes our Twisting Blade cast Trap Skills for free during Inner Sight.
With the Season 2 change to No Witness it now represents a [x]100%+ damage buff which we scale by stacking Ultimate Skill Damage, an affix which buffs our Death Trap's damage.
Although the temptation to spam your Trap Skills mindlessly is high, you should consider saving your Death Trap depending on the situation to ensure its off cooldown when you engage the next Elite pack.
[x] means multiplicative damage
Build Requirements and Replacements
Uniques
- Penitent Greaves: although this item is not mandatory it heavily buffs the build by enabling the Frostbitten synergy. If you do not have this item swap Frostbitten with Shared Misery.
- Tibaul's Will: this item can be replaced with Tassets of the Dawning Sky, Eyes in the Dark or Cheat's Aspect.
- Scoundrel's Leather: this item is not mandatory but heavily buffs the build. You can replace it with **Shared Misery or Explosive Verve.
Aspects
No Aspect is mandatory but, like Penitent Greaves, Frostbitten is very close to it.
Paragon Board Stat Requirements
- Str: 530
- Int: 450
- Dex: 865
Skill Choices and Explanations
Basic Skills
We do not take a Basic Skill in this build because we use Inner Sight.
Core Skills
We use Twisting Blades in this build for various reasons: not only is it overall the strongest Core Skill in terms of AoE damage, single target damage and crowd control, but also because it's the best skill to proc Exposure.
Flurry is an alternative Core Skill you could use but the power level of the build would suffer quite significantly.
Agility Skills
In this build, and most other Rogue builds, we use Dash and Shadow Step.
Dash is overall a very strong mobility ability that lets you dash across the length of your screen. We further increase Dash's strength with the inclusion of Quickening Fog, which drops a Smoke Grenade at the end of our Dash and lowers its cooldown when we daze enemies with a Smoke Grenade.
Shadow Step is a mobility skill that is also the best source of Unstoppable for Rogues. Due to its low cooldown with the Disciplined Shadow Step modifier it's perfect to maintain Tibault's Will's [x]20-40% damage buff and to gain 50 Energy on use. The 50 Energy can come in handy when we do not have Inner Sight active.
Subterfuge Skills
We use Smoke Grenade indirectly via Quickening Fog in this build and Poison Trap.
Smoke Grenade is a very strong skill that allows us to daze enemies on-demand and get a [x]25% damage buff against any enemy dazed by it. All talent points taken that buff Smoke Grenade work with Quickening Fog.
Poison Trap is part of the Trap Skill package that makes this build good. It knocksdown enemies and has a chance to reset Cold Imbuement.
Imbuement Skills
In this build we use Cold Imbuement.
Because we freeze targets so often with Frostbitten, Cold Imbuement represents a [x]40% multiplicative damage buff.
Ultimate Skills
We use Death Trap in this build.
As detailed earlier, casting Death Trap is what this entire build revolves around.
Key Passive
We use Exposure in this build to reset the cooldown of our Trap Skills and drop Grenades to freeze chilled targets with Frostbitten.
Specialization
We use Inner Sight in this build.
Although Inner Sight is arguably the worst of the three Speciaizations in the endgame, it enables Scoundrel's Leather, which is perfect for this build.
Armor and Resistances
Armor
As of Season 2 it's much easier to reach the Armor cap so we no longer have to stack + Armor% on every slot.
You need roughly 5500 Armor to cap with a maxed Disobedience on your amulet and 6600 when the aspect is on an armor slot.
Resistances
As of Season 2 the Resistance cap is 70% and up to 85% with +15% Maximum Resistance. This is now a very strong stat for damage mitigation.
In my opinion, the most important overall resistances are:
- Poison because it's very prevalent and unavoidable.
- Lightning because the game's toughest monster, Wraiths, do lightning damage.
For general play one should look to get as close to the cap for those without completely neglecting the other resistances. Use All Res Elixirs and Incense for general play when needed.
For Bosses that do specific damage, if you're lacking in survivability, consider swapping in gems on your jewelry that have the correct resistance and drinking the corresponding elixir that increases your resistance and more importantly, maximum resistance.
Multiplicative Scaling Damage
No Witness
When we use an Ultimate Skill we get [x]60% of our Ultimate Skill Damage as multiplicative damage for 8 seconds. In this build we use Death Trap.
Since we can get almost up to 200% Ultimate Skill Damage, this means we double our damage whenever No Witness is active.
We mantain this buff by constantly casting Death Trap.
Vampiric Powers
Vampiric Powers are the Season 2 mechanic.
- Metamorphosis grants us Unstoppable when we evade and applies Vampiric Curse to monsters along our path. This synergizes incredibly well with Tibualt's Will which increases damage by [x]40%. On top of this, our build already wants to Evade as often as possible for Flickerstep.
- Flowing Veins is a straightforward [x]60% buff to our damage on cursed enemies.
- Anticipation further reduces the cooldown of Death Trap and increases its damage.
- Ravenous because all Rogue builds regularly are at the Movement Speed cap or very close to it this power is essentially 40% Attack Speed.
- Prey on the Weak rounds out the build by giving it Vulnerable, which gives us [x]20% damage, on top of another [x]16%.
Bossing
This build, like all non-poison builds, can struggle with killing Bosses efficiently. A thing you can do to alleviate this, if survivability is not a problem, is to do an amulet swap before engaging.
Amulet Swap:
- Inner Calm
- Frigid Finesse
- Ultimate Skill Damage
- % Dexterity
- Energy Cost Reduction
