Mercenary

How it Plays

  • You will use Dash for Mobility.
  • You will use Caltrops and Smoke Grenade for more damage against Bosses and Elites.
  • - If you overlap a new Caltrops over an old one before it expires, it will inherit the maximum 45% Damage Multiplier.
  • Cast Shadow Clone whenever possible.
  • It is a large amount of your damage and a source of Unstoppable.
  • Cast Dark Shroud for Survivability.
  • Spam Flurry.

How it Works

Flurry is a very straightforward build. We will spam Flurry and Shadow Clone will replicate that damage.

Season 10 has brought amazing buffs to Flurry:

  • Deathmask of Nirmitruq being a Chaotic Unique allows the usage of Heir of Perdition.
  • Grasp of Shadows also being a Chaotic Unique means we can now use Legendary Gloves with Core Skill Ranks.
  • Enervated Strikes is a huge multiplier for Core Skills.

Leveling

You can find the Dance of Knives leveling guide HERE.

Mercenaries

We will use Subo with Wire Tap for more Movement Speed and Cover Fire for more Critical Strike Damage.

Raheir is also an option if we lack tankiness, as he can provide Armor and Fortify.

For our reinforcement Mercenary, we will use Varyana with Ancient Harpoon to pull in.

Chaos Perks

For our Chaos Perks, we use A Beast Cornered, in combination with Marred Guard for a lot of damage and survivability.

We also use Enervating Strikes for [x]150% more damage.

Lastly, we use Accelerating Chaos to help reset our Shadow Clone Cooldown. For Pit Pushing we use Power Siphon.

Runes

Initially, we use Cir + Qax for damage and Poc + Thul for damage and Freeze.

Later on, we replace Cir with Ahu and move it to Poc's slot.

Elixirs and Incenses

It's important to run Elixirs and Incenses at all times. Not only because they increase your Experience gain but also because they provide very strong combat boosts.

For Elixirs we will use Elixir of Advantage for Lucky Hit Chance and Attack Speed.

For Incenses we will use Spiral Morning for Dexterity, Song of the Mountain for Armor and Soothing Spices for All Resistances and more Armor.

Attack Speed Breakpoints

Because the game's server operates in frames (images), Skills can only be cast in a whole number of frames. This means, for example, that you can't cast a Skill in 10.2 frames. To extend this example further, that means that all Attack Speed values that lead to a cast time of 10.01 to 10.99 frames would mean you end up casting at 11 frames, effectively wasting all Attack Speed gains from 11 frames to 10.01.

In order to avoid wasting Attack Speed, you can calculate the Attack Speed Breakpoints for your skills using THIS SHEET.

You might be wondering how frames translate into actual Cast Speed. Because the server runs at 60 frames per second the way we translate frames into Cast Speed is with the formula: 60 / Frames = Casts per Second.

Masterworking and Greater Affixes Explained

Both Masterworking and Tempering have been completely reworked in Season 11, which are set to give players more control over their gearing progression.

If you want to learn more about Masterworking and Tempering, check out our Masterworking and Tempering Guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are we Focusing so much on the Shadow Clone?

Because Shadow Clone scales off our damage on top of so many other multipliers it ends up doing 3x+ our actual damage.
