Sever is has finally tapped into the overpower mechanic to bring its damage to new heights thanks to the recently reworked Xan Runeword while paired with the recently added Ahu Runeword to generate infinite offering for non stop overpowers. If you've always wanted to play as a shadow assassin, this build is it. Its fast, tanky, and deals an incredible amount of damage while jumping in and out of stealth to decimate unsuspecting enemies.

How it Plays
- Cast Soulrift for the Barrier, Vulnerable and Essence
- Cast Decrepify to apply the curse and to activate Aspect of the Damned
- Cast Sever or Blood Mist until you get a corpse from Hewed Flesh
- Cast Corpse Tendrils to group up the mobs and activate Grasping Veins
- Cast Corpse Explosion on the corpse to activate your buffs such as Fueled By Death
- Cast Sever until the enemies are defeated
How it Works
Sever is a very simple build to play but there are a few things you need to be mindful about.
Make sure you're casting Corpse Explosion between casts to maintain uptime on Fueled By Death and Flesh Eater as well as maintain essence.
While this build does scale incredibly with Mythic Uniques, they are not required, so use the substitutes listed in the gear section until you can get them.
Elixirs and Incenses
With the abundance of herbs now in the game it is now very easy to grab some consumables to either shore up big weakness with your character or to massively increase your strengths. I highly recommend you regularly keep Elixirs and Incenses running. Below I laid out the best consumables to use for every situation.
Elixirs
If you need more of any specific resistance or armor, use those elixirs first. Once your armor capped and resistance capped, look to use the Elixir of Advantage for 15% Attack Speed and Lucky Hit Chance. If you're having trouble staying alive and your armor capped and resistance capped, you can use the Elixir of Fortitude to gain a 20% hp multiplier.
Incenses
For incense you have a couple of options, depending on what your character needs.
Core Stat
- Sage's Whisper: Generally the best option as it gives the most amount of damage.
- Spiral Morning: Not a bad alternative, as the all stat gives some armor and also helps hit breakpoints in paragon tree. Only use if there's specific paragon nodes you're trying to reach.
Resistance
- Soothing Spices: Best all around option as it gives +10% all resistances and +2% max resistance to everything. Only use another option if needed to hit resistance caps.
Defensive
- Song of the Mountain: Great early game option for the +300 Armor
- Reddamine Buzz: Gives +750hp, best option if you are already armor capped.
Flesh Eater - Advanced Tip
With high enough Attack Speed, Corpse Explosion can be used in-between casts of sever to stack and maintain Flesh Eater without losing any Sever casts, so try to time your Corpse Explosion casts in that window to maximize DPS.
