This build is amazing on controller and uses the Waxing Gibbous! I've personally cleared Pit 134+ on SSF with 1 out of 7 Mythics and no Transfigures and the build has cleared 139+ already.

In this build you will dash around like crazy killing enemies as you go. Shred is an extremely satisfying ability to use! If a machine gun could be a skill, this would be the one. With this build you'll turn Shred into a Storm skill!

  • Check additional tabs for Mid-Game and End-Game variations of the build.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • EXTREMELY FAST
  • TRILLIONS OF DAMAGE
  • Fun & satisfying gameplay
  • Easy resource management
  • Great sustain
  • Easy to play
  • Pit 139+
  • Torment 15
  • If you think you can't run this build you probably can. Lack of items will only hold you back from specific versions of the build. The only "requirement" is the 2 piece Berú of the Storm Shepherd set. But if you insist on running it early try using Vulpine's Aspect to manage resources. Or just use my Chaos Storm leveling build in my profile above.

Build Variants

This is the recommended BiS setup that would be the best for pushing high end content such as Pits or Tower while also being great in general gameplay. I put the build at 90% pushing optimization while leaving 10% for quality of life for non-pushers to make the build smoother. I have detailed notes below for additional changes for the last 10%.

Equipment

1
HelmGathlen's Birthright
8
Chest armorAspect of Debilitating Toxins
5
GlovesDark Howl
6
PantsTibault's Will
9
BootsGreat Storm Aspect
4
AmuletMalefic Crescent
10
Ring 1Archdruid's Aspect
7
Ring 2Dirge of Airidah
2
WeaponWaxing Gibbous
3
OffhandIfeh's Dire Totem
Equipment Priority
+10

Important Notes

  • Resource Generation is recommended for the Jewelry Tempers to enhance the damage from the Berú of the Storm Shepherd 2 piece set but if you need Grizzly Rage Cooldown, especially if you're missing the Cooldown Reduction on Gathlen's Birthright, then you need to compensate by using Cooldown Tempers on rings until your Grizzly Rage is sustainable consistently.
  • Ifeh's Dire Totem is required for this variation of the build to function! (Check the Early-Game tab for the alternative setup.)
  • Don't overlook the survivability of getting better gems in your jewelry.
  • Dirge of Airidah and Thundergod's Blessing are not required. A legendary ring with a 60-65% damage Aspect listed below and good affixes can easily be better overall than these with bad affixes, particularly non-Mythic versions but potentially even Mythic if the affixes are bad enough.
  • Do not use Tibault's Will if your survivability is low. You can always use another defensive Aspect such as Vigorous Aspect or Juggernaut's Aspect.

Farming Locations

  • Malefic Crescent - Beast in the Ice
  • Dark Howl - Urivar
  • Waxing Gibbous - Lord Zir
  • Tibault's Will - General Pool
  • Ifeh's Dire Totem - Harbinger of Hatred
  • Dirge of Airidah - Astaroth
  • Thundergod's Blessing General Pool
  • Azurewrath General Pool (Convert to Charm in the Horadric Cube)

For General Pool unique items, the best results I've had is from upgrading a white Ancestral of the correct base type to Unique in the Horadric Cube.

Alternate Items

Aspects

  • Crushing Aspect
  • Conceited Aspect
  • Neurotoxic Aspect
  • Archdruid's Aspect
  • Duelist's Aspect
  • Vanquishing Aspect (Not ideal, only works with Thul)
  • Envenomed Aspect (Not ideal)
  • Aspect of the Changeling's Debt (Not ideal)
  • Aspect of the Followed Path (Not ideal)
  • Galvanic Aspect (Not ideal)
  • Aspect of the Orange Herald (Cooldown)
  • Vulpine's Aspect (Not ideal, more Spirit = more damage)

Uniques

  • Flickerstep (Good for early Grizzly Rage cooldown)
  • Godslayer Crown
  • Endurant Faith (Huge for survivability)
  • Wyrdskin
  • Fists of Fate
  • Soulbrand

Mythics

  • Ring of Starless Skies
  • Heir of Perdition
  • Harlequin Crest

Stat Priorities

  1. Critical Strike Chance (Until 100%)
  2. Critical Strike Damage Multiplier (Main GA and Masterwork focus)
  3. Attack Speed (Until 100%)
  4. Vulnerable Damage Multiplier (Masterwork upgrade at least one with GA)
  5. Lightning/All Damage Multiplier (Masterwork upgrade at least one with GA)
  6. Skill Ranks
  7. Willpower (Always prioritize on armor)
  8. Weapon Damage

Defensive

  1. Maximum Life (You want this on every piece of gear ideally)
  2. Resistance
  3. Armor (Be sure to have at least one roll minimum)

Utility

  1. Movement Speed (Up to 200%)
  2. Cooldown Reduction (Just enough to maintain Grizzly Rage 100% of the time)

Talisman

Talisman Priority
+7

Important Notes

  • Ranks to Nature Magic skills are ideal but you can also use Storm, Shapeshifting, and Werewolf.
  • Rustbitten Dirk and Fists of Fate are solid alternatives or you can run Dirge of Airidah and use an alternative aspect as suggested above.

Skills & Rotation

Primary
15
1
Secondary
7
15
1
1
Spirit Boons
Deer
Eagle
Wolf
Snake

Important Notes

  • Iron Feather can be used instead of Scythe Talons for more survivability.
  • Wariness can be swapped for Prickleskin for more damage or Gift of the Stag if you don't have a Maximum Resource roll anywhere on your gear (Chest armor is the ideal location).

Skill Rotations

  1. Activate Lightning Storm and Hurricane to deal damage, proc Calm Before the Storm, Weaken enemies, and increase Movement Speed.
  2. Use and maintain Grizzly Rage off cooldown for damage, Spirit Cost Reduction, and healing.
  3. Spam Shred to dash to enemies and kill everything.
  • Cyclone Armor is used automatically through Berú of the Storm Shepherd for survivability and pulling enemies in.
  • Earthen Bulwark is used automatically with Que Rune for Barrier, Fortify, Healing, Resolve Stacks, and Overpower.
  • Blood Howl is used automatically with Malefic Crescent for Spirit generation.
  • Wolves are entirely passive for an Attack Speed buff.

Skill Point Priority

  1. Shred to max.
  2. Lightning Storm to max.
  3. Debilitating Roar to 100% duration uptime vs cooldown.
  4. Earthen Bulwark to 100% Barrier.
  5. Cyclone Armor to max.
  6. Grizzly Rage if you're struggling with uptime, but these are not worthwhile.

Skill Tree

Available1 (0)
Spent69 (13)

Important Notes

  • Skill point distribution will depend on your needs. Earthen Bulwark should be 100% Barrier, Debilitating Roar should be 100% uptime, and the rest can be dumped into Cyclone Armor for more survivability or Lightning Storm for more damage.

Paragon Board

Important Notes

  • Prioritize getting all Legendary Nodes before all else. Example: Constricting Tendrils
  • Prioritize all Glyphs to level 25 before going higher unless you cannot equip the next Glyph yet.
  • Prioritize all Glyphs to level 50 before going higher on any.

Glyph Leveling Order

  1. Spirit
  2. Fulminate
  3. Earth and Sky
  4. Fang and Claw
  5. Keeper

Mercenaries

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How am I applying Vulnerable?

A: You can apply a Utility Aspect to the amulet by using a Kullean Tuning Prism and Transfiguring your amulet in the Horadric Cube with it. It's random, but you want to get Overcharged Aspect on it eventually. You can use the Cataclysm versions of the build to apply Vulnerable or put the Aspect on another item such as pants or boots until you get it.

Q: Why am I squishy?

A: Survivability is all about stacking multiple layers of damage mitigation and sustain. You want Maximum Life on every piece of gear because it prevents one shots and your Barrier from Earthen Bulwark scales with Maximum Life. The build has great healing built in, so focus on reducing damage taken by stacking All Elemental Resistances and Armor. The Gems on jewelry are very high value to prevent the worst types of damage.

Q: Why is my Lightning Storm not showing on my bar during Grizzly Rage?

A: You need to choose the Werewolf shapeshifting form on the skill path in the Skill Tree.
