Build Details
Build Has Been Augmented to Fit New Systems in Ash & Iron
Today, we’re diving into a Prismatic Warlock build that’s about to become one of the strongest in Destiny 2 once the Ash and Iron update drops. This setup focuses on your “buddies” — like Arc Souls, Bleakwatcher turrets, Hellions, Ionic Sentries, and even Child of the Old Gods.
With the new update, all of these companions will deal bonus damage based on your grenade stat. That single change makes this build absolutely insane.
🌀 Why Grenade Stat Matters
Normally, grenade cooldown just affects how fast your grenade comes back. But in Ash and Iron, grenade stat also powers up your Warlock buddies.
At 200 grenade stat, your buddies get a 65% damage boost.
Even at 100 grenade stat, you’ll unlock a 190% bonus to grenade regeneration, which means you’ll constantly be cycling abilities.
This applies to:
Arc Souls (from Arc grenades or Getaway Artist)
Hellion turrets (spawned from your class ability in Prismatic/ Solar)
Bleakwatcher turrets (Stasis turrets)
Ionic Sentry & Arc Buddy (Arc buddy from Arc)
Child of the Old Gods (Void aspect buddy)
So basically, stack grenade stat as high as possible — your whole build revolves around it.
⚡ The Core Exotic – Getaway Artist
The main exotic we’ll use here is Getaway Artist, because it has the Dynamic Duo perk. This lets you consume your grenade to summon an Arc Buddy for 20 seconds.
Here’s why it’s so good:
You always keep at least one buddy active.
Consuming the grenade makes you Amplified, which boosts Arc Soul fire rate and grants 15% damage resistance.
While Amplified, artifact mods like Shield Crush kick in, giving you 25% bonus grenade damage and faster grenade recharge.
Combine this with Bleakwatcher turrets and a Hellion, and suddenly you’re running with three or more buddies at all times.
❄️ Aspects & Fragments
We’re running a Prismatic setup with these key aspects:
Bleakwatcher (Stasis): Turns your grenade into a turret that slows and freezes enemies.
Hellion (Solar): Creates a Solar buddy turret when you use your class ability.
Together with Getaway Artist, that’s three buddies right there.
For Fragments (Facets):
Facet of Courage: +10% damage for Arc Souls and Hellions when hitting slowed/frozen enemies (perfect with Bleakwatchers).
Facet of Balance: Bonus grenade energy when getting Darkness kills, and bonus melee energy from Light kills.
Facet of Awakening: Creates elemental pickups (Tangles, Firesprites, Ionic Traces, Stasis Shards) when killing groups of enemies.
Firesprites = grenade energy
Ionic Traces = energy for all abilities
Shards = melee energy
Facet of Hope: Faster class ability regen while you have elemental buffs active.
40% faster with one buff
60% faster with two
These fragments basically turn every kill into more energy, fueling your cycle of grenades, class abilities, and buddies.
🛡 Class Abilities & Rifts
We’re running Phoenix Dive for healing and synergy:
Heals you and nearby allies when used.
Works well with high class ability stat (which you need for Hellions anyway).
For Rifts:
Empowering Rift is now incredible after the update:
Gives grenade energy.
Buffs outgoing damage by 20% (also applies to buddies).
Healing Rift is still safer if you’re struggling to stay alive.
🔫 Weapons & Synergy
This build loves weapons that feed abilities or bring extra buddies.
Top Picks:
No Time to Explain (Exotic Pulse): Creates a time portal buddy after landing shots → gives you up to 4 buddies total. Perfect for Barrier Champions.
Finality’s Auger (Exotic Fusion): Creates a stationary Solar turret. It also works with Bait and Switch, so you can weave between weapons for huge damage.
Perks to look for:
Demolitionist: Restores grenade energy on kills.
Strategist: Boosts class ability uptime.
Heal Clip: If survivability is an issue, Solar weapons with this perk are fantastic.
Elemental Honing: Since this is a multi-element build, it gives you up to 35% weapon damage boost.
Armor Mods & Armor Sets
Mods to focus on:
Ashes to Assets (Helmet): Super energy from grenade kills.
Grenade Font Mods: Boost grenade stat by +20 to +50 if you’re not capped.
Recuperation (Boots): Heals you when you pick up orbs of power.
Armor Sets:
Techsec (with No Time to Explain):
Increases Weapon and Kinetic Buddy damage against shields
Creates Concussive blasts when shields break
Solstice Set (general use):
Restores 35 health on Solar kills (weapon or ability)
Works well with Finality’s Auger and Hellion buddies
Wrap-Up
With all of this together, you’ll have:
At least 3–4 buddies active at all times (Arc Soul, Hellion, Bleakwatcher, No Time to Explain or Finality's Auger buddy).
Grenade stat boosting all buddy damage and regen.
Constant debuffs from freezing, slowing, and unraveling enemies.
Strong survivability from Phoenix Dive, Healing Rift, Heal clip or Solstice Armor healing.
This makes the build not just strong, but reliable in every type of content, from casual play to high-end activities in Ash and Iron.
Step 1: Melee Enemies to Unravel or Shoot Enemies with Slice Step 2: Activate Turrets Step 3: Team fire enemies with turrets Step 4: Use abilities at will Step 5: Activate Turrets as often as possible Step 6: Cast Transcendency when things start getting tough (for bonus abilities and resistance) Step 7: Cast Song of Flame during Damage Phases but if you hit Crit Health and cant instantly heal... use super!
