How It Works

This week, Pocket Singularity finally got its full synergy with Lightning Surge, which means these two melee abilities now work together better than ever before.

So today, we’re going to break down why you should start using Pocket Singularity instead of Arcane Needles when running a Prismatic Lightning Surge build.

⚡ Why This Change Matters

Ever since Prismatic launched, Lightning Surge has worked best with Arcane Needles — mainly because Needles give you three melee charges and can trigger multiple Lightning Surges in a row.

However, when Pocket Singularity gained its second charge, it didn’t properly interact with Lightning Surge… until now.

With this recent fix, Pocket Singularity now keeps both charges when activating Lightning Surge, just like Arcane Needles — and it actually regenerates faster.

🕒 Cooldown Comparison

At 100 Strength, here’s how the cooldowns compare:

Pocket Singularity: 40 seconds per charge

Arcane Needle: 55 seconds per charge

That’s a 15-second difference, which might not sound like much — but in combat, it can feel like forever when you’re waiting for your Lightning Surge to come back.

To recharge:

2 Pocket Singularities = 1 minute 24 seconds

2 Arcane Needles = 1 minute 35 seconds

All 3 Needles = 2 full minutes

So now that Pocket Singularity works correctly, it’s the better melee option to pair with Lightning Surge.

💫 Bonus Energy Effects

This comparison doesn’t even include extra energy sources, like Innervation (which boosts ability energy when picking up Orbs of Power) or Pugilist (which gives melee energy from weapon damage).

When those are active, the benefits are boosted by 190%, giving you even faster melee regeneration.

🧙‍♂️ Exotic Armor Synergies

For this setup, you’ll want exotics that boost or trigger from melee use.

A great combo is:

Spirit of Claw – gives you three Pocket Singularity charges

Spirit of Necrotic (Necrotic Grip) – spreads poison damage to enemies hit, dealing damage over time

This combo melts tough enemies and large enemy groups.

Other solid choices:

Spirit of Inmost Light – speeds up all ability cooldowns

Spirit of Synthoceps – boosts melee damage when surrounded

🧩 Stat & Mod Recommendations

If you’re focusing on Lightning Surge, push your Strength stat as close to 200 as possible.

Reaching 200 gives you a 30% increase in melee damage.

If you’re struggling to hit that, use Melee Font Mods — three of them add +50 Strength. Just keep generating and picking up Orbs of Power to maintain that bonus.

🔮 Recommended Fragments

To make the most out of this Prismatic Lightning Surge setup, use these Fragments:

Facet of Balance & Facet of Awakening → Give extra ability energy

Facet of Dawn → Makes your weapons Radiant (20% more damage) after using Lightning Surge

Facet of Courage → Boosts powered melee damage by 50% against enemies affected by Strand or Stasis

For easy synergy, use Coldsnap Grenades to freeze enemies, then follow up with Lightning Surge for huge damage.

And with Feed the Void, you’ll have Devour active, giving you grenade energy and healing on kills — letting you keep grenades flowing nonstop.

🧊 Weapon & Artifact Synergy

Use Strand or Stasis weapons with perks like:

Slice, Tear, Headstone, Chill Clip, Cold Steel, or Crystalline Corpsebloom.

With the Shield Crush artifact mod active, your melee abilities deal 50% more damage when you have Void Overshields, Woven Mail, or Frost Armor.

This mod also helps your melee recharge faster — and by using Facet of Purpose, you’ll get those buffs automatically when collecting Orbs of Power.

Pair this with Needlestorm or Nova Bomb as your Super, and you’ll gain both extra protection and bonus melee damage every time you grab an Orb.

🔫 Weapon Recommendation: Monte Carlo

The Monte Carlo Auto Rifle is one of the best weapons to pair with Lightning Surge.

It gives melee energy back with every hit — far stronger than the Pugilist perk on Legendary weapons.

Plus, since it’s a Kinetic weapon, it charges both sides of your Transcendence bar, helping you activate your Prismatic buff more often.

If you’re running Techsec armor, this combo becomes even deadlier:

200% more damage against enemy shields

Explosive damage when breaking shields (with a 4-piece set bonus)

⚡ Final Thoughts

With all these buffs, synergies, and armor options, now’s the perfect time to run Lightning Surge on your Prismatic Warlock.

And now that Pocket Singularity regenerates faster and works properly with Lightning Surge, it’s absolutely the melee you should be using going forward.
