Build Details
At one point, the Prismatic Getaway Artist build was considered the most dominant Warlock setup in Destiny. But how does it stack up in the current season of Revenant?
Today, we're taking an updated look at this unique exotic to see how it holds up in endgame PvE content.
The Getaway Artist comes with the Dynamic Duo intrinsic trait, which allows you to consume your Arc grenade, transforming it into an Arc Buddy. This little companion will follow you around, blasting Arc projectiles at nearby enemies.
When you consume your grenade, you’ll also become Amplified, boosting your mobility and weapon handling. Arc Souls will generate bonus grenade energy, giving you a 5% energy boost per burst, though this won't apply when Devour is active.
While the change has reduced the bonus grenade energy from before, the Getaway Artist still delivers impressive damage output while maintaining high uptime. Thanks to our Prismatic subclass setup and a variety of new artifact mods, this build remains strong, especially for endgame content.
Even though Devour reduces energy generation, we're using Feed the Void, which provides bonus health regeneration and grenade energy. With Devour active, we can regenerate a full health bar and gain up to 20% bonus grenade energy. As long as there are enemies around, you’ll be able to keep generating tons of grenade energy.
Alongside Feed the Void, we’re using the Bleakwatcher Aspect, which creates a Stasis turret when we consume our grenade. This turret will be a perfect complement to our Arc Souls, continuously applying Cold to enemies, freezing and shattering them for excellent crowd control and damage.
For Prismatic Fragments, we’ve chosen Facet of Dawn, which triggers Radiance when we use Incendiary Snap on enemies. Radiance increases our weapon damage by 25% and lets us pierce Barrier Champion shields.
Since our Stasis turrets will keep enemies slowed or frozen, we're also using Facet of Courage, which grants our Light-based abilities a 10% bonus against those enemies. Facet of Awakening generates elemental pickups, including Firesprites, Ionic Traces, and Stasis Shards, which provide additional grenade, class ability, and melee energy.
To boost our survivability, we’re using Facet of Protection, which increases damage resistance by 15% when surrounded by enemies. When we cast Transcendence (which we’ll be doing a lot), this bonus jumps to 32%. While in Transcendence, we won’t be able to create Stasis turrets or Arc Souls, but we’ll have an abundance of combo grenades and powered melees to spam.
Facet of Purpose will grant us either Restoration or a Void Overshield when we collect an Orb, based on our choice of super. We'll mainly use Song of Flame for long-term survivability, as it provides a massive bonus to damage resistance when active, or Nova Bomb for maximizing damage output.
If You Find Facet of Purpose to Be Unneeded, Then Use Facet of Dominance To Give Arc Grenades Jolting or Facet of Balance for Extra Ability Energy
Now that we've covered our class tree, let's talk about our artifact mods, which have a significant impact on performance.
First up is Concussive Loader, which grants any breach-load grenade launcher the ability to apply a 15% weakening debuff against high-value targets. We’re also running Thick of It and Curative Orbs to increase the uptime of our abilities by generating more Orbs of Power and Armor Charges.
Armor Charges come in handy when using the Retinal Burn artifact mod, which causes a blinding explosion on consecutive hits with a precision-based Arc weapon, but it consumes Armor Charges to trigger.
We’ve got Hail the Storm equipped to spread more slow and freeze effects across the battlefield, further enhancing Facet of Courage.
With Conductive Cosmic Crystal, we’ll deal 5% extra damage with any Arc or Void abilities against enemies that are slowed or frozen. While this is only a small bonus, it stacks well since we’ll have Stasis turrets and Arc Souls active.
Finally, the Arc Compounding mod increases Arc damage by 15% against blinded enemies. While we don’t have natural blinding methods, using specific exotic weapons can help us trigger this bonus.
Our primary exotic weapon choice is Ex Diris, which creates Lucent Moths that blind enemies on final blows and sustained damage. If we go with Ex Diris, we’ll want to equip a Special Finisher Armor Mod to maintain ammo. We also have other options like Tessellation, Queensbreaker, Grand Overture, and Centrifuse to reliably apply Blind.
For companion weapons, we’re looking for Stasis weapons with Chill Clip or Headstone, and Arc weapons with Voltshot, Chain Reaction, or Jolting Feedback. We’ll also want Demolitionist on some of our legendary weapons to help generate extra grenade energy.
Now, let’s talk armor. Our main focus is generating Orbs of Power to fuel Grenade Kickstart. By stacking Siphon and Reaper mods, we’ll generate Orbs, which we’ll use to maximize turret creation with Grenade Kickstart.
For character stats, we want to prioritize Resilience for the 30% damage reduction, followed by Discipline to reduce grenade cooldowns and Recovery to speed up Rift cooldowns and health regeneration.
With improvements to crowd control and damage potential from mods like Arc Compounding, Concussive Reload, and Conductive Cosmic Crystal, the Getaway Artist is more than capable of holding its own in some of Destiny’s most challenging activities.
Step 1: Consume Grenade for Arc + Stasis Buddies. Step 2: Use Melee to Trigger Radiance. Step 3: Use Weapons that Jolt, Freeze or Blind. Step 4: Use Abilities as Available. Step 5: If Multiple Stasis Turrets are Active then use Lightning Grenades. Step 6: Cast Transcendence when Ready. (Spam Abilities) Step 7: Cast Super after Transcendency (Focus on High Value Targets) Step 8: Use Abilities until Transcendency is Ready Again. Step 9: Finish Enemies for Special Ammo (Requires Armor Charges)
