How It Works

Video Coming Soon

Today we’re taking our first look at a new Strand Warlock build coming in the Renegades expansion— and this one has the potential to be one of the strongest and most annoying builds in the entire game.

Warlocks are getting a brand-new exotic helmet called Deimosuffusion, and it’s going to be powerful in both PvE (strikes, raids, patrols) and in the Crucible.

Here’s what it does:

If you are using a Strand Super, casting your Rift will Suspend enemies around you.

Suspended enemies take continuous damage over time.

When suspended enemies escape the suspension, they take even more damage.

Every enemy that you suspend gives you constant healing, and when suspended enemies die, you receive a big burst of healing.

This damage doesn’t count as Poison or Unravel, but it works almost the same and still melts enemies.

The best part: This healing and damage over time doesn’t only come from your Rift. If you create Suspensions in any other way—grenades, Threadlings, weapons—it still counts.

That means we can:

Keep enemies locked in the air over and over

Deal steady damage without even shooting

Constantly heal while everything dies

Best Build Setup

The strongest version uses:

Weavewalk (Aspect)

Mindspun Invocation (Aspect)

With these equipped, we can consume our Shackle Grenade, which activates Weaver’s Trance for 25 seconds.

While Weaver’s Trance is active:

Every kill creates a suspending explosion around the enemy.

Here’s the gameplay loop:

Before entering combat, activate Weaver’s Trance (consume your grenade).

Run into a group of enemies.

Cast your Rift → everything nearby becomes suspended.

Activate Weavewalk → gain 90% damage resistance and spawn Threadlings.

Leave Weavewalk → you gain Woven Mail (more damage resistance).

Threadlings kill enemies → Weaver’s Trance continues suspending enemies.

This creates a feedback loop of:

Infinite suspensions

Damage over time

Constant healing

Threadlings clearing rooms

Strand Fragments

We run 5 fragments:

Fragment What it does Thread of Continuity +50% longer Suspend duration. Also buffs Sever & Unravel. Thread of Evolution Threadlings deal +33% damage and travel farther. Thread of Generation Taking damage gives grenade energy (helps maintain Weaver’s Trance). Thread of Mind Defeating suspended enemies gives Rift energy (10%–30%). Thread of Fury Dealing damage to suspended targets gives melee energy.

Optional synergy: If you own the Collective Psyche armor set, the 4-piece bonus also increases the duration of Strand debuffs. Combined with Thread of Continuity, you get even longer suspensions.

Armor Stat Priority

Try to get 100 Discipline, Strength, and Recovery.

Faster grenade cooldown (for Weaver’s Trance)

Faster melee/class ability cooldowns

More Rift uptime = more suspensions

If you’re short on stats, use Font Mods (1 mod = +20, 2 mods = +40, 3 mods = +50 to that stat).

Weapons

Best exotics:

Monte Carlo → constant melee energy

Thorn or Osteo Striga → extra damage over time, pairs great with Suspend

Great Strand exotics:

Wish-Keeper

New Malipas (new)

Both create their own suspensions, which fully benefit from the exotic helmet’s damage + healing effects.

Strong legendary perks:

Strand-based weapons with Hatchling

Pugilist, Demolitionist, or Strandgeist for ability regeneration

Closing

We don’t know the new artifact perks yet, and we’ll be getting:

New armor sets

New Strand weapon traits

More ways to create suspensions

Once Renegades officially launches, I’ll revisit this build and update it with the final mods and perfect setup.

Video Guide
Gameplay Loop

Step 1: Consume Grenade for Weaver's Trance Step 2: Slide into Enemies and Activate Rift Step 3: Hop up and Activate Weave Walk Step 4: Back out of Enemy Range Step 5: Leave Weave Walk Step 6: Follow up with Weapons (Threadlings will now attack) Step 7: Rinse and repeat Step 8: Use Super when Ready (kind of sucky for DPS so don't hold on to it)
