Build Details
First things first, we have to talk about some of the major changes that came with Edge of Fate. First up, we have the changes to melee damage.
- Melee damage use to be multiplicative, meaning that the more damage buffs you have the stronger each one gets. Now they are additive. This is a pretty major nerf to Melee damage, however Bungie has Buffed a ton of different melee based damage bonuses to account for this.
- Overarching, this means that melee based builds that only use a few damage bonuses will be stronger than they use to be, and Melee based builds that used a ton of different bonuses will be weaker.
- Next up we have the changes to abilities. In Edge of Fate, Roaring flames is getting a massive buff to melee damage to account for the additive change. Roaring Flames is going from a 73% damage boost, to a 200% damage boost for melees.
- Now the even better thing is that previously, when paired with an Exotic like Wormgod Caress, Roaring Flames would be decreased down to a 33% cap. This cap has been removed so that Wormgod will receive the full 200% buff. Then we account for Wormgod Caress getting reworked to give a maximum of 400% melee damage.
- Add in the fact that with the Rework to armor stats, we can stack up to 200 in melee to gain a bonus of 30% damage more melee damage. Now interestingly this bonus is multiplicative since it boosts the base melee damage. Meaning that with Roaring Flames x3 giving 200% melee damage, Wormgod giving 400% melee damage, and 200 stat bonus giving 30% multiplicative melee damage, we can cap out at an 810% bonus damage to our melee just by running around and throwing our hammer.
The great thing about Bonk titan is how easy it is to play. I like to start by weakening an enemy then using my hammer to finish them off. Now you can start using that hammer at will since it will basically 1 shot most enemies as you build up to max stacks. On tougher enemies, since you have a cooldown between throwing your hammer, I like to cycle between throwing my hammer and using my normal melee, since your normal melee will count as a powered melee and deal a decent amount of damage.
Now it’s not 100% necessary to bring Red Death as your primary, but I really wanted to talk about why I love it so much. Kills with it will give you cure, or instant bursts of health, and when paired with restoration, this helps make you nearly unkillable. If you reload after a kill it will also cure nearby teammates, making it a good option for team content. But the most important part is the catalyst. Now, every 3rd kill with Red Death will create a healing burst and a restoration orb. The Restoration orb will give you access to Restoration x2, and since we can extend our restoration with solar kills, we can infinitely keep it up once it’s proced. This is the only way we have as Titan’s to gain restoration x2 so it’s really strong for endgame content. Plus, since we will be using our hammer a ton, we can keep up our Wormgod stacks, and while at 3 or more stacks, we gain even more weapon damage than radiant can provide.
