Guarding with your Arc Staff does not consume extra Super energy. [Super] : Cancel Arc Staff early, temporarily increasing Arc weapon damage and creating a blinding burst. Reflected attacks increase the damage of the burst, extend your Super, and deal additional damage.

Build Details
- Okay, so I wanted to make an Arc hunter build that focused on getting as much bolt charge as possible. When running through the options I had available for the exotic, I saw Blight Ranger. Now I haven’t used this exotic in a long time, heck I actually don’t know if I ever did use it. But I saw 2 advantages that it give you.
- First, When we deactivate our Arc Staff Super, We gain back some super energy, it triggers AOE damage around us, and more importantly we gain 21 seconds of x4 Arc Weapon surge. Which is technically more than you can get with armor mods and opens up your leg mods.
- Second, now while blocking with your arc staff super, It no longer costs energy, reflected projectiles give back super energy and deal a Whopping 400% more damage. This sounded fantastic, but ended up being irrelevant… See I though this would be BIGGG damage but it honestly still just tickles enemies…
- So I started to count this out as a build, until I realized, Since we can Pop our super and immediately deactivate it to gain the most weapon surge possible and we retain 75% of our super. Since we gain 21 seconds of weapon surge, we will still have our weapon surge active by the time we get our super back as long as we keep dealing damage.
- So the whole idea for the build is to use your super for AOE damage and Maximum weapon damage.
- any time you start an encounter, find the nearest group of enemies. Pop your super and immediate deactivate it near them. Then start going to town with your arc weapons! Continue to pop your super and deactivate it whenever you get low on weapon surge or you want to deal some burst AOE damage. If you want to deal some extra AOE damage you can also continuously spam your ascension. I also love to bring Disorientating blast for more bolt charge and so that we blind a ton of enemies near us.
- This is also huge for DPS phases since you can easily pop and deactivate your super whenever you want your Arc Weapon damage.
- Since we will constantly have our super available, this also means that if your teammates go down or are in a weird res spot, you can pop your super and just hold the block button to safely res them.
