Destiny 2 Titan BuildInsurmountable Perfected
PvERapidly fires 3 spreads of pure force.
After a successful melee hit, this weapon gains increased damage, reduced charge time, and improved reload speed for a short duration. Hitting a target with most of the pellets in a burst increases melee damage for a short duration.
Final blows with Arc melees trigger health regeneration and fully restore a melee charge. Melee hits grant Arc melee energy.
strengths
Extremely fun
A good Titan melee build that ISN'T Consecration
Fantastic survivability and sustain
Aggressive playstyle
All Champion stuns covered
weaknesses
Can get awkward if you miss a Thunderclap
Not the best Boss damage in high tier content (relies on Bastion / short range)
Build Details
This build is a lot of fun. Centres around the An Insurmountable Skullfort Titan Exotic helmet. Any time you get a kill with a powered melee (which can be procced by Thunderclap OR a normal melee when Knockout is active) you get a full refund of your melee charge and start regenerating health. A powered melee hit will restore 50% melee ability energy and your regular melee restores 5% melee energy without Knockout active and 15% with it active. It's a great Exotic that has always been very solid for Titans and works even better with the new reworks to stats and when used on Prismatic.
As I've already mentioned, the Knockout aspect is the other essential part of this build. Any melee kill, charged or normal, grants an instant heal(depending on the enemy rank) on kill and starts health regeneration. It also grants the Amplified buff for 15% damage resistance whilst making enemies less accurate when attacking you. Great for survivability especially for melee builds. Also, any time you break an enemy shield or damage an enemy with less than 30% health (this is literally all the time), you gain a huge 160% melee damage buff for any melee hits (including melee based Supers like Bladefury and your uncharged melee) for 6 seconds. Also extends your melee lunge distance which just makes it easier to lock in kills. Fantastic synergy and stupidly easy to activate.
Our second aspect can be swapped if you prefer, but I really advocate for choosing Diamond Lance for a Diamond Lance spawn on any ability, shatter or Stasis kill on a 7 second cooldown. This works extremely well on a close quarters brawler melee build like this one as it means you can clear a pack of ads with a Thunderclap and then spawn a Diamond Lance which can be slammed to freeze any stragglers in your vicinity or thrown to freeze the next pack of ads, allowing you to close the gap and hit them with another Thunderclap.
For other abilities, we take Thruster for some extra mobility and easy Powerful Attraction activations. For our grenade, we take Glacier Grenade for some synergies I'll go over later, intrinsic Overload stunning and an amazing easy source of Darkness Transcendence energy. For Super, we take Bladefury, mainly to get Woven Mail from Facet of Purpose but also as it benefits from the damage buff given by Knockout with its light attacks as they count as a boosted version of Frenzied Blade and is just a really solid super that can CC packs of enemies, stun Unstoppable Champions and deal good single target damage all whilst having 90% damage resistance.
Our Prismatic fragments really make this build shine. We get 5 fragment slots with our choice of aspects and two of these are instalocks for any good Prismatic build in Facet of Protection for 15% damage resistance when near 3 or more enemies and Facet of Purpose for an elemental buff based on your Super element on orb pickup. We're running Bladefury, which gives us Woven Mail for 40% damage resistance which is fantastic for the reasons I've already gone over and means that you are nearly unkillable as long as you have a steady source of orb generation, which luckily this build has in spades (more on this soon). For our other 3 fragments, I've gone with Facet of Dawn for Radiant on any powered melee hit for a 20% weapon damage buff which is up nearly constantly for more damage and Anti-Barrier rounds. Facet of Devotion for some more Light Transcendence energy when killing any Darkness debuffed enemies, however this was mainly chosen for the +10 melee stat bonus. To round it out (and the star of the show for juicing our gameplay loop) we take Facet of Courage for a damage boost when damaging Darkness debuffed enemies with any Light abilities. With constant Diamond Lances, Glacier Grenades and out Transcendence Grenade which suspends and jolts targets. Worth noting that the damage buff is 10% for grenades and Supers and 50% for melees, perfect for a Thunderclap build.
I recommend getting your melee stat as high as possible for a damage buff, lower cooldown should you somehow get caught without Thunderclap and more melee ability energy gains from most sources. For secondary stats, I like going for weapons as we will still be outputting great damage with the range of buffs we have active and we will obviously need to be able to deal damage at range at times.
For armor mods, take a Hands On on the helmet for more Super energy on melee kills, as well as a Solar Siphon for our main ad clear weapon (take the Solar / Strand siphon mod here if you have the room in your artifact and likewise want to take a Strand heavy). Speaking of which, running a Darkness damage heavy weapon is highly recommended to top off your Dark Transcendence energy. On the guantlets we take three Heavy Handed mods to spawn an orb on any powered melee kill with a 1 second cooldown between activations, meaning you can clear a group of ads with a Thunderclap and then use Thruster to move towards the next pack or into safety and scoop up all nearby orbs to get their buffs (Woven Mail, ability energy, health). We run rainbow resists on the chestpiece for a safety blanket of damage resistance. For the boots, take a Recuperation or Better Already for some healing on orb pickup, as well as one copy of Absolution for ability energy and either a second copy of Absolution or an Elemental Surge mod for +20 weapons stat for a 10% weapon damage buff for weapons of that element for a short time. This time is extended by running Time Dilation on the class item as well as the aforementioned Powerful Attraction and a copy of Bomber to help with our grenade regen.
Before mentioning artifact synergues and hoices, I'll go over weapon recommendations. In the Kinetic slot I cannot stress enough how good Bastion is. First, it gives us intrinsic Unstoppable stuns, which is great now that shatters do not stun Unstoppable Champions anymore. Second, it just does a lot of damage, which we need on a build that is focused around room clearing (our melee damage is still great for single targets, but this really helps for Champions and Bosses). Third, hits with the weapon stagger any enemies that survive a burst, interrupting their attacks and making it safer to stay up close and deal damage. Fourth, its rework gives it 45% increased damage, faster charge time and reload speed for a huge 8.5 seconds after landing any melee hit. Fifth, anytime we land most of its pellets in a burst (roughly 18 out of 21), we gain a staggering 300% melee damage buff on any melee hits for 3.5 seconds. Perfect synergies, Boss and Champ melter and helps with Champion stuns. The perfect choice here.
For our energy slot we take the curated Ahab Char you get from the seasonal reward pass that rolls with Proximity Power and Swashbuckler. The first perk is brand new and gives us an additional 15 melee stat (this is higher than 15 as it is enhanced but currently we don't know the exact value) for a short time when landing a kill when surrounded for a short time, stacking up to 3 times. With the stat rework meaning that every 10 stat points gives a roughly 3% damage buff, we can easily get a 9% melee damage buff (and faster cooldowns and enhanced ability energy gains) by slaying out with this weapon. We can easily slay out by utilising Swashbuckler, which gives stacking damage bonuses on kills up to 33.3% at 5 stacks for 6.5 seconds. However, this shines on a melee build as any melee kill immediately grants all 5 stacks, which we will be doing all the time. It is also Solar benefitting from a few great artifact perks I'll finally touch on soon. In the heavy slot we take the ever reliable Pro Memoria machine gun with Reconstruction / Bait and Switch for an easy damage buff and no need for manual reloading, as well as benefitting from the artifact and helping with Dark Transcendence energy.
The artifact just tops this build (and this stupidly long guide) off. Here's my recommendations.
Column One
Overload Rapid Fire - Champ stuns from Ahab Char
Column Two
Flame, Fiber and Freeze - more room for helmet mods
Tightly Woven - +20 class and grenade stats whenever Woven Mail is active (orb pickup) MUST PICK**
Column Three
Refresh Threads - ability energy when interacting with Tangles
Column Four
Cauterized Darkness - 30% increased Solar damage to any Darkness debuffed enemies (except bosses) MUST PICK
Elemental Coalescence - chance for **weapon element matching elemental pickup spawns on weapon kills
Column Five
Shieldcrush - faster melee ability recharge rate and 50% increased powered melee damage whenever wOVEN Mail or Frost Armor is active and faster grenade ability recharge rate and 25% increased grenade damage whenever Radiant or Amplified is active MUST PICK
Radiant Shrapnel - spawns tracking Solar explosives when dealing weapon damage whilst Radiant or killing a scorched target MUST PICK
That's it! So much synergy on this build, great damage, ad clear, survivability, sustain and ability regen. Really easy to put together even for beginners as most equipment is easily obtainable. Try it out!
- Thunderclap
- Heal, get Thunderclap back, get Amplified online and spawn a Diamond Lance
- Throw Diamond Lance to freeze next pack / target
- Thruster to pickup orbs and heal, restore some ability energy, boost weapon damage and grant Woven Mail
- Thunderclap next pack of targets
- Use Bastion to shred Champs, Bosses and any high health targets left alive
- Use Ahab Char and Pro Memoria for ranged damage (or if you don't have a melee charge)
