Build Details
This build focuses around the buffed Withering Blade attained from the Mask of Fealty Hunter Exotic helmet. With it equipped, your powered melees refund some energy on hits and bounces and release a spread of 3 additional Withering Blades if the target is frozen or a Stasis crystal. These suped up melees give immense crowd control and high damage, so the rest of the build and subclass choices revolve around juicing Withering Blade even more and keeping it online as much as possible.
Stasis hunter is kind of trash, so we're going with the extremely well-balanced and not a shoe-in meta subclass with Prismatic. In it, we are taking Silence and Squall for our Super, primarily for Frost Armor from Facet of Purpose as well as harmonic armor mods for our Stasis weapon (more on that soon). S&S is also just a solid super on a very short cooldown so its no cop out. We're taking Duskfield Grenade as it helps create more frozen targets that can be nuked by our charged melee. The other nades on Prismatic Hunter just suck too (apart from Grapple, mwah <3). Obviously Gambler's Dodge is the only correct choice as an easy way to get a free Withering Blade charge on demand (given there's an enemy nearby). Obviously Gambler's Dodge is the only correct choice as an easy way to get a free Withering Blade charge on demand (given there's an enemy nearby). The Ascension aspect has been fixed for a while now, so that using it will proc Gambler's Dodge to refund your melee and also proc the Threaded Specter aspect should you choose to run it.
For our second aspect, we take Gunpower Gamble. With this build being centred around ability spam, you will be getting a lot of Gunpowder Gambles easily, which will also benefit from Facet of Ruin. Winter's Shroud is a great choice but sadly does not activate when paired with Ascension so will not be used here. Threaded Specter, however, does proc on Ascension use, so feel free to swap out GPG for it if you feel like you need some more survivability. For the rest of our fragments, Facet of Purpose and Facet of Protection are shoe-ins for any Prismatic build - especially when rocking a Stasis super to get some good DR from Frost Armor. Facet of Dawn gives you Radiant upon a powered melee hit, Facet of Hope juices your Ascension cooldown and Facet of Blessing starts your health regen on melee kills.
For our weapons, we will be using the Ager's Scepter, which is extremely strong this season thanks to artifact mods such as Beam Medic and Harsh Refraction giving Cure on multikills and a 35% damage buff to slowed or frozen enemies. It offers great utility thanks to its large slowing burst on kill that is often enough to freeze nearby enemies, thus prepping Ager's to deal even more damage and readying your Withering Blade spread from Mask of Fealty. Since Silence and Squall can be quite situational, feel free to use your Super bar to overcharge your Ager's (if you have the catalyst) and give it a massive 80% damage buff and slow on hit. I like to take a Psychopomp with Rolling Storm to get easy Bolt Charge stacks and Light Transcendence energy. For the heavy, choose whatever Boss killer you like. I personally like the Scintillation linear fusion but you really can use whatever here.
Armor mods are pretty straightforward, Harmonic Siphon, Heavy Ammo Finder and a Hands-On on the helmet. The holy trinity of Bolstering Detonation, Focusing Strike and Impact Induction on gloves. Rainbow resists on chest. Recuperation, Stacks on Stacks and Stasis Scavenger on boots. Special Finisher, Proximity Ward and Reaper for the class item.
No real gameplay loop here, just throw out your Withering Blade, freeze stuff, shatter stuff, ignite stuff, repeat.
This build should only get stronger in the upcoming Edge of Fate expansion, with the revealed artifact for the season focusing around Stasis, Solar and Strand.
