Build Details
I know what you're thinking. What on Earth is this abomination? Manticore? St0mp-EE5? PVE? 2025? Yes. You heard me. Don't listen to the Inmost / Syntho sheep, free yourself from the shackles of Exotic class items and Lord of Wolves. Go towards the light. This is the 'Hear Me Out' Hunter.
The goal I had when making this thing was stacking the most over the top levels of DR I could possibly get. Saying that, I've failed already as I haven't got a way of getting Frost Armor. If you want to tick all the boxes and tell the world you've become one with Destiny 2 DR, swap The Call out for any Rimestealer / Headstone Stasis weapon like Fair Judgment and get really jiggy with it.
If you manage to stack all of our possible forms of DR: Woven Mail, Amplified, Transcendence, Facet of Protection, St0mp-EE5, Void Overshield and being hit by damage counted as Arc, Solar or Void, which sounds crazy but is actually pretty easily attainable, you will have a ridiculous total damage resistance of 96.7500505%. That is nuts.
"YoU keeP goIng oN aboUT DR hOw DO yoU EVen geT iT???111!!"
Allow me.
St0mp-EE5 got reworked so that any time your feet are off the ground, you gain 30% damage resistance to all sources. No cooldown, no requirements to activate apart from being in the air, which even without the rest of this build, is something most players don't realise they are constantly doing without thinking. Think of most raid encounters, seasonal activities, strikes, literally any PvE activity, you're running and jumping around every where constantly. This DR buff is insane and runs in the background whilst we stack even more on top of it. They also give passive bonuses to sprint speed (6.25%), slide distance (33%) and jump height (unknown but definitely noticeable) - really nice free mobility buffs that passively boost your survivability, clear times and overall just enhance quality of life for gameplay.
We're running the Ascension and Threaded Specter aspects for the best survivability possible on Prismatic Hunter. Ascension gets us Amplified instantly, granting 15% DR and making enemies less accurate shooting at us. It also gets us in the air, which is good for the reasons I've mentioned earlier (more to come on this). At the same time, a Threaded Specter decoy will be deployed, grabbing all enemy aggro towards it, detonating for decent damage and releasing Threadlings when it is destroyed. Thanks to Gambler's Dodge, using this near enemies will instantly refund our Threaded Spike melee which can be thrown out for some great ad clear and for applying Sever to all hit enemies for a 40% damage reduction - this can be buffed to 52% if you pick up the Disruptor Spike artifact perk. Whilst we're here I'll go over fragment synergies.
Facet of Protection is an instalock for any Prismatic build that wants to be taken seriously for 15% DR when surrounded by 3 or more enemies. Similarly, we take Facet of Purpose combined with the Silkstrike Super for 5 seconds of Woven Mail on orb pickup for 45% DR. Facet of Hope juices our class ability regen when we have any elemental buffs, stackingup to 2x for a max of 60% increased class ability regen which is perfect for this build as our class ability gives us most of our utility. Facet of Dawn gets us free Radiant for a 20% weapon damage buff and Anti-Barrier rounds on orb pickup. Anything we kill with Threaded Spike or Grapple melee will kickstart our health regen thanks to Facet of Blessing and Facet of Solitude makes chained precision hits create a Severing burst for even more DR, which will be extremely easy to proc given our Exotic weapon (I am giddy to talk about this gun).
This FINALLY gets us to our Exotic weapon of choice: The Manticore. First, it's an Exotic primary, meaning it gets a huge 40% damage buff against red bars, perfect for building up its Exotic perk meter and getting Elemental weapon verbs like Volatile and Weaken from the artifact online. Dealing damage or getting kills with the gun charge its Antigrav Repulsors meter under your buffs in the bottom left of the screen. The energy is gained extremely fast in comparison to other bar-filling Exotics like Barrow-Dyad, Wish-Keeper and Lodestar. You'll easily fully charge the bar (which isn't needed to activate the main Exotic perk) with sustained damage and just a couple of red bar kills. When you deal damage whilst airborne, you activate Hover Mode, which like its name suggests, makes you hover and able to fly horizontally around the battlefield which is just really fun but also great for survivability as it keeps our St0mp-EE5 DR up the entire time. It also makes activating Ascension and Threaded Specter even easier as you will already be airborne, allowing for both aspects to be used with a single key press.
I haven't even got to the main perk yet.
Whilst in Hover Mode, the gun gains stacking damage bonuses of 10% every 0.6 seconds to a total off 100% increased damage after 6 seconds, draining the Antigrav Repulsor bar at a rate of 1% per hit, however hits also extend the duration of Hover Mode by up to a total of 3 seconds. Worth noting that this damage buff is wiped when you hit the ground or turn off Hover Mode by swapping weapons or doing a long reload. Also, enemies are less accurate when shooting you whilst in Hover Mode. The catalyst (which is given to you from Banshee as soon as you pull the weapon from the Exotic kiosk) juices both our damage output and survivability even more. With the catalyst, Manticore gains a buffed version of Subsistence, restoring 12 bullets to the mag when scoring any kill or 5 hits against any non-red bar enemy as well as a 15hp Void Overshield. Although 15hp doesn't sound like a lot (and it really isn't), it's worth noting that these Overshields can be stacked by grabbing multikills with only a 1 second cooldown between activations. Void Overshields got buffed recently, giving 70% damage resistance as well as damage aginst the Overshield not preventing health regeneration as would be the case if you didn't have one. Couple this with the Severing blasts from Facet of Solitude every 9 precision hits with Manticore (on a 4 second cooldown) for even MORE survivability whilst slaying out in the air.
You're also on Prismatic, meaning that anytime you pop your Transcendence (which is a lot due to the build's damage splits), you'll gain another 20% damage resistance for 20 seconds.
All of these forms of DR stack, and you can easily have all of them on the go simultaneously without much thought. Just play, spam your abilities like any Prismatic Hunter and watch your health bar not even flinch, even in harder tiers of content.
But none of that matters. You get to use two completely ignored Exotics for PvE that are actually a lot of fun, especially when used together. I haven't mentioned artifact synergy as the season is almost over but for the sake of covering all bases and continuing my streak of stupidly long build descriptions (thanks if you're still here), here we go.
In the second column, Volatile Marksman and Unraveling Orbs give all three of our weapons Elemental buffs from rapid precision hits, kills and orb pickups. In column three, Dielectric gives us easy access to Bolt Charge by killing anything with or hit by the Jolt from Ascension. Disruptor Spike, as mentioned earlier, improves Sever to make enemies deal 52% less damage instead of the base 40%. In column four, Maligned Harvest and Horde SHuttle allow for our weapons to weaken and generate Threadlings on sustained damage. Lastly, column five gives us access to Void Flux and To Shreds for more Volatile applications and Woven Mail when killing any Severed targets.
Guns can be swapped if you'd like - you can cover all three Champion types with our Subclass alone if you swap Grapple for Duskfield Grenade (however in the Edge of Fate shatters won't stun Unstoppable Champions any more).
Armor mods are straightforward and pretty basic. Harmonic Siphon and a Heavy Ammo Finder on the helmet for orbs on Manticore multikills and more Heavy drops. Heavy Handed and an Impact Induction on the gloves for orbs on melee (either Threaded Spike or Grapple melee) kills and Grapple energy on any powered melee damage (yes this means Grapple melee damage restores its own energy). Rainbow resists on the chest for a safety blanket and all around coverage (15% DR each). On the boots we take two Void Weapon Surge mods for 17% increased Manticore damage on orb pickup alongside a copy of Recuperation for a 70hp heal on orb pickup. As Ascension won't activate any class ability mods until Edge of Fate, we take a Time Dilation for longer surge uptime, Empowered Finish for no real reason I just had energy spare, and Proximity Ward for a 200hp overshield any time we use a finisher (surprisingly strong in harder tiers of content and fits with the theme of the build)
I beg you, try it. Even if you think it sucks, you can't deny it's a blast. If you didn't think it was a blast, at least it's something different. If you don't care about that either, why are you still here? Go outside! Talk to a woman!
