Build Details
Welcome to the build explanation; here I will explain in detail, how the whole thing works.
The main idea of the build is very simple:
- You place a turret
- Turrets are cool
- You get kills with devour and area denial, generating grenade energy for more turrets
- You place more turrets
Subclass Options
- Bleak Watcher takes the main stage with the turrets, Feed the Void gives you devour which helps with survivability and getting turrets back faster.
- Song of Flame works very well with everything; mainly because it gives your abilities back after it's done, it can save you from sticky situations, and it gives you restoration through facet of purpose for even more survivability.
- Arcane needle is good for getting devour whenever you need it, and it has 3 charges so even if you miss you get a few chances. It also applies unravel for more sustained damage against bigger enemies like bosses.
- Healing grenade is good because of it's faster cooldown and can get you out of sticky situations if needed.
- Class ability is up to personal preference, although either of the rifts could play well into the stasis turret fields.
Fragments
- Facet of balance gives you grenade energy from darkness kills (think frozen targets, stasis turrets, etc.) which helps a lot in making more turrets.
- Facet of protection and purpose help with survivability
- Facet of ruin makes your turrets deadlier
- Facet of command is optional and I mainly picked it for its QoL synergy with turrets (i.e., ever thought how in movies they never have to reload? Well...)
Weapons
- Outbreak is a very good weapon regardless of the build, but with rewind rounds and facet of command, you can keep shooting for what feels like forever and deal a ton of damage. It's also and exotic primary, so the benefits of that are there too.
- Velocity Baton is a very good pick for this build because of demolitionist, and it's your main way of generating orbs with attrition orbs. It's also great for groups of enemies.
- Heavy weapon of choice is up to you, heavy grenade launchers like Edge Transit and Rocket Launchers are great picks, but you can use other things depending on your preference as well.
Alternatives
- As far the subclass and fragments go, you can't get any better than that. Feel free to customize though, it's up to you, but I do believe that this is the best setup for this build. Weapons on the other hand, you have a few options. If you don't have Velocity Baton, you can use Lost Signal with Demolitionist and Graviton Lance/Sunshot instead. Either of these pairs very well with the build, but feel free to use whatever you want; the build is very potent even without these weapons.
Tips and Hints
- Devour is your best friend, keep it up as much as possible.
- If you lose your turrets with no way to get them back, use super or transcendence to stay in the fight. If you don't have either of them, try to get a turret, transcendence, or super, as soon as possible.
- You can freeze enemies outside the range of the turret with the icicles.
- Your grenade is mostly for turrets, but keep in mind the healing grenade could sometimes come in handy too.
- Turrets can give you devour if you throw them near enemies and the crystal shatters kill enemies.
Main Loop 1. Have a good system that can support the chaos 2. Strategically throw a stasis turret down 3. Area denial groups, outbreak and heavy for targets that survive 4. As soon as you get another grenade charge, place down another turret 5. Have fun!
Tips and hints Things don't always go as planned, so check out the same section in How It Works for more info on how to get out of sticky situations.
