Destiny 2 Hunter BuildSoldier of Fortune
PvEFinal blows with this weapon grant stacks of Gathering Light, improving guard stats and lunge range. Stowing this weapon consumes all stacks, granting melee, grenade, and class ability energy.
After landing a final blow while at full health, or when out of combat for an extended duration, your shields will slowly recharge into an overshield.
When you have an overshield, your weapons gain increased accuracy, stability, handling, and damage against combatants, and final blows will grant a short period of increased mobility once the overshield is depleted.

Build Details
Fortune favors the bold, show your enemies that your confidence is very justified...
This build is the king of close-range DPS for the Hunter Class. Any boss in the game that is sword-able, this build should be strongly considered. It can apply some of the strongest debuffs in the game to enemies all in one convenient package while also supporting allies with sources of damage resist and healing. Unlike most other support setups however, it is just as effective Solo as it is in a Fireteam, making it the perfect option for any activity from Solo Ops to Contest Raids.
The crux of this build, the thing that makes it so effective at keeping you alive and making anything you cleave into dead, is the Facet of Purpose. Because you have a Void super equipped, Purpose grants you a Void Overshield every time you pick up an orb of power which then allows you to maximize the benefits of the Fortune's Favor exotic boots, as they grant their weapon damage benefits while a Void Overshield from any source is active. The other piece to make this puzzle of pain complete is any sword with the Attrition Orbs perk. As you swing with the sword, you'll be able to generate orbs for yourself which will keep your Overshield and Armor Charge topped off.
The main neutral-game loop is built around the classic Combination Blow Dodge - Punch Combo, as such, it is recommended to have both your melee stat and class stat above the ~70 mark to ensure your Combination Blow refills your Gambler's Dodge and vice-versa. Aside from that, the only stat that you should heavily invest in is the Weapons stat, as a majority of your damage will come from your Swords. Because of your Weapons stat being so high, Ammo Finder + Scout mods in your helmet will ensure there's always a healthy layer of ammo bricks littering the ground for you and your fireteam.
