Build Details
Cap at Mobility and Intellect 50 !
Specific numbers and stat suggestions in the details will be updated in next episode. EoF should result in an actual buff for the build, not a nerf.
In-Depth Explanation
Kinetic Slot: 3 shot sniper rifle will break most barriers in one shot, two at most. Do not forget the up to 35% weapon damage empowering buff of Burning Fists. In almost all situations, a quick swap to your sniper rifle and a lazy shot from the hip will instantly stun all Barrier champions. I like to use a Succession with Reconstruction on the 3rd perk slot and Backup Mag, so I will have 8 shot magazin most of the times, i'll swap to it. With such a huge magazin you can use it like a shotgun in cqc versus champions or dump an decent amount of damage on a boss. Recombination in the 4th perk slot is even nicer for single burst damage, while focused fury is just slightly better for boss phases. To be precise, with Recombination, your mag can contain the equivalent of 9 basic shots, with double damage on the first shot. Focused Fury instead will net you 9.2 to 9.4 basic shots in the mag. Also, 3 shot sniper rifles will reward 1 bolt charge stack for every hit.
A 1-2 Punch shotguns might be tempting, but Thunderclap is the safer and faster way to eliminate high value threats, while Vexcalibur will chew through everything else way faster than your punches, even when factoring in perks like Cursed Thrall ( chain explosions like Necrochasm after a melee kill ). In the time of shooting 1 foe and then punching 2 times, you can finish almost 2 glaive combos for roughly the same damage, but the added benefits of progressing and triggering your Special Ammo Finder mod, while not consuming any ammo. Also, glaive melee does splash damage in a small area around the focused target, you can instantly block to negate stomp attacks or fire, that would delete a shotgun wielder, and you can restore your Void Overshields.
Do NOT trust the shotgun !
Energy Slot: Vexcalibur Robber Refit: Refill your magazin with a glaive melee kill Perpetual Loophole: gives additional +20% glaive melee damage with an active Void Overshield. At maximum Burning Fist stacks, you will deal x3.6 base glaive melee damage with a V.O. Blocking: will slowly generate a Void Overshield. Glaive melee kills with an active Void Overshield will instantly reset the Shield to 45 HP ( normal maximum). Void Overshields also provide a 70% damage reduction, which works in addition to the 95% damage reduction of the glaive block shield.
Notes on glaive melee: unlike Thunderclap or normal punches, glaive melee normally cannot discharge Bolt Charges. But, when standing behind a barricade, the glaive melee will count as a primary kinetic weapon and CAN discharge!
Heavy Slot: IF you want to use your Rally Barricade as a Bolt Charge gun nest a lot, you should consider a machine gun, even if they do not offer the best dps or burst potential on their own. They are a good backup weapon outside of boss fights, since their ammo consumption can be very economical and does not suffer as much wasted damage per spent ammo ( you would miss in a boss phase ) compared to a grenade or rocker launcher.
Watchful Eye (arc) with Jolting Feedback will not break any boss damage records, but with a 600 rpm frame, and mastercrafted, it will only need 1.5 sec of continuous fire (1.2 sec while amplified) to apply Jolt. Even Jolt will not substantially improve the single target damage, but see it this way. You have horde with a lot of suiciders in it, coming your way and you know, it is very risky to melee in there. Instead, you can aim Watchful Eye for the hardest (and usually tallest) target in the horde and trigger all those annoying suiciders with the shortly after following Jolt lightning. Also, Jolt can disrupt Overload champions.
For burst and boss damage, you could also consider the following:
Crux Termination IV (arc rocket launcher) with Impact Casing, Reconstruction and Bipod. Hits. So. Hard. Being able to just pull out a 4(!) shot rocketlauncher and not have to worry about reloading most of the time, is awesome for the game flow, and very effectiv. Crux Termination IV can get 0 blast radius stat with a high velocity, which is good thing! You want this weapon for single high value targets, so a bigger blast radius is mostly more dangerous for you, than possible surrounding adds, while a high velocity will help your aim.
Scintillation (strand linear fusion rifle) with Bait and Switch and Auto-loading Holster is a reliable, ammo efficient precision damage source. With a Succession sniper rifle I mentioned above (8 shot mag), you can have a decent damge rotation of: 2 Sniper shots, 1 glaive shot ( which you can also use to generate a little Void Overshield), 1 fusion rifle magazine ( with +30% from B.a.S.), repeat up to 4 times, before you are forced to reload anything.
Fire and Forget (stasis linear fusion rifle) with Field Prep, Chill Clip and Backup Mag will make short work of Overload and Unstoppable champions without relying on artifact perks, while offering a lot of ammo reserves.
Rally Barricade has the shortest cooldown and you can shoot over it and melee across, unlike the Towering Barricade. Of course, you can use it traditionally as a Bolt Charge machine gun nest.
Or you place it in the thick of battle to disorient your foes, boost your (glaive) melee with bolt charges and enjoy additional damage resistance.
Do not forget, you don need, and SHOULD NOT melee all the time. When facing a moment with a lot of suiciders, you should rely on you weapons and Bolt Charges to clear from a safe distance! You, also, could block choke points to disorient enemies heading through.
Spark of Focus will noticeably help you staying mobile, because after 1.25 sec of sprinting, it will grant increase your class regen speed by x2.5 or +150%. So, i.e. sprinting for ~5 sec will net you ~9.5 sec worth of class ability cooldown.
Fun fact: barricade damage from walking through does not progress your Bolt Charge counter, but it can release Bolt Charges!
Blinding Grenade is just too useful compared to the other grenades to pass on. No other grenade will come close to your melee damage, but blinding anything in a 10 m radius is a god send in endgame. Which is why you should prioritize discipline over strength.
Thunderclap: Will provide additional 80% damage reduction, while charging and shortly after, and can save your life, when facing a wall of death. Furthermore, with its high base damage, it is very likely you will get a kill, in turn healing you thanks to Knockout. Now, when you combine the charging with Burning Fists and Knockout, you will end up at x11.2 damage. If you manage to trigger the Spark of Feedback, it will be x15.7 damage.
And how much is that really? I.e., how does it compare to Thundercrash or a perfect Cataclysm Nova Bomb?
When a basic Thundercrash (no artifact perks, no exotic boost) would do ~9300 points of damage and perfectly placed Nova Bomb ~7900 points, Thunderclap would end up at ~8700 points, or ~12200 points with a triggered Spark of Feedback.
Why not prioritize strength? Because there is little point, when you can rely on the armor charge melee generator. Charged Up (chest) will give you a maximum of 4 armor charges; Stacks on Stacks (legs) will give you 2 charges and Invigoration 9% melee charge per collected Orb of Power. Finishing an enemy with 4 armor charges will give 72% melee charge, for a total of 90% charge with the previously collected orbs. At Strength 50, this would mean a remaining cooldown of 7.6 sec, which will most likely have passed by the time of your finisher. The hardest part is finding targets, which are not at full health or dead.
Thundercrash is a no seller for this build, because Fists of Havoc does less damage per second than you in full frenzy. Before you use Rally Banners ahead of encounters, place a barricade, get your full bolt charge and amplified, and then restore you abilities at the banner.
Amplified can be very easily gained by just arc punching or zapping an enemy to death, and lasts for a long time of 15 sec. It not only grants the great sprinting speed and jump buff (which makes it even harder for enemies to hit you) , but also grants you +50 Mobility, which is why you should cap at your own Mobility 50. Opponents will additionally be less accurate, when firing at you. And the cherry on top: It grants your weapons x0.95 Swap and Aim Animation and +40 Handling stat, a nice boost for any damage rotation or for quickly swapping between stabbing and punching!
Knockout will double your fist damage (x2) and increases powered melee damage by half again (x1.5) and lasts for 6 sec. It will also increase your fists lunge distance to 5.5 m, almost on glaive level of 7 m, but will also count as arc damage. Now, every arc punch will generate a small Orb of Power, thanks to 3 Heavy Handed mods in your arms. The orbs can boost your super regeneration and grant healing when collected.
Amplified will give you a flat 15% damage reduction, and worsen enemy aim for you, which is hard to measure, but noticable, esspecially when in the air.
Void Overshied will provide 70% damage reduction, while they have atleast 1 HP (barely exist) and be restored to maximum with a glaive melee kill. Also, as long as it persists, taking damage wont stop health regeneration or trigger the time for it to start.
Rally Barricade grants 20% d.r. while in the placing animation, and 90% splash damage resistance, while standing in a small area behind it. Since glaive melee will often pull you forward, you should keep in mind to every so often take a few steps back behind it.
Indirectly, the massive buff to your weapon stats ( +30 stability, +100 Reload Speed, x0.9 reload animation, +10% damage falloff distance, +50% Flinch Resistance for more consistent crit hits) will also help your defense, since you will be more effective in dealing damage, thus lessening the pressure, and spent less time in vulnerable reload animations ( where a suicider might close in! ).
Knockout will not only buff your melee damage, but also heal you for 1/4 to 1/2 your health bar per enemy killed with ARC melee, depending on enemy rank.
Recuperation will restore almost half your health bar per collected Orb of Power
Glaive Block will grant you a 95(!)% damage resistance in a 180° cone in front of you and start generating an Void Overshield.

Short answer: No. Detailed answers: You have a Ammo Finder Mod (head), and althouh it can't be progressed and triggered with sniper, machine gun and glaive >shots<, glaive melee will count and trigger it. Your ammo consumption in neutral play is also rather limited, since you will want to use your melee attacks. I tested it Expert Onslaught ( highest difficulty ) and never ran into ammo issues.
vs rank-and-file and regular elites: 1. Briefly block with Vexcalibur to generate an initial Void Overshield 2. Glaive melee with an active V.O. to refresh it on kills, trigger Knockout and build Burning Fists stacks 3. Switch to kinetic weapon with Synergy mod and use Thunderclap vs champions and mini bosses 4. Collect Orbs of Power to gain 2 armor charges and 9% melee charge, each 5. Use Finishers with 4 armor charges to reduce your powered melee cooldown by 72%
vs Boss ( i.e. Onslaught): 1. Use Thundercrash 2. Place Rally Barricade directly on boss 3. Glaive melee with Vexcalibur; glaive melee CAN release Bolt Charges while behind the barricade
