Destiny 2 Hunter BuildErgo Sum Ascension
PvEFinal blows with this weapon grant stacks of Gathering Light, improving guard stats and lunge range. Stowing this weapon consumes all stacks, granting melee, grenade, and class ability energy.
Activating Ascension or Tempest Strike throws bouncing explosives at nearby targets that jolt and damage them. Jolting nearby targets grants you damage resistance.
Build Details
Ergo Sum
For whatever reason, Ascension procs some of the effects of the various Ergo Sum perks when you're holding the sword. For this build, Arc Conductor is preferred, but other perks, like Stormbringer can be fun. The preference is Aggressive Frame, as this allows you to slam back down with the heavy attack after Ascension launches you in the air. The point of this build is to proc Arc Conductor using Ascension as much as possible, while quickly building transendence for use with Ergo Sum's exotic perk.
Abilities
Threaded Spike and Grapple both double as a melee attack for use with the various melee-based fragements and armor mods. Also, it is incredibly fun to launch into Ascension after riding a Grapple attatched to a tangle.
Which super is used is wholly preferential. This build uses Golden Gun to proc Restoration off of Facet of Purpose.
Gunpowder Gamble is completely preferential, and will be fighting for a difficult spot once Bungie allows Ascension to work with Threaded Specter and Winter's Shroud. Furthermore, Stylish Executioner is a popular choice, as the Riskrunner effect from Ergo Sum does not break invisibility, allowing you to run around damaging enemies while remaining invisible.
Facet of Hope makes Ascension self-sustaining, since Ascension amplifies you which in turn charges it faster. Facet of Hope is used to make Tangles to Grapple off of. Facets of Blessing and Dawn are used with both Grapple and Threaded Spike for radiant + healing as needed. Facet of Purpose works well in conjunction with Golden Gun to provide Rstoration for survivability. Facet of Protection is optional, but is helpful since you will be surrounded often when activating ascension or using Arc Conductor.
Weapons
Any Strand primary weapon help generate Darkness Transcendence energy and create Tangles through Facet of Hope for Grappling off of.
Any heavy is usable, but it's best to use a matching element to your Ergo Sum so your surges double dip.
Armor Mods
Helmet Hands On works with both the Grapple Melee and Threaded Spike, generating a ton of super energy. The other two slots are preferential, although it can be helpful to have both a Strand and Arc Siphon.
Gauntlets Heavy Handed, Impact Induction, and Momentum transfer all proc off both Grapple and Threaded Spike, just like Hands On.
Chest Chest is reserved for whichever resist mods are most appropriate for the activty.
Legs Always 3x surges for the boots. Ideally both your Ergo Sum and Heavy should match elements, with the appropriate surge mods being slotted here.
Cloak Until Bungie finally makes any of the class ability mods work with Ascension there's not much a cloak can be used for.
1.) Activate Ascension while holding Ergo Sum. Run around and electrocute things at will. Re-activating Ascension is the primary gameplay loop of this build.
2.) Use your Strand primary and Grenade/Melee when able to fill Darkness Transcendence energy. Your Grenade/Melee can also be used in a pinch to heal.
3.) Activate Transcendence and spam sword attacks/grenades.
4.) Repeat
