WHAT’S UP GUARDIANS, AND WELCOME BACK WARLOCKS!
I’m Profane, and as always, thanks for checking out the video.
Today, we’re diving back into one of Destiny 2’s best Solar builds — one that doesn’t get talked about much anymore: the Sunbracers build.
With all the recent upgrades to “buddy” builds, like Arc Souls and Threadlings, those setups have become super popular. But let’s be honest — they can get kind of boring. You’re basically setting up turrets and letting them do the work for you.
Now, don’t get me wrong — those builds are still great. But if you want something a little more hands-on and explosive, it’s time to take another look at Sunbracers.
🔥 Why Sunbracers?
Sunbracers are an Exotic Warlock gauntlet with the Helium Spirals perk, which boosts your Solar Grenades in a few key ways:
They fly farther.
They deal damage for 2 seconds longer.
And when paired with Touch of Flame, they last even longer and drop pools of lava that deal extra damage over time.
But here’s the real kicker: When you defeat an enemy with your powered melee, you activate Sunbracers Ready — a buff that gives you a massive boost to grenade regeneration for 5 seconds.
That means after getting one melee kill, you can throw out up to 4 Solar Grenades in a row — and each one hits like a truck.
☀️ Core Abilities
For this build, we’re using Incinerator Snap as our melee. It’s short-range, but very reliable, and it instantly triggers the Sunbracers buff when you get a kill or cause an ignition.
We’re also running Heat Rises, which lets you:
Consume a grenade to heal yourself and nearby teammates.
Stay airborne longer and gain bonus melee energy for killing enemies mid-air.
Fully recharge your melee by defeating enemies with your grenades.
This creates an easy feedback loop — throw grenades, get melee energy back, repeat!
And since Heat Rises also buffs Phoenix Dive, you’ll gain Cure x2 and Restoration, healing yourself while scorching enemies when you dive.
So before we even talk about Fragments, Supers, or mods — you’re already getting:
Massive ability uptime,
Big grenade damage,
Consistent self-healing, and
Strong add-clear potential.
💪 Stats and Mods
The Grenade stat is the heart of this build.
At 200 Discipline, your Solar Grenades deal 65% more damage.
If you can’t reach that naturally, use Font of Focus (Grenade Font) mods — three of them give +50 Discipline when you have Armor Charge.
Keep your Melee stat high too.
At 100 Strength, you get a 190% bonus to melee energy regeneration.
Weapons with Pugilist or Monte Carlo pair perfectly to keep your melee charged.
🛡️ Armor Set Synergy
Sunbracers really shine with the new armor sets added in Edge of Fate:
Techsec: Increases Kinetic weapon damage (like Monte Carlo) by 200% vs enemy shields.
Smoke Jumper: Gives up to 45% damage resistance when picking up Orbs of Power.
Bushido and Iron Banner sets: Heal you after weapon kills.
Lustrous (Solstice): Heals you when rapidly defeating enemies with Solar damage (requires 4 pieces, so it’s harder to fit).
Mixing Techsec, Smoke Jumper, or Iron Banner pieces gives you the best balance between damage, defense, and recovery.
Also, add Recuperation mods to your boots — they instantly restore health when picking up Orbs of Power.
🔥 Fragments and Perks
Here’s the best Solar Fragment setup for this build:
Ember of Ashes – Apply more Scorch stacks for faster Ignitions.
Ember of Char – Ignitions spread Scorch to nearby enemies.
Ember of Torches – Powered melee hits grant Radiant (+20% weapon damage).
Ember of Searing – Defeating Scorched enemies gives melee energy and creates Firesprites for grenade energy.
And here’s a bonus: When Radiant is active, the Shield Crush artifact mod gives +25% grenade damage and regen — stacking perfectly with the Sunbracers buff.
⚔️ Weapon Choices
The build pairs perfectly with:
Monte Carlo – Constant melee energy regen.
Buried Bloodline (Exotic Sidearm) – Triggers Devour, giving you steady healing and grenade energy.
Solar weapons with Incandescent or Burning Ambition – Apply Scorch and feed your loop even more.
💥 Final Thoughts
Sunbracers used to be a one-trick exotic — but with the new armor sets, artifact mods, and weapon synergies, they’ve evolved into a complete Solar powerhouse.
This build gives you: ✅ Massive grenade and ability uptime ✅ High damage output ✅ Constant self-healing ✅ And top-tier add-clear potential
The only downside? Sunbracers can’t be used in activities with the Avant-Garde modifier. But everywhere else — this build absolutely melts.
So if you’re getting tired of those automated buddy builds, grab your Sunbracers, light up your grenades, and burn everything in sight.
Step 1: Consume Grenade for Heat Rises Step 2: Strike Close Range enemies with Melee Step 3: Spam Solar Grenades (Hop in the Air) Step 4: Weaken Enemies with Weapons Step 5: Finish them with Powered Melee Step 6: Spam Grenades Step 7: Cast Super (If Possible, Defeat Enemy with Powered Melee before Song of Flame Ends) Step 8: If Enemy Dies from Song of Flame Powered Melee, Spam Grenades after Super Step 9: If Not, Strike Enemies with Powered Melee and Rinse and Repeat!
