Destiny 2 Warlock BuildThe PERFECT Starfire Solar DPS Build!
PvERockets embed themselves in struck targets and periodically eject incendiary fuel that inflicts Scorch. The longer this weapon goes without firing, the more fuel the next rocket contains. Strong against [Stagger] Unstoppable Champions.
Fusion Grenades have an additional charge and recharge from empowered weapon damage, with empowered weapon final blows granting more energy. Defeating targets with Fusion Grenades grant Rift energy.

Starfire Protocol Solar Warlock Build (Easy Breakdown) Today, we’re taking a look at a powerful Solar Warlock build featuring the recently updated Starfire Protocol exotic chest piece. This setup is great for both clearing large groups of enemies quickly and dealing huge amounts of boss damage—perfect for almost any activity in Destiny 2.
Big shoutout to my clanmate Cherbs for helping put this build together!
Why Starfire Protocol? Starfire Protocol gives you:
Two Fusion Grenade charges (instead of one)
20% faster grenade recharge at all times
While in Empowering Rift or Well of Radiance:
5% grenade energy per sustained weapon hit
15% grenade energy per weapon kill
New update: You now get these benefits when Radiance is active—so you’re no longer stuck standing still in a Rift.
Extra perk:
Defeating enemies with Fusion Grenades fully recharges your class ability (like Phoenix Dive).
The Gameplay Loop Throw Fusion Grenades to deal big damage and scorch enemies.
Use Phoenix Dive for healing (and to scorch enemies if using Heat Rises).
Keep up sustained weapon damage to refill your grenades even faster.
Trigger Ignitions for bonus damage and more grenade energy.
This loop means you’ll almost always have a grenade ready—and they’ll be hitting much harder than normal.
Aspects (Solar 3.0) Touch of Flame – Makes your Fusion Grenades explode twice, doubling scorch and damage.
Second Aspect (choose based on activity):
Icarus Dash – Great for mobility in general content.
Heat Rises – Synergizes with Phoenix Dive for extra healing, scorch, and melee energy.
Healing Buddy (Well of Radiance build) – Good in boss damage phases, but can steal grenade kills.
Fragments (Solar 3.0) Ember of Blistering – More grenade energy from Ignition kills.
Ember of Ashes – Doubles scorch stacks applied.
Ember of Char – Ignitions spread scorch to nearby enemies.
Ember of Torches – Powered melee hits grant Radiance (boosting weapon damage by 20%).
Super Choices Well of Radiance – Team healing + Radiance for boss DPS phases.
Daybreak – For solo play and mobility, pairs well with Touch of Flame for big grenade boosts.
Stat Priorities Discipline (Grenade) – Get to 100 for fastest grenade cooldowns.
Recovery – Boosts survivability and helps with Rift cooldowns.
Intellect (Super) – Faster Well of Radiance uptime.
Mods to Use Firepower – Grenade kills create Orbs of Power.
Siphon Mods – Generate Orbs with weapon kills.
Reaper – First weapon kill after using your class ability creates an Orb.
Dynamo – Phoenix Dive near enemies gives bonus super energy.
If you’re short on stats, use Font mods to boost Grenade or Super stats.
Armor Recommendations Starfire Protocol (required) – Core of the build.
Grenadier stat rolls – Prioritize Grenade and Super stats.
Bushido Set – Heals you after kills with freshly drawn weapons (only need 2 pieces).
Solstice Set – Heals on Solar kills (needs 4 pieces).
Raid Set – Extends Radiance/Restoration duration.
Artifact Perks That Help Elemental Coalescence – Creates Firesprites for extra grenade energy.
Elemental Overdrive – Solar weapon damage buff after collecting a Firesprite.
Shield Crush – 25% grenade damage & regen boost while Radiant.
Cauterized Darkness – 30% Solar damage boost vs. debuffed enemies (great with Stasis/Strand weapons).
Weapons That Work Well Key Traits to Look For:
Demolitionist – Restores grenade energy on weapon kills.
Incandescent / Burning Ambition – Spreads scorch for more Ignitions.
Envious Arsenal + Bait and Switch – Big damage boosts for boss phases.
Slice / Chill Clip – Can trigger Cauterized Darkness for extra damage.
Recommended Weapons:
Yeartide Apex (SMG) – Demolitionist + Burning Ambition.
Lost Signal / Festival Flight (GLs) – Continuous damage to recharge grenades.
Mint Retrograde (Strand) – Envious Arsenal + Bait and Switch + Slice.
Outrageous Fortune (GL) – Still one of the best heavy GLs for DPS.
Dragon’s Breath (Rocket) – Applies continuous scorch & Ignitions—perfect synergy with Starfire.
Why This Build Works This setup turns your grenades into mini-nukes that you can throw constantly. Every ability and weapon choice feeds into making them stronger, recharging them faster, and keeping you alive while doing it.
Step 1: Throw Grenade Step 2: INSTANTLY Cast Phoenix Dive Step 3: Throw Grenade Step 4: Cast Phoenix Dive Step 5: Use Melee Step 6: Use Weapons until Grenade energy returns Step 7: Use Grenade Step 8: Cast Phoenix Dive Step 9: Cast Super when ready (don't hold onto it!)
Burning Ambition/ Demo REALLY Helps!
Stick With Gameplay Loop and Stay Close to Enemies when Casting Phoenix Dive for Faster Supers!
