How It Works

This new build features an exotic that isn’t available yet, but will be once Revenant launches. That exotic is the Rime Coat Raiment, a new chest piece you'll be able to obtain through Master Rahool's Exotic Focusing.

Although it's not out yet, we got an early preview during Bungie's livestream earlier this week. This gave us a chance to break down its intrinsic trait and how to build around this crazy new armor piece.

While it hasn't undergone proper testing, the exotic showed a lot of potential when showcased during Legendary Onslaught. Keep in mind, this was on a developer build with all the new artifact mods unlocked, but it still looked really, really good.

The Rime Coat Raiment comes with the Bleak Domain intrinsic trait, which enhances your Bleak Watcher turret in several ways.

This exotic can be used in both a standard Stasis build and a Prismatic build, but I'm more inclined to focus on the Prismatic benefits. These provide much better ability regeneration, health recovery, and overall damage output.

Bleak Watcher turrets will now have extended range, and when you cast a turret, it will be stationed higher off the ground. This is a nice improvement, as most Bleak Watchers end up at eye level, which can sometimes obstruct your view.

When the turret is generated, 3-4 large Stasis crystals will form around it. Once these crystals are destroyed, new ones will continue to form as long as the turret remains active, with a standard duration of 25 seconds.

Beneath the turret, a storm of Stasis energy will rise, slowing and freezing any targets that pass through it. This can be used offensively to trap champions or high-ranking enemies within the storm, keeping them perpetually frozen.

The radius of this storm is slightly smaller than a Rift, but when you stand within it, a tiny icicle companion forms next to you. It functions similarly to an Arc or Solar Buddy, and I've got to admit, these things are super cute.

As you use your weapons against enemies, this icicle fires Stasis projectiles that slow them. While it's not as effective as the Bleak Watcher turret or other elemental buddies, it does help spread slow and freezing effects to larger groups of enemies.

This baby turret stays by your side and remains active for 1-2 seconds after stepping out of the storm. Re-entering the storm reactivates it.

With Rime Coat Raiment, you're not just getting an enhanced Bleak Watcher turret—you also gain an extended area-of-effect ability, Stasis crystals that deal additional damage when shattered, and a cute little Stasis buddy.

This exotic will have a lot of synergy with the new seasonal artifact, offering Warlocks a great crowd-control build.

Now, I wouldn’t say it’s better than Osmiomancy Gloves or other exotic-class item combinations just yet, since the exotic isn’t officially out. But it definitely looks promising.

Building Around the Rime Coat Raiment For this build, we're focusing on the Prismatic subclass, which pairs well with the Bleak Watcher turret and Feed the Void.

By defeating enemies with abilities, you'll trigger Devour. While Devour is active, every final blow restores health and grants up to 20% bonus grenade energy, allowing for more frequent Bleak Watcher turret summons.

While most of your grenades will be used to create Bleak Watchers, you’re free to choose any grenade type. We’ve opted for Void grenades due to their synergy with new artifact mods.

With the addition of Supernova, collecting a Void Breach will cause your next source of Void damage to weaken nearby enemies by 15%. You typically need Facet of Awakening to create Void Breaches, but using Power from Pain allows defeated weakened enemies to generate Void Breaches, which also grants Devour.

This could free you up to remove Feed the Void and use another aspect for more fragment options. However, we’ve chosen to keep Feed the Void to ensure Devour stays active throughout combat.

Concussive Reload gives you a way to weaken enemies with grenade launchers, and Facet of Dominance lets your Void grenades weaken enemies as well.

Conductive Cosmic Crystal is another mod that greatly impacts this build by allowing Void or Arc abilities to deal bonus damage to slowed or frozen enemies. Facet of Courage boosts all light-based abilities with a 10% bonus damage against those same enemies.

Several Stasis-inspired artifact mods also amplify the performance of your Bleak Watcher and the new Stasis storm.

With Hail the Storm, shattering crystals and frozen enemies deals bonus damage, and when crystals shatter, tiny shards of ice slow nearby enemies. Wind Chill adds survivability through Frost Armor, which grants up to 36% bonus damage resistance after consecutive precision hits with Stasis weapons.

We also use Facet of Protection to give ourselves a 15% damage resistance boost when surrounded by enemies, increasing to 32% when in the Transcendent state.

The only downside of Transcendency is that you can’t consume Transcendent Grenades, but you can still spam them and your melee ability—Incinerator Snap.

With Facet of Purpose and Song of Flame, collecting an Orb of Power triggers restoration, and during Song of Flame, you gain 90% bonus damage resistance.

Although Conductive Cosmic Crystal entices us to use Nova Bomb for extra damage against frozen and slowed enemies, I find Song of Flame’s survivability too beneficial to pass up. It also synergizes better with our Stasis effects, especially when paired with Facet of Ruin, which increases the radius and damage of ignitions and shatters.

Weapons and Mods Grenade energy regeneration is crucial for maintaining Bleak Watcher turret uptime, so legendary weapons with Demolitionist will help a lot. Stasis weapons with Chill Clip or Headstone, or Solar weapons with Incandescent, offer great synergy with this build.

I’ll personally be switching between the Lost Signal Stasis Grenade Launcher and the Jararaca Rapid-Fire Scout Rifle.

As for Exotics, the new Stasis Grenade Launcher seems promising, but other great options include Ager’s Scepter, Wicked Implement, Winter’s Bite, and Conditional Finality.

When it comes to character stats, focus on Resilience (for a 30% damage reduction at tier 10) and Discipline (to reduce grenade cooldowns). Armor mods should focus on grenade energy regeneration, so we’re using Grenade Kickstart to convert Armor Charges into grenade energy.

To generate Armor Charges, we’re using Helmet Siphon, Heavy Handed, and Reaper mods. Firepower isn’t effective here since we’re not defeating enemies with grenades.

We’ve also equipped Impact Induction, Innervation, and Bomber for even more grenade energy.

With all the additional grenade energy provided by your armor, Devour, and other sources, you’ll have a constant supply of Bleak Watcher turrets, allowing you to fully maximize the potential of this amazing new Exotic.

exotic class item slotted above is place holder for the actual exotic... once API has been updated I will be able to add the appropriate artifact mods and exotic
